I wonder why trill were not allowed.. in the DS9 ep Trials and Tribble-ations does take place in the TOS era and Jadzia Dax says that she knew Dr. Macoy when he was just a Lt. during a past life when she was on Earth judging a gymnastic contest.
It's a canon and its a TOS episode sort of... and it means that the Federation had contact with Trills early on to the point that they were on earth.
Well, i always thought it was because Trill wasn't part of the federation, just "friends" instead, they would send people to visit, but not really join up with the feds, remember the episode "the host" where Beverly Crusher had nary a clue about Trill physiology... It wasn' long after that Trill joined the federation.
It could be that Trill never joined officially, but only unjoined members of their species could apply to be starfleet officers because they wanted to keep the whole "belly worm" thing a secret because in the past other species freaked out when they found out.
Joined Trill had to have had at least some interaction with feds before that, because in trials and tribblations it was highly suggested that Dax had had some ... "private" time with Dr McCoy.
I seem to recall Riker saying something about their world being wiped out in the first Romulan War, which happened prior to TOS. But that was along time ago and I could be misremembering.

your thinking of a non cannon book Star Trek: Federation - The First 150 Years they were not wiped out in that but 3 million were killed but i doubt it is referenced in sto

Humans are awesome, so I have no problem at all with the species selection.
No ground queues does not bode well. What kind of rep has no way to earn marks by playing ground? space combat in this game is meh.
While I also prefer ground combat, there are many in this game who hate the ground aspect.
I am one of them. I detest the ground missions and generally avoid them after I have completed the stories. Once I am playing the end game, I only go planetside when I am on a station, using the facilities (bank, exchange, tailor, etc). They were so notoriously buggy back in the first 6 months this game was out, that I just can't seem to get into them anymore. I groan every time I have to leave my captain's chair.

No, that can't be it. I have not read a Star Trek Book. A hundred Star Wars books, but no Trek books. I simply do not bother reading non-canon novels; I always seemed like a waste of time to me.
No, I remember it being, like, a one-off line in Picard's ready room.
Im pretty sure Denobulans were created for Enterprise. Riker wouldn't have been talking about Dr. Phloxs' race in picards ready room. Maybe it was a similar sounding species.

Which is the biggest problem with retcons. Enterprise is supposed to predate all the shows, yet nobody in those shows actually knew anything about those occurences, has never seen the new races they introduced (Xindi and a massive intergalactic war costing millions of lives on Earth? Nope, never happened). Borg Queen? Didn't exist in TNG and her existence also runs contrary to everything that was established in the show. By doing retcons you are limited to portray events so insignificant they somehow feel natural to never came up anywhere afterwards. Or you have to flat out lie - when the Queen says she has always been there it doesn't make sense. No amount of fanon brain acrobatics can make sense of that, it's contradicting canon.
^ Memory Alpha.org is not canon. It's a open wiki with arbitrary rules. Only what can be cited from an episode is. ^
