At the operation command centre, the Brigands and the Shadows watched the map as more communication intercepts were being read and the map updated. After charting smuggler routes into Terra, Smith had worked out what path would be the stealthiest in. His conclusion was enough to make him turn pale in shock, one shadow team might not be enough to stop Hades in the event of Hades finding the facility on Luna. Covertly, Inquisition teams were also sent to reinforce the Shadows on Luna. Each operative was screened telepathically and followed up by a background check before being deployed.

On Betazed, Trianna and Shade were working on a new system to track Hades. Inside the stolen rings was a micro tracking device installed by Shade, this was standard procedure if a Shadow went rogue and Shade planned to track Hade's movement via this back door in. Trianna made sure that the loyalist equipment was cleaned of any old trackers and replaced by newer ones of her design, the only people to get the tracker codes were the Empress and Shade. Now they waited as news streamed into operations, Smith could only sit there and wait as he was getting concerns. Trianna joined him on a two hour shift before going to spend family time with Isoisa.

Teanna arrived along with Trianna (yellow) via cargo ship. Immediately they were arrested and interrogated, both pleaded guilty to their crimes and detained under close guard on Los Lobos so the Empress always had her eye on them. After speaking with the interrogator, Heath though tempted to execute them both thought better of it. Teanna had committed the worse offense by attacking defenseless target and Trianna had committed the least severe offense by rounding up dissidents, both admitted that they were only following orders to make the enemies of the empire fear them, orders issued by the late Admiral Valdez (yellow) and that they would make things right even if it killed either one of them.

They were determined to regain their honor.

Sito Thay stretched as she lay on the beach chair. The large hat, pulled down over her face, shielded her head from the sun.
This has to be the most comfortable meeting spot to plot be an assassination that there ever was, she thought. She waved the waiter over for a refill.
As much as I want to get this done, he can take his time getting here.
"This is a hell of a meeting place," a voice interrupted her relaxing.
"You had better not be in uniform," she sighed. "That would ruin everything before it even started."
"How dumb do you think I am?"
"Do you really want me to answer that?"
      "You know I can leave..."
"And pass up the opportunity to get your revenge on Layress? I don't think so. So sit your human butt down so you stop drawing attention to us."
Burt Wallace, Captain of the USS Lexington, sat in the chair next to her.
      "So, talk."
"You know there are two of them now?"
"Yeah," he snorted. "Admiral Implants, captain of the Barbie Boat. And now Empress Implants, of the mirror universes."
"And if I told you that there are those that want to get rid of one of them?"
      "Which one?"
"Primarily, the mirror one. Although I don't see why we couldn't make the other look like an accident."
      "I'm listening."
"There are groups over there that are even less fond of her than we are."
"I didn't think that was possible."
"She just has that effect on people. Anyway this group has one of their agents Over here. I mean to make contact with them and offer whatever assistance they may need to carry out their mission."
      "And what is thier mission?"
      "Killing Empress Implants."
"I can get behind that. So why contact me?"
"I want you to go meet them."
      "Me? Why's that?"
"Within the next two weeks, they'll have that new minefield operational. After that getting back them back in to their universe will be much more difficult. While you retrieve them, I will succure our ability to make it through their defenses unharmed."
      "And then what?"
"Well assuming that you haven't pissed them off and they've killed you, we will help them with their mission."
      "Killing Empress Implants?"
"That Traitorous TRIBBLE deserves nothing else. She's turned her back on everything the Federation ever stood for. And after everything that she's done to you..."
"That ship should have been Mine. That Sovereign they gave her should have been Mine. They rewarded her for getting her ship shot out from under her. And then she infected my ship that with virus... The replicators produced nothing but tube worms for a month. And those hook spiders she hid in the..."
"Keep your voice down," she hissed. She smiled though at the fact that he had failed to mention that he had altered her ships warp signature to make it read 'USS Barbie Boat'. Layress had done all that to him in retaliation.
His anger is useful, she thought.
      "So, are you in?"
      "Definitely."
"Good. Flag down the waiter. I need a refill."

"I knew that the Federation couldn't be trusted," Callie ranted. "You can't trust those fedr..."
"You need to break yourself of ever using that term again," Thay interrupted her. "How would your girlfriend feel is you slipped and said that around her?"
"I... I know. I need to stop. But they just make me so mad."
"Trust me. I understand. But we must follow the plan."
The two were walking through the halls of the ship.
"I know," Callie said. "She wants absolute proof of any interference before she acts."
"And when she does act, she will strike at their leadership and topple it."
      "And then what?"
      Thay smiled.
"I see no problem in having her rule three universes."
"Is that her plan or yours?"
"She can only make things better over there."
"You do know that she wouldn't let harvest Trills from there for your collection."
      "I can be very persuasive."
"So can she. Or should I say her TRIBBLE are."
"Speaking of her royal bounciness, we're here."
They stopped outside the door to the on board throne room.
"Why am I here again?" Callie asked.
"I need you to check something."
"Alright, let's get this over with."
      The two entered and bowed.
"May we have a word with... WHAT THE HELL?"
      Thay smiled at her outburst.
There were two Empresses in the room in front of them.
      "What..."
"Can you tell who the real one is?"
Callie walked up and looked at both of them up and down.
      "They look... identical."
      "Good."
"Except the one on the right, her nose looks more red and irritated from the constant sneezing."
"hmm... we'll have to fix that."
"But otherwise, yeah I can't tell."
"That's what I want to hear. Callie, would you be so kind as to escort the 'Empress' to sick bay to have that taken care of? We'll be departing for Terra within the hour and we need her to be perfect."
      "Alright. Come along... My Empress."
"That's going to take some getting use."
"You'll get use to it Admiral. And thank you."
"It's my privilege to serve, in any capacity,"
Thay watched the two of them leave then turned to face the remaining one.
      "So who are you?"
      "Excuse me?"
"Its very good, you fooled Callie. But you're not Lazy."
      "What are you talking about?"
"Lazy and I have some strange connection thanks to those annoying wormhole aliens. I don't understand it, but I know you're not her. So who are..."
Several loud sneezes came from the other room.
      "Now that's my Lazy."
Another Layress came in rubbing her nose.
"I thought she had fooled you as well."
"Almost. If it wasn't for that connection between us she might have. but who is she?"
The first Layress smiled then turned a shimmering liquid gold.
      "Oh, your changeling friend."
"Yes Admiral," she said returning to her default human form. "It was the Empress's idea."
"In case someone does get on board," Layress explained. "Cassie here will take my place."
      "And where will you be?"
"Right here. We're going to install a small holo-cabinet right in front of the door. It'll replicate this room and..."
"I'll be in there waiting for them," Cassie finished. "They will be in for quite the surprise."
"Normally I wouldn't care if people tried to kill me," Layress put her hands on her stomach. "But I can't put these two in danger."
      Thay nodded her approval.
      "Finally, you're being reasonable."
"I don't have a choice. So for the next few month's, I will rule by my puppet proxy. From now on, everyone gets to think she's the Empress. I did warn her that if she goes off the script I give her I'll make the changes to her permanent."
      "Bad girl."

Petrofski was at his post intercepting communications when the the word Lexington came up. This was brought straight to Smith and Shade immediately as soon as it came in. "Corsair, Shade. Something you both need to hear" said Petrofski via a secure com channel. Smith, Trianna and Shade all took seats and listened in on what was being said. "14 days, mines and Lexington" noted Trianna carefully. "Ghost, you've found a pattern" said Shade smirking. "According to my sources within Imperial intelligence, the minefields on our side of the Arawath border will be completed in two weeks. I also did some background checks on Sito Thay, she was held captive and tortured for two years by the Imperial Consort before she was released as part of a POW exchange. A perfect candidate to help Hades, she's angry and therefore more agreeable to Hades' cause. Lexington could mean a ship or place though ship would be more logical" answered Trianna.

"So we have a time frame to work with" asked Smith. "Inform the empress and send her our findings, Corsair, it's time to plan a sting" advised Trianna. "Indeed, we want to catch Hades and his rogue Fed ally together. Alive preferably" added Shade. "What have our Section 31 prisoners coughed up?" asked Smith. "Interestingly, under persuasion they mentioned a bio weapon. They were planning a raid on Luna to secure it but they were caught before they could act" answered Trianna. "A weapon Hades must not find" added Shade. "We can track Hades, in the rings he stole, there is a tracker that can only be disabled by the original owner. He's on Turkana IV, a failed Federation colony abandoned for over 20 years" said Trianna. "Perfect meeting place, somewhere nobody would even consider looking" replied Smith. "Except that meeting is going to be crashed, my operatives have been shadowing Hades and Sito Thay for some time now. Sito just met with a Captain Burt Wallace on Risa, they're making their move within the next fortnight" answered Trianna.

"Time to inform her excellency" said Smith as everything were sent by Inquisition channels securely straight to the empress.

