As has been said multiple times in the other threads: this is not meant to be a 2270-setting but a TOS setting, so "which races were in Fed at the time" just was no part of the decision.
I will probably roll a Tellarite too. Got one human and one andorian already, vulcans (like trill or betazoid) are not distinguishable enough for me.
My mother was an epohh and my father smelled of tulaberries
It's indeed a bummer TBH.
I must say i'm not up to date all the time, when i saw it in the Patch notes i was pretty dissappointed to see that "Alien" race was not included. I didn't care about others like Ferengi, Betazoids or Bajorans not being included, it would be weird to see them in TOS times Starfleet, but "alien" race? Why did the devs decided not to include them?
Sure, there wheren't many (or none?) Aliens in Starfleet in TOS, but TOS movies and KT Movies show plenty Alien race crewmembers.
So, why?

Humans are awesome, so I have no problem at all with the species selection.
No ground queues does not bode well. What kind of rep has no way to earn marks by playing ground? space combat in this game is meh.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
And this "it takes 15 days so we are not going to do it" jazz makes no sense. Like there is a threshold of time that makes projects impossible or not worth it?
All other projects takes less than two weeks to accomplish?
The later you start the later you finish.
If they start now then at least the addtl race will exist before the Temporal Recruitment ends.
I'm not a programmer, but if I had designed it all the racial traits, abilities, and useable customizations would be in a database, and each race would essentially be a single text file telling the game which ones that race was allowed to use. A system like this wouldn't take 15 days to work on.
However, I have a feeling Cryptic has a far more complex system that would require text changes in hundreds of files. Although it seems simple on the user side, it's probably not simple at all on the code side.

While I also prefer ground combat, there are many in this game who hate the ground aspect.
Who wants to be a ship all the time and not play their actual character?

I'd love to play as my character ... if there was anything at all that could be considered even remotely enjoyable about ground combat.
You mean almost everything?

I wonder why trill were not allowed.. in the DS9 ep Trials and Tribble-ations does take place in the TOS era and Jadzia Dax says that she knew Dr. Macoy when he was just a Lt. during a past life when she was on Earth judging a gymnastic contest.
It's a canon and its a TOS episode sort of... and it means that the Federation had contact with Trills early on to the point that they were on earth.
Because of look and feel. The expansion isn't based on what we know was or was not present at the time - it's based on what actually broadcast to people's brand new staticy color TVs and was picked up on rooftop antennae and rabbit ears for all to enjoy in the 1960s.

We've seen a whole bunch of "Why didn't they allow this species to be playable in Agents of Yesterday? They were inferred to exist in TAS/in the TOS novels/in the TOS movies which still counts as TOS/whatever, so they should be playable." threads already.
They went this route because of artistic license. If they really wanted to, they could have added any number of races and justified it any way they wanted to without batting an eyelash.
But they chose these 4 initial species because of the TOS aesthetic they wanted to go for with this expansion. They purposefully and intentionally avoided other alien species and the alien generator because this is how they wanted Agents of Yesterday content to look.
Really, in TOS we only saw Humans, and by reference in the 'Immunity Syndrome', Vulcans, commanding Federation Starships. We are getting double the number of Species to choose from!!!

I'm not too keen on ground combat either. I don't mind playing a ship most of the time. My ground combat consists of those story missions that forces me to ground combat.
As for only having four species to choose from? I'm good with that. I probably would have chosen a human anyway, no matter how many others were offered. Likely male, sci. It's not that big of a deal.
As for Tellarite...no. Not unless I make them a miner to mine dil for me.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
reasaon that its alot of work is they create TOS first as a KDF version then they kinda gotten, oh its actually federation lol and then since its an out split of KDF that is rewritten to federations they needed to re:add all the scripts for every TOS thingy instead of just sub a federation sub and then simply revamp it, nope take kdf instead and scrap the whole thing to make it more work lol. But then again it partly works, but the main reaseon they did it is to lock down ranks befor you completed the first episode ,so that you can leave the 23 cen.
ps dont forget to grind abit for equip and dil and ec so that you get some 23 cen boff and 23 cen skills with you sicne once you leave its gone!!!skills 250 ec, boff 250 dil if you want TOS ones , for new ones you get later new BOFF easily anyway, New thing is a more aged UI for TOS only!
I love ground combat. I only really began enjoying it after I thoroughly overhauled all the ground controls to feel more fluid and natural and not as clunky and ergonomically-torturous as the default settings.
Isn't the species restriction logical? The four offered are the Founders of the Federation, and TOS actually gives the impression that crews are generally very homogenous in terms of species. I can see disregarding the latter for the sake gameplay ("Oh, goody, another human BOff..."), and it probably would've been nice to at least have Alien as an option, but this seems pretty in keeping with the setting.
Precisely! They are the Founders of Federation!
I must warn you, I am quite Isane! I am Grand Duchess of the Abh Empire: Beneej Letopanyu Spoor!
Hey, if you roll a 23rd Century Character and you put 100 EC in the Bank, when you move to 2410 with that Character, shouldn't you have about 9,200 EC @ 2% Interest?

Well, i always thought it was because Trill wasn't part of the federation, just "friends" instead, they would send people to visit, but not really join up with the feds, remember the episode "the host" where Beverly Crusher had nary a clue about Trill physiology... It wasn' long after that Trill joined the federation.
It could be that Trill never joined officially, but only unjoined members of their species could apply to be starfleet officers because they wanted to keep the whole "belly worm" thing a secret because in the past other species freaked out when they found out.

then the ships should move like a puppet and we should be just almost be able to see the string attached.
The only reason we didn't see other species in the original series was lack of budget and reasorces so we got one main alien.
its a TRIBBLE poor excuse in my opinion and its one of the reasons why im not bothered about this exp at all now.
hell i actually forgot about it till a notification on facebook reminded me it was today.

There's absolutely nothing about the current ground combat system that I would consider well designed, enjoyable, or even average.
At it's best, it's below average. In general, it's the worst MMO combat system ever cobbled together.
Precisely! They are the Founders of Federation!
Yes, but they were not allowed to join for a while because of a diplomatic kerfluffle when Phlox ate Porthos....
