#Kelvin Faction!

captsolcaptsol Member Posts: 921 Arc User
Gecko just mentioned it on Tribbles in Ecstacy! Let's make this happen, people! A new universe, new adventures, new aliens, tier 1-5 Kelvin ships that aren't in a lockbox! Think about it! We could get Karl Urban as McCoy! Pine as Kirk! Quinto as Spock!

I don't have to, Gecko mentioned it as something they might do if there's enough demand! Let's make it happen!

Ugh please no. Way more deserving groups for their own faction.
We've been dancing around the Cardassian faction for years, they go next.

Why play a Cardassian that's just going to be folded into the Federation in the end? ;)

I would support this, if the devs were able to allocate the time and resources to flesh it out fully. With the new movie coming out at the end of the month, there could be enough fan support, and it might attract more players.

I think it would behoove us to see how Agents of Yesterday plays out first though, since it is similar in scope, I think. Perhaps a 'Kelvin Faction" could be Feds with a story arc that takes them up to at least Captain before tying them into the temporal agents plotline. A more fleshed out subfaction perhaps.

I would support it, but I will also be content simply owning all of the Kelvin lockbox goodies on my main.

I don't know if the game will be around long enough, but if it is this will happen.

We'll know a lot more after comiccon. I wouldn't be surprised to see the new show set in fast and furious verse. Though maybe not until the 2nd season to lure the old timers in.

After that I could see all of the old retconned out of existence.

I have always said I would be here until the lights went out. However, I will be gone the first real Kirk, Spock, Picard, Scotty, etc that is replaced with a replicant.

There's so much to explore, though. So many things that are out there in that universe we don't know about. What's V'Ger up to in that universe? The Borg? How are the Romulans taking the knowledge Hobus will explode one day? How powerful is Rihanna's Sledgehammer as a melee weapon?

We know full well that sledgehammer is kelvin timeline.

Which is why we need a Kelvin Faction to discover how powerful it is!

only if we get kelvin klingons to. do we really need 3 fed tutorials.

I've thought about this being a sensible possibility after they came up with TOS faction. Yeah, I used to hate the idea of that side of trek coming in here, I don't care anymore, and anything to keep STO thriving, fine by me.

Why not, since the Federation/Starfleet faction is where they have stated the vast majority of their playerbase is, it would make sense to add another sub-faction to that. If they also allow Klingon and Romulan unlocks on our accounts similar to what they're doing with AOY (TOS style Gorn for KDF) then I'd be fine with it.

They should be looking at merging the existing factions into one. Not creating more divisions.

I don't see a need to demand it over all other possibilities... But I'd certainly make a captain or two using it if it were part of the tools at hand :).

to say the least. on a not unrelated note anyone know a nice cozy area feds and kdf can both use preferable with no bad guys or anything to get in the way.

Well, considering that there were faction specific 29th century timeships, and then there were the new 31st century timeships, that would place the unification of the feds, Klingons and Romulans sometime between the 29th and 31st century. So no, no need to unite the factions just yet.