        "Excellent work General."
        "Thank you ma'am."
"But I must ask you to hold off on detaining them."
"Why ma'am? We have them dead to rights."
"I need to know if this is a captain gone rogue or part of a bigger plot. And for that I need to have them on our side of the divide when you take them. If you take them on their side, they will demand to know what we are doing there in their territory. When I state my case against them, I need all our evidence to be indisputable. The Federation officers must be captured violating Imperial Space to make this stick. We must play the long game with this."

"New instructions, we're to grab them on our side of the divide" said Smith to his team. "Latest intercepts have discovered something interesting, we found codes from three admirals in Starfleet Command. Names are Cartwright, Leyton and V'Las, they all have links to Section 31" said Petrofski. "Add that to Hades, Sito and Wallace and we have a conspiracy to start a Federation/Terran war, rogue elements opposed to the Empress" said Trianna. "That's why we're going to be waiting for them, when they arrive they will be intercepted and detained alive. Shade, take command of Warrior and take small Shadow group and go to Arawath. Admiral, take the Athena and a small group and head to the Badlands in 36 hours. Meanwhile Ghost and I will direct operations from here" said Smith.

"General" answered both Shade and Naynta. "Our goal is to prevent a war from starting, everyone understood?" asked Smith. "Clear general" chorused the team.

"The Empress has reemerged, it's time to remove her" said Hades to his fellow conspirators. "We go in 48 hours, they will not be expecting us" said Captain Wallace. "We get in via Awarath and get the job done before leaving" replied Sito. Little did they know that their plot was being intercepted by Imperial operatives who covertly sent the information back to the Brigands.

        Betazed (MU red)

"They're moving in 48 hours, time to prepare the trap" said Trianna. "Put operation Wasp into action. Move to your intercept positions, Inquisition groups will support you" ordered Smith. "General" answered his team as Naynta and Shade left for their ships. On Betazed, security increased as Wasp was put into operation. "Time to inform her excellency" said Smith. "Let me do it" asked Trianna. "Putting you through via Inquisition channels now" answered Smith. "Thanks Corsair" replied Trianna as she took her seat and reported to the Empress.

Admiral Thay stood next to the seated Empress on the screen. The Empress smiled.
"Oh Burt, you always were such an idiot. I want them all alive. The Admiral here is curious to see her other self again. Once captured, bring her to Terra."
          The Admiral leaned forward.
"The other ship's crew is to be given to Naynta to work on. Tell her they are her top priority and she has my permission to do whatever it takes to get the info I want."
"Hades," the Empress said calmly. "Is yours. You may do what you want with him as long as it is ultimately fatal."
          "Understood ma'am."
          The screen went blank.
"Very good," Thay said. "She didn't suspect. Although the real Lazy wouldn't let me be so vicious. Remember to complain about that."
"I assumed that she wouldn't care about someone who wanted to kill her children."
"She's funny that way. She's more into the long term suffering instead of outright killing of those who need it. But i figure she's cranky enough to want to see her long time tormentor scream."

          Awarath (MU red)

A small Inquisition and Shadow group waited cloaked as the U.S.S. Lexington came through the rift. "Set course for Luna, there's something I need to retrieve" said Hades as the Lexington prepared to leave the system. Aboard Warrior, Shade watched and waited before making her move. "Knock out engine, weapons and communications" ordered Shade. "Hi guys" said T'pamne as the Inquisition/Shadow group decloaked surrounding the Lexington and fired. Tractor mines were now released holding the ship in place.

"They're trying to activate their self destruct, taking out their secondary command processors now" said T'Pamne as she fired again. The Lexington was boarded and Hades' android doubles suddenly deactivated as Imperial storm troopers and Shadows boarded the ship securing engineering and secondary command before storming the bridge. It was cleared as the entire crew were stunned and the rest detained and marched to the cargo hold before being sealed in. Sito, Wallace and Hades were rounded up and transferred to cells aboard Warrior. After confirming that it was the real Hades, Shade removed the stolen rings and subjected Hades to the booth to make herself feel better.

The group then towed the Lexington to Betazed to pick up Smith and the rest of the team along with their intel. Smith placed Papela in charge until he got back with instructions to keep the peace. The small group of ships linked up with Naynta as the Lexington crew were beamed over to Naynta's booths for interrogation. Sito and Wallace however were interrogated by Smith and Trianna via the booth as Trianna tried her new mind probes out on Wallace. His screams and pleas for mercy were heard all the way down the corridor. Trianna now decided to soften up Sito as she protested she was a Federation officer. Trianna showed no mercy to her as she implanted a agony chip into Sito's skull. "Your friends will be dealt with accordingly, until we get to Terra you are my plaything and I'm going to enjoy this" said Trianna smiling with a menacing intent as she remotely activated the implant before having having Ibarid Pitaskli throw Sito into the booth. Sito's screams were heard as Trianna had her fun with her.

At Terra, the small group of ships was escorted in by the Los Lobos all the way to the royal dock and the prisoners dragged all the way to the throne room aboard Los Lobos by their legs. Hades however was kept in Shadow custody for Shade's judgement. Sito was thrown down to the floor followed by a swift kick from Trianna (red) who enjoyed every minute of it. In the throne room was the empress, Admiral Heath Thay and the Valdez family (yellow). Wallace managed to overcome a guard and grab his phaser, he pointed it at Layress's stomach but Teanna took the full force of the phaser blast as Wallace was taken down. Trianna (yellow) just saw red and in a fit pure rage beat Wallace down, rage soon turned to tears as she vented out all her anger before sitting down holding her head crying and hoping her mother was going to survive. Teanna was taken straight down to sickbay for emergency treatment as Trianna (yellow) was calmed down by Trianna (red). Thay looked down on the captive Captain Sito and smiled, "I'll look forward to this" she said afterwards as Captain Sito was dragged to the cells.

"Wakey wakey" said Smith as he poured a bucket of water onto Captain Sito. "General, thank you for the gift" said Thay smiling as Captain Sito was strapped to a shivering after the soaking. "The reason you cannot move your arms or legs is we've injected a paralyzing agent, it's very painful by the looks of it" said Smith smiling. "I'm a captain in the UFP, I demand to be released!" protested Sito. "No you are **** to be wiped off my boot" answered Smith. "She smells like it too, what is that stench?" added Thay . "Fear, she reeks of it it. Oh I've got a perfect name for her, Reek" said Trianna with a smile. "Looks like you had your fun with her, you bad little Betazoid" said Thay with a smirk.

"Me and Naynta got creative in my lab, here's the remote for the agony implant I had implanted into Reek's skull" answered Trianna laughing as she demonstrated the device. As the screams got louder, Thay just smiled at Trianna's ruthless side emerging. "Boss, she needs another shower. Make it really cold" said Trianna as Smith and Ibarid just poured a gallon of ice cold water onto Captain Sito. "Thay, she's all yours" said Trianna as she and Smith left to join the rest of the crew and the shadows at the bar at the palace. "General, I owe your crew for the rescue and productive partnership" said Shade as she got the bar tender's attention. "A round of Tequila for these loyal soldiers and something non-alcoholic for my friend" requested Shade as she joined the Brigands at their usual tables. The drinks came in as the Shadows and Brigands relaxed for the first time in weeks as they enjoyed their break. Dexter and Mereu Smith looked at each other and smiled as Shade took a unit photo. Trianna and Isoisa Bray also smiled as they looked at each other.

"Brigands, all smiles please" said Shade, the Brigands all smiled as the official Brigand photo was taken. They wanted to hang it up in their mess hall on Betazed. But as long as there was the threat of other rogue elements endangering the empress, they would be back at work always vigilant.

Smith and Trianna were both called into the Empress's office, "General, Colonel, take a seat please" said Heath after both officers saluted. "Ma'am" chorused both officers as they took their seats. Heath then passed them two PADDs and briefed them, "those are a list of demands, make sure you flood Federation networks because it's time the Empire sends a very clear message." "How public?" asked Smith. "Right into everyone's living areas" answered Heath. "I think Captain Sito should read the statement live on INN along with Captain Wallace, why execute them when you can humiliate them first?" asked Trianna. "Nice, I like it" answered Smith smiling.

"I'll deliver the ultimatum, you're to join the Terran First fleet because you're going to be the muscle. I've spoken to someone I trust, you are to deliver some terms to the Federation. The terms are The arrest and extradition of Admirals Richard Cartwright, T'las and Edward Leyton as well as the dismantling of Section 31. Failure by the Federation government to comply to these terms means we'll come get them ourselves and we're not coming alone, I want that to heard by everyone" said Heath reading the terms. "What if Starfleet tries to stop us?" asked Trianna. "Don't worry about that, I've got that covered" answered Heath. "Since this is a high risk operation, I request Colonel Bray be posted here at Terra" asked Smith. "Accepted on health grounds" answered Heath. "I'm not going to protest" answered Trianna. "You have more important things to worry about" replied Smith. "Boss, good point" answered Trianna.

