I don't see a need to demand it over all other possibilities... But I'd certainly make a captain or two using it if it were part of the tools at hand .
The Federation way is the only way, Nikeix! Any dimension, any time, anywhere! Hasn't STO made that clear enough?
And yet my Romulan captain in her Tal Shiar Adapted Destroyer with cookie-cutter Anti-Proton mojo is still a joy to play.
No. They've already added a second fed 'faction' There is no need or rational purpose for there to be a third. It would be a waste of resources to add something that already exists with a different style
I cant see this as a fraction... its an interesting verse and would make a decent game in its own right(as long as the ppl responsible for that other jjtrek game are kept far away.)
Rather see something else, not a 3rd fed style faction. Not against JJ verse, but come on, 3 fed factions? No, just NO.

I don't want STO in any of the new Star Trek series or movie. The creators of the new Star Trek series, new Star Trek movies, and STO should be free to create their own stories that have nothing to do with each other. The odd crossover is fine, but having STO dictate what happens in the Kelvin Universe should never happen. Although it would be fun to have a Parallels episode in the new Star Trek series where an npc of the STO Universe makes an appearance complaining about all the Fleet Admirals flying around in alien ships and wearing strange uniforms and all the other strange activity that they have seen over the years.
launching a kelvin faction into the game would probably end up being 6 episodes in the kelvin universe and then thrown into the prime universe current timeline to join with the regular feds just like the ToS faction, I very much doubt they will create enough content to level up to endgame as that would be like having virtually two completely different games on the same server and I just cant see that happening.
the feds, roms, kdf and now ToS all share most of the game story line missions, can you really see a kelvin faction character being any different.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Which would be about all I'd want as a Kelvin TImeline enthusiast - a solid base, and then jump into the main STO arc. Perfect.

I'd honestly actually be fine with that if I got Kelvin beam effects, Kelvin SFX, a full Kelvin interior and Kelvin crew members wandering my ship. The missions and exploration in even a small fraction of that universe would just be icing on the cake.
I would support this, if the devs were able to allocate the time and resources to flesh it out fully. With the new movie coming out at the end of the month, there could be enough fan support, and it might attract more players.
I think it would behoove us to see how Agents of Yesterday plays out first though, since it is similar in scope, I think. Perhaps a 'Kelvin Faction" could be Feds with a story arc that takes them up to at least Captain before tying them into the temporal agents plotline. A more fleshed out subfaction perhaps.
I would support it, but I will also be content simply owning all of the Kelvin lockbox goodies on my main.
There's so much to explore, though. So many things that are out there in that universe we don't know about. What's V'Ger up to in that universe? The Borg? How are the Romulans taking the knowledge Hobus will explode one day? How powerful is Rihanna's Sledgehammer as a melee weapon?
It certainly seems to be a less stable and predictable universe than the Prime Timeline, from Admiral Marcus' office wallscreen: i.imgur.com/V14PBBr.jpg

as long as players are fully aware of what they are likely to get from this and we don't get another torrent of complaining threads like we did for the ToS faction regarding players grand expectations being shattered.

Well, that depends on how much the devs spin things, I'm afraid.

But if we have a portion of STO set in the Kelvin Universe, then it will be. So if this happens, then either it is not the Kelvin Universe and we have just been using the wrong name or STO will dictate what happens in the Kelvin Universe.

I don't think you understand how STO works. STO is a licensed thing by CBS. So, no matter what they put into it nothing outside of it will change. The only thing that's canon to CBS is what appears on screen. STO is its own universe and if they brought in the Kelvin Timeline fully it would be a branch of the Kelvin Timeline that only existed in STO.

Oh, the lockbox is nice but it doesn't give me the beam-out effects, SFX or allow my Kelvin ship to be fully crewed with wandering Kelvin crewmembers. In addition the one Kelvin Mission we get doesn't really allow for much exploration of that universe.

I did not. What I mean is that my icons aren't going to make Kelvin Universe sounds when I click them like the AoY expansion makes them make ToS sounds.

STO has its own universe that is separate from the Prime Universe, Kelvin Universe, novel Universe, and Mirror Universe. All the Kelvin Universe content is being marketed as coming from the Kelvin Universe not a parallel version of the Kelvin Universe.
STO has already affected the Kelvin Universe by depicting what a Romulan ship in the Kelvin Universe looks like. Paramount must have approved of this decision, but it still doesn't change the fact that there is a T'laru Carrier Warbird in the Kelvin Universe. With a Kelvin Faction, Paramount will have to approve some event where people from the Kelvin Universe travel to the STO Universe.
Abrams reboot is NOT my fav trek, BUT I do like the idea of it in this game. I would rather have Abrams Reboot than more non-canon stuff....
I am looking forward to getting a T6 Constitution Abrams style, and the pulse hand phasers. It's refreshing and a great addition to our in-game family.
With the new virtual Reality Star Trek Bridge Crew game taking place in the JJ Abrams Reboot, I think it's entirely appropriate for STO to do a separate server to continue the Abrams Universe with it's own voice actors. In fact I think it's a way to keep Star Trek Online alive longer and appeal to younger newer Trek Fans who were turned on to Trek through the Abrams Reboot...
I think it would be a mistake NOT to do this. Lets see a new server with fun new game Mechanics that takes place entirely in the Kelvin Timeline. It'll be GREAT on PS4 and XBOX one as well!!!

Cryptic can't even write for two FACTIONS and you want them to run two GAMES?! If they did this STO would shut down in favor or JJSTO
