Could see that as a small craft. If they could get the USS Kelvin as well... technically she is prime universe as she existed BEFORE Nero's incursion.
I can't seem to remember which movie or tv show the Kelvin appeared in. And everytime I IMDB Star Trek: The Prime Universe, I don't get any entries for a show or movie. What's up with that?
Chronoligically speeking she existed before Nero's incursion. Had Nero not popped up in front of her and destroyed her, the Kelvin would have returned to Earth and the universe we grew up with would be the result. The destruction of the Kelvin was the branching point creating the Alternate Reality.
Media wise the Kelvin never showed up until the '09 movie.
Hence the use of the word "Technically" in my last post.
You forgot a choice: "neither".
They WILL be in Lock Boxes.

"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
That is assuming that Nero and Spock went back in time and not some parallel universe that looks like the 23rd Century. It is the differences before the Kelvin was destroyed that determine if it was time travel or dimensional travel.
My answer would be both depending on the ship. The Kelvin, Jellyfish, and Narada would be C-Store ships since the Jellyfish and Narada originally were from the STO Universe in the 24th Century while the Kelvin could have been around in the 23rd Century. The JJprise, Vengeance, and D4 ship would be lockbox ships since they were all created after the Kelvin was destroyed. The D4 ship could be made into a C-Store ship if it was created before the Kelvin was destroyed.
So this is the part of the whole "prime" universe thing I've never understood.
It's still a JJ Abrams jawn. That ship comes from his film, is part of his contribution to Trek. As is the jellyfish.
It's just as much a part of JJ Trek as anything else JJ Abrams' team worked on.

Think of it like a tree branch that has a second, smaller branch that comes off that. The main branch is everything we know and grew up with. The secondary branch is the Alternate Reality from the reboot movies. Up until it branches off, everything's the same. The point at which it branches is where the Alternate Reality actually begins. It wouldn't have existed without the base "Prime" Universe existing.
Frankly the Prime/Alternate Reality thing in Star Trek is a lot easier to understand than the myraid continuities in Transformers, the Marvel comics/movies, or Terminator.
So overall... Star Trek is pretty easy to understand when compared to some of the other known franchises that have delved into parallel realities.
True. That would be no different than comparing what B&B brought in with Enterprise compared to TNG and TOS. They've added to it, just like JJ Abrams has.
Who made it doesn't really factor in when we're talking in universe.
In Universe, nothing in the timeline changed until the Narada appeared before the Kelvin. Out of universe... it is all JJ Abrams contributions. All of it.