"I'll need Colonel Bray's assistance here in getting into their network" said Heath. "Bring it on, I do enjoy a challenge" answered Trianna enthusiastically. "General, prepare your ship and crew because you leave within the hour. Link up with the First fleet at Antares and await instructions" ordered Heath. "Ma'am" answered Smith. "Colonel, report to my cyber warfare team. Take control of their communications, once secured then we broadcast" ordered Heath. "Ma'am" answered Trianna. "Dismissed" said Heath, both officers got up, saluted and left the room and headed to their assignments. Aboard Warrior, Smith took to the chair as the Warrior jumped to warp. "Antares, maximum warp" ordered Smith. "Parking break off and we're good to go" answered Isoisa. "Engage" ordered Smith.

"This is not what I told her to say!"
                "Calm down Lazy."
"Calm? How can I be calm when that idiot is about to get us into a war!"
"She thought what you wrote wasn't strong enough..."
"What I wrote appealed to the Federation officer's sense of right and wrong. When confronted with the facts of what happened they will let us through without a single shot being fired because they have to. It's the right thing to do. That ultimatum of hers will back them in a corner, from which they will lash out and another war begins. I will not have that happen!"
                "Lazy, you..."
"Look at this. How in the name of the Prophets are they suppose to discuss the information we send them if we jam their communications? I'm going to tell what she is going to say. And if she deviates from it by one word, she's Tamiko's chew toy for the next year. Now I suggest you record this so she can get it right."
Thay stopped trying to argue and complied.
"People of the Federation and the Alliance, this is Heath Layress, Empress of the Twin Empires. In the past we have worked together. You even came to our assistance when the Dominion attacked us. For this, we have been grateful. We have treasured the newly founded peaceful relationship that now exists between our two governments.
However, it has recently come to light that elements within the Federation don't want that relationship to endure. They have actively attempted to kill me. You are all now receiving copies of the information that we have obtained from their operatives outlining their plot along with those that gave them their orders. Yes they gave them orders to kill a pregnant woman. This is not what the Federation stands for. Some may consider me a traitor for being where I am, but I ask you are the people that would give such orders any better?
You have the information in your hands. Hold them accountable for their actions, for in one day I will be at the border to the Badlands. I do not intend to fire on any Alliance ship, but I am coming to get them and I am not coming alone.
I appeal to the captains of those ships that they will send to block our way. Do you really want to defend those that would give such orders? I await your decision at the badlands."
                "interesting speech. Will it work?"
"Did you send of copy of the data to the 113th like I said?"
                "yes."
                "And?"
"They said that the way would be clear when we arrived."
"Good, and let the fleet know that unless they are fired upon first, no one is to fire. Anyone who does will be left behind for the Alliance to deal with."

                Alliance space (Prime)

All over Alliance space, INN suddenly took over every network and broadcast live from the Los Lobos. Heath now appeared on every news outlet and monitor and made her speech, "People of the Federation and the Alliance, this is Heath Layress, Empress of the Twin Empires.

Immediately, high up figures within Starfleet and the Federation government began to sweat as protests grew calling for impeachment. Aboard Warrior, Trianna was back. She was to act as fleet intel aboard Warrior. "Ghost, nice work on the coms hijack" said Smith. "Do you think they'll see sense?" asked Trianna. "They better do. Strict fire discipline, instructions are anyone who fires first will be left for the Alliance to deal with" said Smith. "Fleet acknowledged" reported Trianna. "Good, prepare a list individuals to be handed over" replied Smith. "Boss" answered Trianna, she then went to her office.

                  Federation Space (Prime)

The Terran First fleet came through the rift led by Los Lobos and immediately set course for Earth. On Earth, protesters had taken over the airwaves as veterans and citizen all made their voices heard. In Paris, a angry mob all led by Trianna Valdez and her husband took over the entrance hall to the Federation council to make sure their grievances were heard. "How many of us here have made sacrifices for the Federation and it's ideals?" asked Trianna via loudspeaker. A sea of hands rose as the protesters got louder. "The people responsible must be held accountable, they are dishonorable cowards who hide behind their desks in the government at at Starfleet. The sacrifices we all made for our ideals have been betrayed and twisted into a cancer that must be cut. We demand justice and those responsible removed and arrested" said Trianna to a Federation News Service reporter.

Aboard the ships of the first fleet, everyone watched the protests. "Your friend is quite the Spitfire" said Dexter Smith to Trianna Bray. "I can see why she's angry, she sacrificed too much for the Federation and she like many feel betrayed. The people's anger is justified" answered Trianna. "I agree, let's just hope no one is foolish enough to get in our way" replied Smith. "ETA to Earth?" asked Trianna. "24 hours Ghost" answered Isoisa. "A Federation battle group ahead, 30 ships blocking our path to Earth" reported Wilkinson. On Los Lobos, Heath smiled after sneezing. So far Starfleet had not opposed them until now so Heath sent out a message to all Federation ships to get out of the area. Some ships like the Kamakura and Peleliu just left the area as well as the battle group sent to block the first fleet. "The supreme victory is one gained without even fighting" said Heath to Thay. "They're scared, last time Terran ships entered Sol, we gave them something to remember" answered Thay.

On Warrior, Smith had the lists of names the Empire wanted. He even asked Heath for permission to hand their grievances to the Federation President and Starfleet command in full view of the Federation media.

"You all have seen the data. What do you think?"
Heath stood in in the holodeck. Around her were Holo images of those captains under her command along with many of her friends and other fleet commanders.
"I believe," started Captain Michael Ford of the Constellation. "I speak for most if not all of us when I say this. From day one at the academy we were taught one thing. Obey the Prime Directive. Never interfere in another cultures development. Even if it means our own lives, we are to die rather than interfere. And now they have attempted that very thing. I will not put my crew in harms way to protect them."
There were there were many shouts of agreement.
"Let's make this simple," Heath said. "Is there anyone here that will stand up for them?"
"I'm not sure I like having them running around here," Admiral Orca stated.
"Neither do I, and I'm fairly certain that whoever is in charge of security for the communication security has been fired by now," Captain Draigon Observed. "by the way, everyone switch you comm systems over to manual approval. It'll require all incoming signals to be manually accepted."
"Thanks Draigon," Heath said. "I propose that we escort them to earth and back to the rift to keep an eye on them. They may do nothing else except go there to present their case and request their extradition."
"The fourth fleet agrees." came a voice
"As does the seventh. we're arriving on station now."
"Then we all agree." Heath said. "It's time to send our message. 'Follow us and be good guests'."

                    Earth (Prime)

The Terran First Fleet entered orbit under Starfleet escort. Immediately, Smith beamed down to Paris with Trianna and a protection detail. In full view of the Federation media, they marched into the entrance hall of the Federation Council and headed straight to President Okeg's office. Okeg was sat behind his desk waiting for them as Smith, Trianna and their protection detail asked for the media to be present, the Federation News Service caught on and in full view of the cameras Smith and Trianna presented Okeg with the Empire's list of grievances and a request for the arrest and extradition of those listed. "Mr President, we are being very reasonable here. Your Federation claims to uphold your Prime Directive but rogue elements tore it up when they tried to murder a pregnant woman, this is unacceptable. Look at the protests, your people are angry as are many of your captains and admirals" said Trianna.

"Our two governments don't want war, instead let's work as allies in removing this cancer of those rogue elements within the Federation. These are the people we are after and the dismantling of Section 31, the people of the Alliance know what these parasites have done and they are demanding justice. Those names not on the list can breath easy, those on the list must be placed under arrest and handed over to us where they'll face a Terran court to answer for what they have done" said Smith. "We have full confessions of the operatives we caught, here is our evidence. Make sure this becomes public" added Trianna. "This will cause a political scandal, some of these names are highly influential. A scandal like this could topple my government" answered Okeg shocked at the lengths Section 31 would go to.

"Why jump in bed with Section 31 then?" asked Trianna. "Evidently, Section 31 have a lot to answer for. General, send my thanks to the Empress for bringing this to my attention. I'll allow Imperial troops to work alongside Starfleet security in making these arrests as a sign of co-operation" answered Okeg. "That will be acceptable" replied Smith. "Was all that on record?" asked Trianna. "It was" answered Okeg. All over Earth, Federation and Imperial officers rounded up those who's names were on the list and they were placed under arrest before being handed over to the Empire. When the protesters saw high ranking Federation officials being escorted out cuffed flanked by Imperial and Federation security officers they turned their anger on them. Cries of "cowards, rats and scum" were heard as the protesters aired their grievances. Trianna Valdez even smiled when she saw her counterpart yelling "move!!!"

Back Los Lobos, Trianna reported straight to Heath that they had got what they came for but she had a request. She asked Heath would it be possible if she could arrange a supervised visit for her to see her baby sister and her counterpart.

