wait, so this isn't an announcement of a second one? Just more details. Ok, I'll put my goodbye letter on hold.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
Regardless of the fanbase's admittedly mixed view of the Kelvin timeline, I think this was the next logical move for the game. There are a lot of ENT and VOY haters out there, but there is plenty of ENT and VOY-themed stuff in this game, and if Cryptic turned a profit by introducing it, it stands to reason that there are also people who enjoy ENT and VOY.
And while there are many JJ haters on these forums, there are also JJ fans here (myself included) that would quite possibly pay out the nose to get a Vengeance or a "JJ-Prise."
And maybe the "T6 Connie" crowd will finally shut up! Wouldn't that be something?
No, I won't shut up. JJ Spoof Ship is not a Connie or Connie Refit. I will still want a Connie Refit in T6. And I won't settle for something to be hauled away as garbage.

Ha a new place to conquer. I like this from their blog. Others have looked on them as unique opportunities to exploit, the consequences to the natives be damned.

So is this new mission being missed this time for the Tribble server? It's not been mentioned whether its going to be available on Tribble or not like the rest of the threads?
I think I speak for the entire STO community when I say missions in the Kelvin Timeline is a positive move, and I look forward to this bold new direction STO is heading.
You're totally not speaking for the entire community, there are a lot of Kelvin Timeline haters out there.
Are there? I thought it was universally agreed by all that the Star Trek films from the Kelvin Timeline are among the best in the franchise and loved by all Star Trek fans?
The same way delta rising was the best expansion ever and the players loved it.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

He's right. JJ's trek is not true trek for a lot of people.
Still wondering where and when these extra 20 odd unique TOS missions are going to hit Tribble, to make them at least as big as the Romulan faction??
Not a lot of time to get these onto Tribble for testing....
Unlikely to happen. If they do exist they'll be only seen at launch. It's more likely that the TOS characters get the beginning levels as seen on Tribble until they're around level 10. Then you'll see a new 'Time' mission every x levels or so while playing through the regular 25th Century Federation Content.

If the T6 Connie is that pile of **** JJ shat out and called the Enterprise, no I know I wont shut up. Even if it allows me to use the Original Enterprise Skin, the thought of allowing that putrescent pile of **** near any of my toons sickens me.
And even though I could spend the zen to buy the left over ****, I would rather fry my account than allow anything go to support JJ.

You don't speak for me so don't even think that this will be one of the missions I will never play even if I stay with STO which is doubtful in the direction it seems to be heading

It could be "likely" that they are holding back episodes like LoR as far as not to spoil the entire story. We don't even know what is up with Admiral Leeta yet.

It seems highly unlikely that you're going to see a straight T6 version of a two-hundred-year-old design. That'd be like taking Old Ironsides out of mothballs, refurbishing her with some modern guns, and putting her on the front lines of the current US Navy.
Therefore, I'd recommend you pull that stick out (it must make sitting down uncomfortable, no?), and learn to enjoy things for what they are, rather than hating them for what they're not.

I know, but I have to at least try to get the devs to realize that this "expansion" is barely fit for purpose, and that 80% of it consists of ships that a far from free...

whats wrong with mk-1 eyeball and iron sights? the design has worked well for a long time and there are still people who use those weapons with ironsights in regular army even 200 years after the invention on rifles, shotguns and such and even with scopes on the market, iron sights are still a common sight.
just because it is old doesnt mean it cant be pulled out of mothballs, refitted for service and given some modern technologies to help it along, but essentially the same ship with the ability to stand up in a fight.

I may bookmark this post, so what when I'm throwing gobs of money at the new lockbox, if I have a moment of doubt that it's all worth it, I can look at this and think "Hell yes. Give me another $20 of keys please!"
Because I'm pretty sure they want my money more than they want your approval.
JJ Abrams is a very good filmmaker. He basically pulled on-screen Star Trek back from the death Enterprise and Nemesis drove it into, then made the best Star Wars movie ever (and, in the process, moved my own SW fandom from casual to on par with my Trek fandom).
I hope he's getting money for this. He deserves it.
You needn't worry about your reward. If money is all that you love, then that's what you'll receive.

Iron sights are only a "common sight" in arenas where the latest tech isn't necessary for survival. You're not going to find, say, a modern battlefield sniper trying to drop an enemy from better than a kilometer away using iron sights. And if you disregard the targeting computer aboard your M1A1, you're not going to get many hits with the main gun (but you will get an epic chewing-out back at base).
At sea or in the air, it's even worse - you're usually firing at targets that aren't even visible to the naked eye. Modern jet fighters carry guns onboard only as last-ditch weapons (if the enemy is on your side of the horizon, you've already failed at your job; dogfights aren't really a thing any more). Note particularly that in the latest generations, the F-22 Raptor carries 4.8 seconds worth of rounds for the onboard cannon, and of the three models of F-35, only the F-35A is slated to have guns at all. We use missiles these days. (And even the cannon on old F-15s, -16s, and -18s are slaved to the targeting computer.)
The sailing ship USS Constitution would last until the first time the enemy targeted her. Then she'd be splinters. And something similar would happen if you foolishly insisted on taking your old Constitution-class cruiser up against a Voth Bulwark-class - even if you swap out the old phasers for the very latest in antiproton/tetryon arrays.

Yes, I'm well aware of that. I said that in the same way iconians praised Cryptic for this timeline earlier in the thread (i.e. dripping sarcasm).
Your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved 800 lives, including your mother's, and yours.

Looking back, everyone would have been better off if Solo took the money and bailed.
