We shouldn't discriminate against saucer sections which are different. Let's not become saucerist.
*HAHAHAHAHAHAHA*
Thank you for good-hearted laughs.
Aside of that, to the topic - aesthetics are highly subjective. So let's play nice.

I think I'll have to see it actually ingame to make up my mind about it. There are plenty of ships in STO which looked a little... wonky the first time I saw them. I have to remind myself the ship is merely the shiny box which we put all the toys into.
Remember, the Dev Team's work here is intended to tie in with the fiftieth anniversary of Star Trek. No TOS, none of what came after could have happened. Even if It turns out I dislike what they have done, I can still offer respect for the effort they put into this.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
Others may well disagree with me, but I think that is possibly the ugliest ship design I have ever seen in any kind of Star Trek content.
i agree with you however the other ships 5 bottom ones in the list do look sweet but im not sure if im ready to spent £100!
Just wait for that adolescent Canadian kid that didn't understand exchange rates. He'll probably be upset that he has to pay 170 Canadian dollars compared to Americans paying $129.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.
In my opinion it looks a TON better than the Galaxy Class starship. Meh, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I am looking forward to the new expansion.
At least it doesn't look like an old beer bottle opener...

For me the nacelles just dont look TOS or anything else.Trek Not just this ship either. I thought it was a joke at first. Man was I wrong.
Edit: Now I know what they remind me of, take a look at some of the Klingon ships. T5-6
That was kind of my take on the design. With a little modification, say the Orion-style weapon turrets on either side and an Orion skin, it would work well as a KDF design. Otherwise, I actually rather like the oddballdisc, but my own purchasing habits for STO may get in the way of me picking it up in spite of that; we'll have to wait and see.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
Anyone who suggests this is the ugliest ship in the game has never flown a Chimera or Odyssey.
I own, and have flown, both - in my view this thing is far more hideous than either. The Oddy, for a start, looks like a 'proper' starship to me - saucer, neck, secondary hull, two nacelles in pretty much the standard configuration. While the Chimera is a little bit more unusual it's still something you could see in a Star Trek show/movie and not think of as looking massively out of place. This thing though....still no.
That said, variety is the spice of life and everyone is entitled to their opinion.
They are presumably the first generation of Federation timeships designed to aid Temporal Investigations in protecting the timeline. The last two are from the future though.

It's probably worth noting for those people who didn't watch Enterprise that the upcoming T6 ship designs are based on the Enterprise-J (designed for a display panel only in a visit to the 26th century). The Sagittarius cruiser is the closest of the bunch but with 4 nacelles and set at a much smaller scale, ie. something that's playable in STO.
And to the thread, there's worse designs in STO even just among the T3 FED sci vessel. I think it's well balanced in most areas, where it isn't it's interesting, and there's some neat detailing going on. Pizza cutter? Meh, I see a Nautilus more.

The T6 temporal are indeed absolutely hideous. Usually I can see what they were going for even if I don't like the visuals. But those things, they look so low detailed and just - just incomprehensible.
The Ent-J was the worst base design they could choose - a ship even it's designer for the actual show claimed it looks horrible because it was made in a rushjob.

Unfortunately, even the ugly ships are canon.
That said.. They spared us the Yeager and the K'Vort so far.
And I know there are Tier 3 Science Vessel Fans out there. SO there is probably a lid for every pot, or a pizza for every cutter and a bat for every golfball.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
We've been spoiled I think... look at games like EVE Online. I'm not sure there is a single ship in that game I would say is pretty but they are very unique and follow certain design principles that make sense.

They are canon, but the J was never set in stone. It was part of a fluent future which possibly got changed, so Cryptic wouldn't have to stick slavishly to the whole temporal spiel as ENT put it. Same goes for the unification of all factions, it's a silly concept really. Of course this is welcomed by Cryptic because it cuts production costs, but still...

but why did daniels pull archer in the future and give archer a xindi token for? the events in the future will happen because archer did what daniels asked.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
A couple comments - I also originally thought the 'soccerball saucer' ships were ugly. Then, on a whim, I decided to make one of my sci captains fly one, fiddled with the design/color/nacelle options, and ended up with almost my favorite ship design (visually) of all my ships. Final design was (for my taste) elegant, futuristic, unique and just flat-out good looking.
So I don't discount a ship based on just one look at the base design any more.
That said, the photo in the OP isn't 'pretty', that's for sure. Although I think less 'pizza cutter' and more 'rocket bike'. Probably good for off-road, Cardassian badlands, and places where the space-dust gets pretty thick. Also for anywhere you don't want to take your main ride because the paint job is too expensive to mess up.