After a supervised visit to Earth, Trianna was back aboard. "All ships prepare to leave orbit" ordered Heath as the Terran first fleet turned and left Sol escorted by three Federation fleets. Once at the Badlands both forces parted ways as the first fleet returned to their reality. Once across the border, Heath had the prisoners sealed into a cargo bay as she watched the security feed. Aboard Warrior, Smith was in a very good mood and morale was high. "What a result, well done all of you" said Smith with a smile. "It was worth it, we got what we came for and avoided a war. It's a superb result" replied Trianna smiling. "Trust us to cause a political scandal" joked Smith. "That's what they get for hiding these rats" answered Trianna.

"How did things go with your counterpart?" asked Smith. "Very well, my baby sister is doing very well. I told my counterpart what you called her, her reaction was modest about it but it did cause a smile from her family" answered Trianna. "How's the Admiral doing these days?" asked Smith. "Retired and living in peace, he asked about us. we've earned his respect" answered Trianna. "That's good, did you hear what just aired on the Federation News?" asked Smith. "No" answered Trianna. "The Federation government has been forced to call early elections, the current government will stand down afterwards over this scandal" answered Smith. "Did we just topple the Federation government?" asked Trianna.

"We did in a sense, let's just say the Empress's mood has improved somewhat about this" answered Smith. "I bet, when we get back to Betazed let's just celebrate" replied Trianna. The Warrior emerged at Betazed six hours later and immediately, the crew got back to their duties as peacekeepers. Smith resumed his post of military overseer. Afterwards in the mess, the crew celebrated their result though without alcohol.

Trianna Valdez (yellow) was escorted from her cell to sickbay. After finding out her mother's wound was mortal, Trianna gave permission to turn off life support after saying her goodbyes. She was then escorted to the Empress after watching Tamiko put the sheet over her mother's face. In the throne room, she was marched in flanked by guards on both sides and INN. "Citizen Trianna Valdez step forward" ordered Heath. Trianna stepped forward and Heath signaled a guard to remove Trianna's restraints. "In light of you and your family's crimes, normally you'd be executed but in light of your mother's sacrifice in saving my life, your crimes have been stricken from the record and you are pardoned. I understand your counterpart's family have agreed to take you in as a Federation citizen where they can watch over you and rehabilitate you in the event of something happening to your mother, or you can go your own way" said Heath.

"Thank you, I need time to process all this. When I was in the Federation, I actually spoke to my counterpart. The one I bullied and teased when she was a hostage, she forgave me as did her father" answered Trianna. "Forgiveness is a powerful tool. You need time to mourn, you have my condolences for your loss" replied Heath. "I claim right of Vengeance on Prisoner Wallace, let me kill him" asked Trianna. "He will be tried in a court of law, revenge is not the answer" answered Heath. "Yes majesty" answered Trianna. "You're angry and bitter, you will speak to a counselor. That's not a request, that's an order" said Heath. "Yes majesty" answered Trianna. "Until I can work out how best to utilize your talents, you are confined to this ship under guard for your own protection, some within the empire would want you dead for your father's treason. The sins of the father shall not be passed down to his daughter" replied Heath.

                        "Understood" answered Trianna.

Trianna Valdez (Yellow) under advisement from Heath had made her decision, she chose to accept her counterpart's offer and live in peace. After contacting Nathan Valdez via secure subspace, Trianna told Valdez what had happened. "Sorry to hear about Teanna, you have our condolences" said Valdez. "Thank you dad, oops" replied Trianna much to Valdez's amusement. "Not the first time it's happened" he joked afterwards in an attempt to cheer her up. It caused a smile on her face, "I'm accepting your offer, I want peace" said Trianna. "Then you will have it, let us know when you're ready" answered Valdez. "I'm good to go" replied Trianna. "I made a promise to your mother to be your guardian, also, this came through for you. It's a presidential pardon and certificate of Federation citizenship, all it needs is for you sign it" answered Valdez.

"I'll sign it today, revenge is not worth jeopardizing it" replied Trianna. "True" answered Valdez. "How am I going to get over?" asked Trianna. "That's covered" answered Valdez. "I'll see you on Earth dad" replied Trianna before Valdez smiled and started making the arrangements. Once Heath had finished up all the arrangements on her side, Trianna beamed off Los Lobos using a transdimensional transporter. On Earth, she was met by Valdez who helped her with the paperwork. When she signed, she smiled before drifting back in grief knowing what it had cost. Valdez had a surprise, when they got to the Valdez residence, Trianna (yellow) was met by a welcome home from Trianna (prime) and Ablim. "Why is there a bread obsessed talking toaster?" asked Trianna (Yellow). "I was bored one day so I modified it" answered Trianna (prime). "After it had a burial at sea" added Ablim. "It was first degree toastercide" interrupted the device on the work surface, Trianna (yellow) just smiled. She was home, now she had to find herself.

After being accepted into the family, she was introduced to the youngest member of the family. "Meet Teanna Jane, your niece" said Trianna (Prime). "She's adorable" answered Trianna (yellow) with a smile. "Just watch out for hair pulling, it hurts" advised Trianna (prime). "Thanks for the warning, this feels strange. My dad was all about military discipline as early as possible yet here it's different" replied Trianna (yellow). "You grew up too fast that's why" answered Trianna (prime). "You may be right on that, I've got 20 years of issues I need to sort out" replied Trianna (yellow). "That's why once a week, a counselor will be here to help you. If you need help with being a civilian, just ask" said Valdez. "Even dad is different, my dad would have called that weakness" said Trianna (yellow). "Well first thing you need to do is take some time out to grieve, dad's been there and so have I so don't repress those feelings and ask for help if things get tough" advised Trianna (prime). "Thanks sis" replied Trianna (yellow) as she she went down to her counterpart's level and gave a gentle hug. "The Valdez twins, that has a nice vibe" answered Trianna (prime) holding her stomach. "How long?" asked Trianna (yellow). "Five more months, he's already got a telepathic bond with his mother" answered Trianna (prime). "What's he thinking?" asked Ablim. "I'm comfortable, don't disturb me" answered Trianna (prime). It caused a sea of smiles in the room.

At a private ceremony, Trianna (yellow) put her mother to rest by cremation after lighting the funeral pyre herself with the support of her adopted family. Afterwards, she just broke down in tears as it had hit her hard. "It's OK to let it all out, don't repress it" advised Valdez as he gave her a shoulder to cry on. "You're not like my dad" said Trianna (yellow) afterwards. "I know, did you get on with your dad?" asked Valdez. "No, he was liberal with the booth on punishments. It got to the point I lashed out and nearly killed him in anger" answered Trianna (yellow). "Not the best way" answered Valdez. "Things improved somewhat but the damage had already been done" replied Trianna (yellow). "You've got 20 years of militarization and repression to overcome, that won't be easy by any means but you're not alone" advised Valdez.

"Thanks dad, my dad would tell me to deal with it on my own. His philosophy was asking for help was weakness" replied Trianna (yellow). "More harmful than helpful" answered Valdez. "Indeed, let's go home" said Trianna (yellow). The Valdez family returned home to their Normandy farm. For the rest of the day Trianna (yellow) just sat in a field next to the house contemplating her messed up upbringing and what to do with her freedom.

The Brigands were on duty in their day jobs as military administration. Dexter Smith was discussing ways of improving military and civil co-operation with Papela while Ghost was dealing with Hades along with Shade. "Jason Roy, you have been sentenced to death. Until your sentence is passed, you will be interrogated everyday. Escape is impossible" said Shade making sure there was nothing on Hades. "Ghost, would be a shame if anything was to happen to you while you're pregnant" said Hades trying to provoke Trianna (Red). "Permission to hurt him?" asked Ghost. "As long as you don't hurt him too badly, he must look uninjured when he's executed" answered Shade.

"Fair enough" said Ghost right before she kneed Hades in the groin which was followed by a right hook to the face. "I feel a lot better now" said Ghost afterwards. Meanwhile Isoisa and Naynta were questioning Captain Wallace, "those medals look shiny" said Isoisa. "I was awarded them, POW regulations say you cannot strip someone of their medals" answered Wallace. Isosia was not phased by that as she tore off Wallace's medals before melting them down in front of him, "what medals?" joked Isoisa. "You are not a POW, you are our plaything" said Naynta. "We'll leave you with the picture of your wife and children so you know that you betrayed them too. What would your two little sons think when they hear the truth of your crimes or even worse your wife?" asked Isoisa.

"That would tear my family apart" answered Wallace trying to beg for his life. "He's scared, let's have some fun" said Naynta to her sister in law. "Where do we begin?" asked Isoisa. "You choose" answered Naynta.

