I was under no such impression, I expect to see quite a few of these ship cards issued where no corresponding ship exists now or will ever exist.
typically now when you buy a ship or are given a ship you are given a corresponding admiralty card to accompany it, if a card is given like the T6 Assault Cruiser card chances are you will not see the ship as this would interfere with the ship & ship card combo as you cannot get 2 cards for the same ship.
you may see a similar ship with a lessor or different rarity but not the exact same.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
It'll come. Just not immediately. Cryptic will probably wait until they make the new strategist spec a full spec, like they did with pilot. Then the T6 assault cruiser will probably have either a lieutenant or lieutenant commander strategist station. So, I would expect some time in season 12.

I predicted the same thing since there's already a glut of command spec cruisers. I also hoped that we would see the T6 Sovereign soon but considering that they Odyssey was just released, we probably won't see it for a while. They'll throw a few filler ships in between.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

What if the T6 Sovy is actually... a Pilot ship? I mean we DID see Riker manually control the ship in Insurrection. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4x1K97JZG0
At about :33 is when Riker calls for the joystick.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

I called the console for it years ago:
"Manual Steering Console":
Passive: +15 % turn rate bonus
When you activate this console, you gain +25 % turn rate and flight speed strength and +25 defense for 30 seconds.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.

You know... I HAD that model joystick too.
Wish I could remember what it was called, but it was that exact design with the red trigger and grey buttons.

Yea. One of the most unbelievable moments in Star Trek history... if only for the fact that the effin' joystick would still be around in the 24th century.
But back on topic. I wouldn't mind a strategist specialization for extreme defense to offset the "the only way to pvp is dps" crew. Turtling up to counter that -should- be a valid strategy, a counter to those who focus solely on antiproton-critD/Pen/Over-pewpewyoudie kind of strategies. Pure damage -should- have a hard counter. From what I've seen, there isn't one. (Feedback pulse is nice but you still need to survive while it does its job).
... forget your fears. And want no more...

Actually... I do not believe it is unbelievable at all. Sure i the age of LCARS controls the Joystick may seem rather backwards... but its a proven technology, like the steering wheel. If it ain't broke, don't fix it sort of thing.
Also, a mechanical means of steering would still be a viable backup if for some reason the LCARS controls failed or maybe you needed something a little more hands on for fine control.
Hell... in any combat sim or starfighter depicted in a future setting, the primary control system is some form of manual steering like in modern aircraft. So again... it is still a viable alternative due to being simple.

that makes a lot of sense in having a backup that was simpler and also you cannot usually take over a manual control unlike the LCARS controls
Pilot specialization on anything other than a escort seems to be like a lock box feature...gotta keep the gamble boxers happy and feeling special.
Actually... we've already seen Cruisers in 2 specialization flavors already. Intel and Command. While Intel may synergize a bit more with Science, we still have the Eclipse Intel Cruiser and the Guardian Cruiser with an Intel seat.
While most new Cruisers lean towards Command, it is possible for ships of a certain type to be of a different Spec Flavor. I can see a T6 Sovy having a similar BOff layout to the Eclipse or Guardian and have a Lt. Pilot seat.

Some form of control wheel/stick is fairly popular in many scifi fictions still. You add in force feedback so your pilot doesn't make your 500m capital ship spin like a fighter and smear its crew across the inside of the hull. It ties in, at least in terms of plot device, to the human response to having something physical with which to work. It also allows the user to push the ship a bit harder with that force feedback effect. If you are straining to turn the wheel it means you're outside 'safe' and into 'pushing'.
IMO it also seems a shitton more realistic than a Haptic hologram system(Mass Effect) or other overly complex and power hungry system for military vessels. You don't want shiny scifi ooo ahhh, you want rugged, durable, and not prone to flickering offline while fighting.
I've said this before, but it's worth repeating. The Nova class would have made a perfect Sci-Pilot hybrid.
The Nova would be a PERFECT ship for Pilot skills. It's a smaller ship, easily believable as a highly maneuverable vessel.
Players are always asking for more variety in Science Ships, this would be a great solution and the Pilot Maneuvers would give it something to set it apart from other Science Ships like the Scryer or Pathfinder. It just makes sense.
I dragged out some old mark X borg gear from the bank, and dropped it into the "visuals" slot of my T5-U Fleet assault cruiser retrofit & viola - Assimilated! Got more than a few looks flying it around, heheh.

It would sell like hot cakes, being an Enterprise variant after all.

You mean just like people were hoping for a T6 Nova after the Rhode Island?
Just because its a T6 admiralty card doesn't mean the ship will be playable. There's no playable Voth Citadel either, the thing is too big.
Yes, a T6 Sovereign would sell like hot cakes, I'm sure of that. Also I agree with the pilot spec being on it to a degree.
"Let them eat static!"
Not entirely accurate. Slap the Borg set on the upcoming T6 Sovy and BOOM! Assimilated Sovy.

Tbh i think you may be right , just seems there is more focus on these lousy cards then anything else.
I'm saving them to build a deck with! Do you have any dual lands?