"See you next poker night. Wyvern out."
" D`Jetta, were you listening in to our conversation?"
"In case he ever manages to talk you into it, I feel it's job to step in and stop you."
"We'll talk later. Put the hail through."
Ford found himself talking with one of the Federation's counselors.
                              "Hello ma'am. This is unexpected."
"We find ourselves in unexpected times," the Tellerite counselor replied. "I'll get to the point. This assassination scandal has shaken the faith of the people of the Federation in their leaders."
                              "I understand that completely."
"We need to find new leadership. Individuals that inspire trust, and your name keeps coming up."
                              "I don't follow."
"Captain Ford, we want you to run for president."
To his credit Ford did not start laughing.
"And brings you to the conclusion that I would A; want to be president. And B; you think I want to President. I don't have any political ambitions."
"That makes you the perfect choice. Are you familiar with the Klingon saying 'Great men don't seek power, they have it thrust upon them'?"
                              "I still don't see..."
"You are a decorated officer, respected by all, and they say it was your speech that convinced the fleet to stand down. You can sway them to support you in your endeavors."
Ford kept his face impassive, but that statement ticked something in the back of his head.
"I see. Do you actually think I have a chance?"
"Your record is impeccable. Except..." The Tellerite looked distinctly uncomfortable.
                              "Except for..."
"Your 'notorious' past history with members of the opposite sex. It might think that you would just be traveling around looking for your next... liaison so to speak."
"I have no regrets. So how would you say that we fix this?"
"The best way is for you to... settle down."
"You are approaching deal breaker territory."
"Please hear me out. You don't actually have to marry this person. Just appear to be in a stable relationship. We have chosen Someone we feel would be the best match both politically and personally."
                              "Have you?"
"Yes, we will send their information to you. We'll leave it to you to broach the subject with them."
"I haven't said yes yet... Give me some time to think."
"I understand. But time is a factor."
"You'll have my answer by tomorrow."
"Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you."
The screen went blank. He touched a button.
" D`Jetta, I know you were listening. Come in here."
                              The female Andorian came in.
                              "What do you think D`Jetta?"
"Politicians are good for only one thing, reactor shielding."
"Normally, I agree. But the way she phrased certain things..."
                              "Smells of another conspiracy."
                              "Yes it does."
"Before you decide," she handed him a PADD. "This is who they want you to 'marry'. The one female, besides me, that you haven't tried to get in bed."
"They have got to be kidding. Why would they even... Did they really think that some cheap digital altering of the picture would make her more appealing?"
"They do seem to know your type."
"That aside... I may have to do it just to find out what is going on."
                              "One question."
                              "Yes?"
                              "Can I be a bridesmaid?"
"Out! And contact the Los Lobos."
A minute a new face appeared on his screen.
                              "Hey Layress."
                              "Michael, what's up?"
                              "Need your help/advice on something."
                              "Fire away.
"Two things actually. Would you believe that a group wants me to run for president?"
"You are basically the poster boy for Starfleet."
"Maybe, but it doesn't feel right."
                              "How so?"
"The wording of the offer. How I was popular with the fleet and could sway them."
"You think they just want to use you as a figure head?"
                              "That was my thinking."
"So what are you going to do?"
"I'm thinking of taking their offer just to keep an eye on them."
"Spy work. That's a new one for you. So what do you need from me?"
"Before I get to that, answer a question for me."
                              "Sure."
"Why have you changed your camera settings?"
                              "What?"
"A few months ago you changed your camera settings so it only shows your face. Plus there's this new nickname I've heard associated with you..."
                              She sighed heavily.
                              "Fine."
The camera zoomed back out to it's normal ratio.
                              Admiral Implants indeed, he thought.
                              "I see. How..."
"That mirror witch, the one married to the other me did this to me. She tricked me."
"So why did the holo-you during the conference have your old image?"
"I wanted them to actually listen to what I was saying."
                              "I can understand that."
                              "Michael..."
                              "Yes?"
                              "Stop staring at them."
                              "I'm not sure I can."
The screen went blank except for the words "audio only".
"What else do you want Michael?"
"What... Right. They said I should have no problem winning except for my... extensive history with members of the fair gender."
"You mean the trail of women you've left in your wake across the quadrant? If all of them voted for you you'd be guaranteed to win."
"Yes, well they think it would be for the best if I gave the impression of settling down with just one."
                              "Really? Who's this unlucky girl?"
                              "Actually, they suggested you."
                              The screen came back on.
                              "WHAT?"
"Your involvement in the defense of the mirror universe was seen as very popular. Plus your 'unique' relationship with the Empress, especially after this scandal, would be a bonus."
                              "Michael..."
"Plus, I need someone I can trust beside me. Your crew and it's talents would be helpful in the investigation. You're more use to doing things 'below board' as it was than I am. I need a devious mind to spot things I might miss."
                              "..."
                              "Well?"
                              She pointed at her chest.
"You touch them, I break your arm."
                              "Challenge accepted."
"I mean it Michael, I'll cripple you."
"What an interesting marriage this will be. I can only imagine what the honeymoon will be like."
"IT'LL END WITH YOUR HEADLESS BODY BEING THROWN OUT OF..."
He hit mute as she continued to rant.
Various factions are trying to shift power to suit their own needs, he thought. Time to set the Federation back on the right track.

"What's democracy?" asked Trianna (yellow) to Valdez. "The Federation is different to the empire in one respect, here the people have a say in how we're governed" answered Valdez. "Ah, where as in the empire, people don't have say in how they are governed. I've never had the vote before" replied Trianna (yellow). "Well good news is, now you're a Federation citizen you are legally allowed to vote. Use that vote wisely on the candidate you believe is right for the job" answered Valdez. "All these new experiences, it's interesting" replied Trianna (yellow). "These are interesting times, how are you on finding your own identity?" asked Valdez.

"Finally picked out a name to avoid confusion, I shortening my name to Anna Marie Valdez" answered Trianna (yellow). "Anna Marie is it then, you've now got to find yourself" replied Valdez as there was a knock on the door. It was Trianna''s friends from the Los Lobos, "Tri, how's retirement?" asked Naynta. "Relatively peaceful" answered Trianna (prime) which was followed by an "OW!! That hurt" as Teanna Jane pulled at her hair. "Joys of parenthood, that's what mother says about that" said Naynta. "Congratulations on the pregnancy" said Tamiko. "Boy or girl?" asked Paris. "Boy" answered Trianna. It was followed by a "SQUEE!!!" from Naynta, Paris and Tamiko. "Someone needs to weaponize that, it'll drive the enemy insane" joked Valdez. "He he, something more terrifying than the booth" joked Trianna (yellow).

"Tri, why's there another you?" asked Paris. "My counterpart/twin sister was pardoned by the empress and given a fresh start in peace, we offered her the fresh start and membership of this family so please treat her with respect" answered Trianna (prime). "That's cool" replied Paris. There was another knock at the door, it was Admiral Heath but she was out of uniform so rank did not apply. "LayRess" said Valdez looking Heath in the face keeping eyes up after shaking her hand. "Nathan, not seen you since the war. How's Trianna doing?" asked Heath. "Ma'am, pregnant with about 5 months to go, a boy on the way. Teanna who's that?" said Trianna as Teanna Jane recognized Heath. "Congratulations Trianna" said Heath. "Thanks, Ablim is twitching at the moment, when he found out he fainted" answered Trianna. "OK, why is there two of you?" asked Heath. "I recently lost everything, I was pardoned by the empress and this family have given me a fresh start in peace. I did much harm to them but they forgave me and accepted me" answered Trianna (yellow).

"I've become her legal guardian, I made a promise to her mother to look after her in the event of something happening to her mother" said Valdez. "Dad's been my tutor in being a Federation citizen, this is something new" said Trianna (yellow). "She's doing alright, a bit unsure but getting there" said Valdez. "Small steps at first, I have to see a counselor twice a week" answered Trianna (yellow). "Anna, go help your sister, I need to speak to Layress in private" said Valdez. "Yes dad" answered Trianna (yellow). In Valdez's study, he got to business, "this scandal has left a stain that is proving difficult to remove, that fact that people are calling for impeachments means something has gone wrong." "The fact I saw an angry mob of citizens and Starfleet being led by Trianna to the Federation council got the point across, I do agree with what she has said about the matter. We need a positive change at the top because this cannot happen again" said Heath. "Agreed, I do keep up with what's going on and the other Alliance governments have decided that the Alliance can survive this scandal. The Federation needs to find it's way" replied Valdez. "Agreed, I'm surprised you've not decided to stand for president" answered Heath. "My family always comes first, that's why" replied Valdez.

Nathan Valdez was sat in his armchair reading the newspaper over a cup of tea when Trianna (yellow) came in to ask for help. "I know that look all too well, what's happened?" asked Valdez putting the PADD down. "My temper, I need some advise on how to deal with it. Normally I would take it out on the nearest person but that's unacceptable here" answered Trianna (yellow). "Anna, it's better to ask for help instead of hiding it, so here's what I've got in mind. In the barn there is a punching bag, I used to box at the academy when I was younger" replied Valdez. "I'm more of a kick-boxer myself dad, I want to get back into practice again" answered Trianna (yellow). "That will help focus your mind and vent all that anger, we all get angry at times but it's how we control that emotion that defines us" advised Valdez.

"How does my sister deal with that temper?" asked Trianna (yellow). "She has a quiet space where she can go to for meditation" answered Valdez. The peace was interrupted by the Federation News, "Breaking story, in wake of the assassination scandal police have made several arrests here on Earth. In Paris, protesters are marching on the Council building in a peaceful protest. Their demands are that all candidates should be checked for any involvement in Section 31 and other illegal organisations before they are allowed to stand. Captain Micheal Ford has just entered himself into the running for president at these snap elections. We'll have more on this story as it develops" said the news anchor. "Good man but a bit of a Jim Kirk when it comes to the opposite sex" said Valdez. "A Jim Kirk?" asked Trianna (yellow). "Jim Kirk was a notorious womanizer" answered Valdez. "Ah" answered Trianna (yellow).

"As an officer though he's very good at what he does, his sense of right and wrong cannot be faulted" replied Valdez. "In the empire there are no such things as elections, change only occurs through assassination, coup or inheritance. This democracy is something alien to me" answered Trianna (yellow). "In 2372, rogue elements in Starfleet tried to stage a coup citing the threat posed by changelings. That coup was stopped by loyal officers who believe in what the Federation stood for, coups are unacceptable because they deny the ordinary citizen the right to decide how they are governed" replied Valdez. "Why don't you stand dad?" asked Trianna (yellow). "I hate politics, all I want is to live in peace and care for my family" answered Valdez. "My dad could not stand politics,he was a military man" replied Trianna (yellow). "I fought him and lost, that net he cast was perfect. Looking back at it, there was no way out of it" answered Valdez. "He was a monster at times but could show some kindness but only when it suited him" replied Trianna (yellow).

"So why did he spare your sister?" asked Valdez. "Because she was more valuable alive as a hostage, if you tried to escape he would have killed her just to hurt you" answered Trianna (yellow). "I cannot show any respect for him, did you know he fired biogenic weapons at random planets as well as infecting Federation POWs with a pathogen and putting them on a ship loaded with protomatter weapons in a sick game to make the Federation choose who to save?" asked Valdez. "Maybe I should not have missed his heart then" answered Trianna (yellow). "Then you would have been killed on the spot, it's not worth it" replied Valdez. "Revenge is not worth the cost afterwards, a lesson both of us have learnt" answered Trianna (yellow). "The price is often too painful" replied Valdez. "Thank you for honoring my mother by taking me in out of pure kindness, I've got the counselor coming round in half an hour so I'd better get ready" answered Trianna (yellow). "Go on kiddo, just be open and be honest. Counselor Riker is very understanding so help her to understand you and you'll make progress" replied Valdez. "Thanks dad" said Trianna (yellow) before she gave her adopted father a hug and left the room.

"Your puppet self is now in place in the palace," Thay reported. "Nobody is the wiser that it's not really you."
                                  "Good."
"She knows what will happen if she goes of script again."
                                  "Good."
"She is also writing daily reports so that you will know what is happening there so when we switch you back in you'll be up to date."
                                  "Good."
"Are you going to say anything other than good?"
"That would take time away from eating. Pregnant woman hungry."
The two were seated in the Empress's private room in the middle of lunch as Thay gave her a status update.
"I know you're eating for three, but I've seen Klingons with more restraint."
"Your lucky I'm not just shoving it my mouth with my hands."
"Your only a step away from that."
"Then tell your daughters to stop being so demanding."
"Much like their mother, I doubt they'll listen to me."
"I do to listen to you. I just ignore somethings you say."
"Well I think you'll want to listen to this. Thanks to that assassination plot, they're having emergency elections in the Federation."
                                  "As it should be."
"I think you know one of the candidates, a Captain Ford."
                                  Layress stopped eating.
"Michael? He's not the political type. Actually he has an active distrust of them."
"Well many of them think he has a good chance. What's he like?"
                                  Layress smiled.
"If you ever want to see what a walking Federation recruitment poster is like, just look at him. Very hands on, in more than one way, dedicated, people like and listen to him."
                                  "When you said hands on..."
"He puts you and the fleet combined to shame with his bedroom antics."
"Looking at him I can see why. Was that including you?"
"Prophets no! He was just a friend."
"I love you Lazy, but sometimes I think your insane. At least the other you has better sense."
                                  "What do you mean?"
Thay began reading from her PADD.
"'Newly announced Presidential candidate Captain Michael Ford is seen here with his fiancee Admiral Heath Layress'."
                                  "WHAT?"
"'They had kept their long term engagement a secret out of fear of improprieties with her being his superior. Although their relationship had begun before her promotion...'"
                                  "GIVE ME THAT!"
Layress took the PADD from her and read through it.
"If she's had a long term relationship with him to the point of engagement, them you two must have been dating when I brought you here."
"Lies! All lies! We never were...oh. I get it."
                                  "What?"
"It's a cover story to play down his past."
"So he looks more respectable... Interesting."
We can use this, Thay thought to herself.
"Tell me this election, would it help or hurt him if we came out in support of him?"
                                  "What are you planning Thay?"
"You know him, fairly well I'd say. I'd rather deal with a known predictable quantity in their leadership."
"True. But we should stay out of their affairs if we want them to stay out of ours."
And if need be, swap his version of you with one of my own to control him, Thay thought. Yes this has possibilities.

                                  Earth (Prime)

At the Valdez family farm, it was life as normal. Nathan Valdez was tending his flowerbeds while Trianna (prime) was feeding Teanna Jane along with Ablim. "Trouble at the front?" asked Trianna (yellow) when she came in from kick-boxing practice. "You could say that but we're used to it" answered Ablim just as he got pelted with baby food. "Naughty girl" said Trianna (prime) keeping her cool. "This was a nice shirt as well, oh well it's had worse on it" replied Ablim. "You need a hand sis?" asked Trianna (yellow). "It's OK, I think Teanna here is tired" answered Trianna (prime) picking up Teanna Jane and rubbing her back, it was followed by a "lovely, this stain will be hard to remove" as Teanna Jane left a surprise down Trianna's (prime) shoulder. After cleaning Teanna Jane up, Ablim put her into her cot for her nap and changed shirt before bring out a fresh over-shirt for Trianna (prime).

"Have you heard the news?" asked Trianna (yellow). "Poor Captain Ford, Layress won't tolerate his womanizing" answered Trianna (prime). "The she-wolf of Bajor, she's Alpha and she knows it. This could be quite amusing" replied Trianna (yellow). "Not for Captain Ford" added Ablim laughing as he assisted Trianna (prime) in changing her over-shirt. "Where's dad?" asked Trianna (yellow). "Tending to his pet project out in the garden" answered Trianna (prime). "Thanks, I got something to tell you all, if I told my dad this, he would have had me boothed" replied Trianna (yellow). "Anna, how was practice?" asked Valdez as he came in from the garden after removing his boots and changing into his house shoes. "Been working on my roundhouses, now that you are all here, I've got something to tell you all" answered Trianna (yellow). "We're listening so take your time" said Valdez. "Thanks, there are things I'm coming to terms with. My dad would have called them impure and unnatural, I'm interested in women only" said Trianna (yellow).

"Takes a lot to come out, you've got our support" replied Trianna (prime). "What would your dad have done if he had found out?" asked Valdez. "Had me locked away in an asylum for impure tendencies" answered Trianna (yellow). "That's bang out of order, how could a father do that to his own daughter?" asked Ablim. "My dad was a Grade A..." replied Trianna (yellow) before Valdez politely asked her not to finish the sentence. "Anna, there is nothing wrong with you. Your father was not very tolerant by the sounds of it, people have to accept you for who you are as a person because yes there is intolerance in the universe but not here" advised Valdez. "I was frightened because I had to hide it but now it's out in the open, it's a relief" replied Trianna (yellow). "Family always supports each other" said Trianna (prime). "Thanks" answered Trianna (yellow). "Dad, Admiral Heath is engaged to Captain Ford" said Trianna (prime). "The poor soul, Layress has a somewhat dominant personality and he cannot get away with his womanizing anymore" joked Valdez. "Can we send them the talking toaster as a wedding present?" asked Trianna (yellow).

"Did anyone want toast?" interrupted the machine. "We do not want muffins, bagels or tea cakes" said Valdez trying not to laugh. "I'm a toaster, it's what I'm programmed for, to deliver freshly toasted bread for your enjoyment" answered back the machine. "Just no" answered Valdez back. "Ah so you're a waffle man" answered the machine back. Everyone just face palmed and then laughed. "Send it to the happy couple" said Ablim. "The toaster is singing" said Trianna (yellow) who was laughing to the point of tears. Valdez then unplugged the machine and packed it into a box before sending it to the U.S.S. Los Lobos as a wedding present.

                                    U.S.S. Enteri'Is

For Emma, waking up in her own universe was still something she enjoyed. After spending so long in enemy territory something so simple as waking up on her own ship, in her own room was still welcome surprise. Like waking up from a endless nightmare, or slipping into a dream. She wondered how at times that she'd returned such a short time after she'd left. Command had had her keep control of her ship, especially given the intelligence network she'd set up in the Empire.

Now however she was sitting with her senior staff in the briefing room, each looking tired and unsureof their next course of action. "This is unacceptable." Emma stated fuming at current events. "And they knew it."

"Who, specifically?" Basakisk asked unsure to what part of the issue she was referring to.

"All of it! First elements of the Federation itself nearly start a war when we already have the Tenkethi to deal with, not to mention our dangerous relationship with the Terrans. We've got Imperial ships violating the boarder- announcing themselves doesn't really make it right. Further more their Empress - had to have known this would cause uproar, The Federation is currently vulnerable- the people have lost faith in their government, our leaders are now under scrutiny. Demanding Section 31 be destroyed, well we all know that's not going to happen! THe appearance of being dismantled, surely- but after all this conflict? No, since the Dominion war Starfleet has been not only explorers, but the Federations protectors. Section 31 might be unpleasant, but they're even more essential given our seemingly endless supply of enemies. You all know I don't like dealing with Drake, but we have our orders."

                                    "Shade?"

"As of now we are off the record. I have been provided with a list of vessebls we are permitted to contact, but under no circumstances are we to disengage stealth systems until given the all clear."

Three days later the phantom class escort pulled up alongside a rouge comet. And Shade opened coms from her office, transferring control of the transporters to her console.

"This is phantom one hailing Revenant Two: Operation ID code Vector, Six, four Beta, smiles."

She waited a moment before getting the response. "Revenant Two here, ID code: Alpha Five nine Gamma fear, awaiting the package now."

"We're concerned about the Klingons getting wind of the tribbles but we've had no trouble." Roy said in code. "We will be keeping to our route good luck Revenant"

Emma then transported the crate of {REDACTED} to the Eclispse class USS Phantanis. Both ships then left the area.
                                    (Mirror Universe) Terra, Paris

"You know Ghost one typically doesn't retire from the Shadows." Emma said as she led the way through the catacombs. "We both know you know how to keep secrets so I'll trust this will stay hidden."

"Of course." Trianna awnsered, honestly having gotten lost in the labyrinth of skulls and bones some time ago wondering if any other response would have resulted in her being abandonded and forgotten in the maze of the dead.

Emma continued taking twists and turns along the trained route until the pair came upon a dead end. Emma began running her gloved palm over the grinning skulls before pressing in on one. The wall rumbled and moved away from them slowly receding into a large room.

Proceeding inside and moving around the hidden door as it closed shut behind them, Shade moved o the other side of the reinforced room and began opening the Nutronium blast doors. Hand print, vocal authorization, an eye scanner and finally a Blood test.

"Little extrem don't you think?" Ghost said as the two stepped into final scanning chamber.

"Perhaps but it has it's reasons, the catacombs are a tourist site. Though I'm sure you realize why only guided tours are allowed.... People have gotten lost and died looking for treasure believe it or not."

Now inside the Shadow base they proceeded through the area, Ghost taking note of various labs, training rooms, recreation areas, and an extensive control center.

"Home sweet home.... THough I imagine Jason doesn't feel that way. YOu want to help interrogate him I'll allow it, but I still need to know what he did with my missing crew, so if anything don't let him die until he gives us that. Why did you want to be the one to kill him again? I should do it myself but we'll see how this goes."

"What do you mean 'nothing'?" Victoria asked Zalnos unsure if she heard correctly.

"Regarding the Empress and Sito, I intend to do nothing to change that." He awnsered.

"Why?!" Rishis couldn't believe her own ears.

"Don't even ask. Should you try and change that Leata will be made aware of our current plans and I know you don't want her to interfere because she'll tip off the Federation."

The USS Phantanis approached the Deferi freighter and contacted the captain as planned for the current eventuality.

"You know the destination, we'll be following under cloak the whole way in case of Breen attack." Said captain Paterlarg.
Why do I still play and put money into STO?

"Hello and welcome to the INN morning report. The Empress has announced that there is to be a complete review of all those that were declared deranged and sent to asylums under her predecessors. Information has come to light that the former Emperor Valdez sent those who's lifestyle he didn't approve of to be 'cured' by means of torture. She offered her most sincere apologies for not addressing the matter sooner. 'I thought that such actions like these would have been erased as he was. Obviously the fact that we still remember him shows that the shadow of his legacy still exists. We shall conduct a full and through accounting of all his actions and try to undo the damage and heal the scars he has left behind.' The Empress commented that the fact that her own marriage would have been condemned by him makes dismantling his legacy all the more satisfying. INN continues after the break."

Nathan Valdez was teaching Trianna (yellow) ethics using historical events as examples. "The old regime would have called that efficient, over here that would never happen but humans were much like Terrans today back then" said Trianna (yellow). "Took us a few hundred years to get past all that and work together instead of against each other. My people are not exactly angels by any means" answered Valdez. "Caught this on the news, INN just released details of my father's crimes. Good, I asked the empress to make sure it went public" replied Trianna (yellow). "Sometimes progress is slow, this proves there's hope for the empire" answered Valdez. "Someday but not immediately" countered Trianna (yellow).

                                    Paris, Terra (MU red)

Trianna was in the lab working on a new type of chip. "One of your creations Ghost?" asked Shade. "Indeed, a design me and my sister created for interrogation, meet the agony chip" answered Trianna (red). "Looks like a nasty little critter" replied Shade smirking. "Early models were tested on Section 31 operatives, they proved very effective. This design is built for more resistant types" answered Trianna (red). "This is not good for Jason" replied Shade. "No one threatens me like that and live to tell the tale, normally it would not bother me but these days I have to be careful. Let's just he became a loose end that needed dealing with" answered Trianna (red). "Time to find my crew, be creative" replied Shade. In the cells, Trianna installed her new toy and conducted the questioning from a room above. "Where's the rest of the crew?" asked Trianna (red). "You can't break me" said Jason laughing.

"Well laugh at this" said Trianna (red) as she activated the chip. She eventually got the location, it was at Galordan Core. "Those chips are very good, very nice creations" said Shade smirking. Now Trianna (red) just smiled, "He's all yours" she said afterwards.

                                    Betazed (MU red)

The Brigands had been reassigned to Terra, since Trianna's (red) "retirement", things had been too quiet. The crew of the Warrior had just handed power from their temporary government to a permanent government led by Papela. On Betazed, the crew and the MACO complement all marched down streets with people lining them, they were cheering and clapping yelling "Long live the empire." "Why does it feel good after doing something for the people?" asked Dexter. "Maybe because you are a good man at heart" answered Mereu smiling. "What a journey it's been, besides we find ways to keep busy at Terra. Back to internal security duties" said Dexter. "Isoisa, you look happy" said Mereu. "I am, at least she's safe" replied Isoisa. "Let's see what the future holds" answered Dexter.

Aboard Warrior, Dexter set course for Terra. "I'll miss Betazed" said Dexter.

"Personal log... I still wonder if I should start these Empress's personal log... that does seem rather egotistical... nevermind. Anyway today marks six months since the big promotion and I thought the paperwork running a starship was a lot. Keeping Two empires running smoothly is the stuff of nightmares, but I enjoy the challenge. So nice to have to solve problems by thinking instead of blowing them up. Of course there's some of that as well. Someone attacks a colony or transport, you ask them to stop. Then send them a request to stop written on the casings of several hundred torpedoes and peace returns.
I do wish I could go out and actually meet all these people I'm taking care of, but it's still not safe. Some still harbor resentment over the 'fed girl' running the Empire. Not over here in the yellow universe though, they're actually very accepting of me. It's a odd feeling to see little girls saying that they want to grow up to be like me... Oh Prophets, I'm crying again. Stupid hormones. *Sigh* Two more months. Just two more months and then these two will be here. I think I'm both looking forward to it and terrified beyond belief. Looking forward to it because I can't get out of chairs easily anymore. That couch is a pregnant woman trap. I can't get off of it anymore without rolling on to the floor first. Thay, sadistic witch, finds it hilarious. I'd spank her if I could catch her. I tell her it took me being seven months pregnant for her to be able to out run me.
Speaking of running, have to find a different excrsize routine now. I can't run on my treadmill anymore. Stomach bouncing is too uncomfortable. *yawns* I didn't know building small people inside of you would make you so tired. Time for another nap before I sign those exploration agreements with the Voth and Dominion...ouch... My hair got caught on the desk drawer... Maybe I should give in and finally cut it. It is ridiculously long now. It would make Thay happy... But I like it like this... I don't know. Maybe when they're born I'll do it... Short hair would be easier to manage with two little ones... I'll sleep on it. End log."

"Tell them that as the commanding officer of a covert multi-factional task force I do not have time to give interviews."
"I see. Well there is one request here I think you should take."
                                      "Why is that?"
                                      "Have a look."
"What... Prophets above, no. Not now."
"It wouldn't look good for Captain Ford for you to be seen..."
                                      Heath ground her teeth together.
                                      "Fine. Put it through."
She took a deep breath and put on her best fake smile as the screen on her desk lit up.
"Why am I hearing about you getting married from the news and not from you?"
                                      "Hello Mom, how are you..."
                                      "Don't change the subject."
"*Sigh* We had to keep it a secret."
                                      "Even from your own mother?"
"Mom, if I told you five minutes later the entire province would know. You have been after me for years to get married. You couldn't have kept it to yourself."
"Perhaps but why didn't you tell me yourself?"
"I didn't even tell my crew myself."
"That's true," R'shee chimed in. "But in her defense we have been rather busy."
"Alright. I'll accept that. So when are you bringing him home so your father and I can meet him?"
                                      "We'll try to schedule..."
                                      "Two weeks from today."
                                      "What?"
"You want it to get out you're a neglectful daughter do you?"
                                      "Two weeks."
"Wonderful. Your grandmother will make some of her special hasperath."
"Great... Wait, NO! He's human! It'll kill him!"
"If he can't handle a little hasperath, he can't handle our daughter. See you soon."
                                      The screen went blank.
"She explains so much about you."
                                      Heath sat pinching her nose.
"Contact the Constellation. Tell him we need to be at Bajor in two weeks and have Naynta have her anti-hasperath treatment on standby for him, maximum strength. He's going to need it."

"This is INN, in light of the recent revelations about Former Emperor Valdez, inquiries have discovered more crimes. Two witnesses have decided to reveal all here on INN" said the news anchor. Immediately, two Triannas appeared on the monitors. They decided that the people of the Empire needed to know. From her fortified home on Okinawa, Trianna (red) told the Empire some home truths about her father, it caught everyone's attention. From Earth, Trianna (yellow) was brutally honest about her hers before explaining "I'm from the other Empire" which was finished off by Trianna (red) with a "and I'm from this empire." "Our fathers were nothing more than intolerant genocidal warlords who only allowed species to live if they allowed it," said Trianna (yellow). "We cannot take back all the victims of our father, we know that but we as their daughters formally say sorry for all the pain and hurt caused by our fathers" said Trianna (red). "Let's burn his legacy," finished Trianna (yellow).

Afterwards, Trianna (yellow) was smiling. "That felt good to get that off my chest" she said afterwards. "You don't hold back" answered Valdez, Trianna (yellow) just smiled.

The Warrior got into orbit of the planet and commenced scans, after compensating for the atmospheric storms the found the Shadow crew. After working out a rescue plan, they modified an Argos for stormy conditions. After launching Argos they wacted as the path marker to get the shuttle back. After the Argos retrieved the final crew, they were back aboard Warrior. The Shadow crew though tired, hungry and thirsty were in high spirits after being rescued. The Warrior also found an old Imperial base that was supposed to be shut down. After boarding the base and downloading the database, they discovered what the Former Emperor was designing. It was plans for a Virus weapon, the plans were downloaded, the computer then wiped and the base destroyed. They were back at Terra and sent a very secure signal to Shade, "We've got them and they are all alive."

Aboard the Warrior, the mood was good. Shade beamed and was met by Smith in his ready room. After making sure no one could listen in, she was straight to business, "Corsair, a job well done. Is that all my crew?" asked Shade. "They're all accounted for, they're just happy to be alive" answered Smith. "How many injured?" asked Shade. "Doctor Smith has the tally at 70 walking wounded and 20 critical, the rest are not even shaken up by the ordeal. The fact they get on our crew without any friction is a plus at the moment" answered Smith. "What saved them?" asked Shade. "An old Imperial base coming back online and found a place I never want to see again. We found these" answered Smith.

"This weapon must never exist, you understand me?" asked Shade. "Clearly, we don't know how many more of these bases there are. If these bases are allowed to exist we could have a problem. In the wrong hands, this is dangerous" answered Smith. "This one looks nasty, a nanoprobe orbital bombardment" replied Shade. "Where was getting the nanoprobes from?" asked Smith. "This is not good, the empress needs to see these plans. These indicate a base at the Vorn system" replied Shade. "Vorn is a system we tended to avoid, we've heard stories of ships going in and not coming back. One ship only just made it out and all we could hear via subspace was "Resistance is Futile", we don't know what happened to their crews but we heard screaming and panicking as they were overrun" answered Smith.

"The same signal was heard on Imperial ships out on the frontiers, four have already disappeared this month already, all in remote sectors" replied Shade. "I had a narrow escape once on a smuggling run, lucky we put bio dampeners on and completely powered down with all of us wearing EV suits. The fact we were hidden among a debris field playing dead saved us, it's design was odd in the respect of it was geometrically perfect. That was the scariest 12 hours of our lives" answered Smith. "What shape?" asked Shade. "A cube" answered Smith. "If they are aware of the Empire's existence, we have problems" said Shade. "I know exactly who they are, they're called the Borg. Out on the frontier, there are legends about them. Things like colonies being scooped out of the ground all the way down to random encounters like ours" answered Smith. "It's time you made the empress aware, do you still have logs of that encounter?" asked Shade. "I do, I never realized this could be important" answered Smith as he downloaded the logs ready for his meeting with the Empress.

"Now that's business over, thank you for saving my crew" said Shade. "My team deserves the credit" answered Smith. "Very modest" replied Shade.

"Lazy, are you ready? We have our lunch date. The food will be here soon."
"Thay, can you come in here please?"
She entered the bedroom and found Layress sitting at her dresser looking in the mirror.
                                          "What's wrong?"
                                          "Do you love me?"
"What kind of question is that? Of course I do."
"Do you love me enough to stop me from doing something even though it's something you want?"
                                          "What are you talking about?"
Layress held up a pair of scissors.
"Talk me out of cutting my hair."
                                          "What?"
"I mean look at it. It's ridiculously long. Sitting here its piling up on the floor around me. And with the twins coming, it'll just get in the way. I should be practical and cut it off."
                                          She smiled sadly.
"But I really like it like this. I really do. But these Stupid hormones... I'm tempted to chop it all off... So, please. Talk me out of it."
She handed Thay the scissors. Thay looked at her in the chair, hair around her like a cape.
I could snip it all off right now, She thought. And she'd let me... what's stronger? My wanting to make her happy or my desire to get what I want? I don't know. I...
                                          Thay sighed.
I don't want to make her cry.
                                          She put the scissors down.
"You know that I would like nothing better than to see you with short hair. But that's what I want. It's not what you want. You... you like your hair like this. And if you did cut it, you would regret it. And I don't want to see you sad. So no... I don't want you to cut it. Not at this moment. Eventually, yes. But not now."
Layress looked up at her and smiled.
"Your journey to the light side is now complete."
                                          "What?"
"The old you wouldn't have hesitated to chop it off."
"You're a bad influence on me."
Thay put her arms around her.
" You... You make realize that I care about somethings more than my own interests. I'm not used to that."
"That's a good thing for a parent to have."
"I... I never thought I would ever be a parent."
                                          "Why not?"
"When I was captured by the Ask'karr... They had never seen a Bajoran before so they... experimented on me. I... I can't have children."
                                          "Thay..."
"That's why I'm so protective of you and them. They're the children I never thought I'd be able to have."
Thay looked into the mirror and saw both of them were crying.
"I'll be very careful with them."
"You better. If you die I'll never forgive you."

                                          Bajor (prime)

Night had fallen over the area. Two of the planets moons were full in sky. The sounds of the evenings celebration had died down. Most of those invited had already left for their homes. On the back porch two people were in the swinging chair. One was upright, the other lay with their head in the lap of the other.
"You know you didn't have to eat it," Heath said.
Ford managed to make some kind of inarticulate sound from her lap.
"You should be able to talk again by tomorrow."
He waved a hand in acknowledgement.
"Even though you did pass out after the first bite they appreciated the effort."
He gave her a thumbs up.
                                          She sighed.
"They like you. They accept you into the family... And have no idea that this is just a ruse to...they think it's all real. I need to tell them..."
He waved a disapproving finger at her.
"I can't let them go on thinking this. It'll break their hearts to find out..."
He took her left hand, folded down her fingers except for the fourth and put that one through the ring holding the front of her top together.
She was annoyed at first, then confused, then the meaning hit her. Ring on the finger...
"Are you saying that we really should get married?"
                                          He gave another thumbs up.
"You don't joke about something like that."
He brought her hand down kissed it.
"I suppose we could... And later claim it didn't work out..."
He put a finger on her lips.
                                          "What?"
With effort he sat up sweating
                                          "Careful, you'll pass out again."
He smiled, and leaned in to kiss her only to have his stomach rebel at that moment and ruin the mood and her dress.
"This is just the path my Pah is on isn't it?" She asked his unconscious body.
She drug him back inside to clean up.
