Here I thought for a moment STO was doing good again keeping power creep more in check, expanding laterally with useful new skills, keeping faction uniqueness, ship classes (C-Store, lobi, event, etc.) on some sort of balance, instead it's another Joker Card that topples everything upside down yet again.
I can no longer take this game seriously. Period. Full stop.
I have a feeling that with these new ships, that engineering slots will need resists and/or hull hp filled as a mandatory thing... they seem rather squishy.
The most hilarious part here is the OP's failed attempt(s) to get people riled up/trolled to the point that he/she is begging for someone to complain, or in their words - whine, while absolutely no one seems to even care. LOL After all these years, the people who stayed don't really care anymore and those who really cared left, so there's that.
Sorry mate, you're about 3 years late to that particular party. That train came and left the station years ago. Maybe try opening some lockboxes so you can get a Na'kuhl temporal ship or a Wells and go back to those moments in STO history.
THe fact they can use the battle-cloak is not that big for me at all either way, almost wish we might see that if you get the full Na'kuhl set it would give you an enhancement to your cloak though. Like either that it now functions like a enhanced battle-cloak, or a effect that while cloaked you gain a increased cooldown reduction, or even gaining a buff during being cloaked that is tied to the ship-type you are using (raider, battle-cruiser, science-ship). This is though something I wish we would see even as a starship trait that while cloaked cloak-capable ships would gain different buffs or effects, which could make cloaks abit more interesting an viable than they currently are as well as a buff to another style of play.
My larger hope is that we might see each of the Na'kuhl ships give access to ship parts linked to that ship for use on the other Na-kuhl ships in the ship-tailor. I personally do like both the design styles of the battle-cruiser an the science ship, as such being able to gain access to ship parts that use a similar design style on these two an make a more personalized look would be nice.
Or perhaps because I posted a parody thread making light of the incident before any true rage threads could emerge I deflected the issue entirely thereby preserving the forums and collective sanity of the community.

I'd love to know why the OP hates a lockbox ship with a battle cloak. Like you said, we old timers don't care anymore. It's always some new shiny ship with something that makes it better than the last ones. That being said, I'd love to know the stats on the science one.
On the other hand, why aren't cloaking devices a kind of module you can optionally slot on cloak-capable racial ships?
Because there's canonically no such thing as a "cloak-capable racial ship." If you have a cloaking device, you can pretty much install it onto any ship.

Well..we know its a
LTC Tac/Intel
LT Eng/Pilot
CMD SCI ( Assumption as its a sci ship)..
so..we either have
anther LTC (something) and Ensign (something)
or 2x Lt seats..
it is ok for me; with or without battlecloak, ISA, CCA etc will stay the same. And the owners of these new ships will play, like they had used to play before the nakull ships (FAW, tractorbeam repulsor -or something like that-, grav well). sadly these new ships won't improve the quality of the game, but at least some players will be happy.
Find it difficult to understand why anybody gets excited over a battle cloak. Most of the ships I own have them, never use them. I do not PVP, nor does anyone else really. Battle cloaks in pve serve no real purpose. A standard cloak is fine for the initial alpha strike, but after than, cloaking in battle serves as a dps loss. But hey, Cryptic throws battle cloaks our for everyone, they will throw their money at the screen! Dumb.

Well...for 1 simple reason..Most of us playing Feds (and not running a defiant 3 piece) have never had one...And..for those of us who have wanted a cloak in PVP (on a Fed sci ship thats not a scryer) we now have an option :P
I'm sad...not so much because of the battle cloak...but because these Na'kuhl ships make better Romulan ships then most Romulan ships themselves.
Better focus on plasma weapons and abilities, no useless Singularity core and abilities, and a Science ship!
Basically everything the Romulans don't have...a Raider, a Science ship, and I'm assuming this BC will be more agile than the Aelahl (Probably better stats in general thanks to power creep...and a Lt Cmdr Intel)
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
Fed battlecloak is already a thing with the console set from the Valiant.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
Well not everyone is focused on worrying about dps only, but on different forms of play that might interest them. An I personally would love to see both ship traits, space traits, and even other set bonuses that augment an improve stealth in different ways to add more elements to using cloaks.

Voth set gave cross faction battle cloak ages ago...
Non faction ships such as the nakhul and voth alien wierdness don't even count as far as I'm concerned.

I play mostly KDF and KDF-algned Rommie. As such, nearly all my characters have access to a cloaked ship of some sort.
I seldom use the cloak. Against preprgrammed, predictable NPCs, what's the point?
Against live players, it might be useful for an initial Alpha Strike. But with resistances and defenses so high, I never achieve the 'decloak first then one shot kill' so many players think they want except in a very few cases. And where's the fun in this again? The players I do PvP with are friends of many years with the occasional newbie. If they are cloaked and I am cloaked then it becomes a waiting game. One more time we are bored instead of entertained. The game becomes one of timing and nerves rather than skilled play performed by skilled players.
Gene Roddenberry purposely did not give cloaks to Starfleet ships because they were, "the Good Guys". So from a certain point of view, the Defiant and the Galaxy-X from DS9 and TNG violate canon in the worst possible way. They deliberately go against the ideas of the original creator of Star Trek.
In the old Starfleet Command series of games, there were valid game play reasons for Klingon and Romulan ships to act as submarines rather than starships. The Romulan ships especially were set up so the centerpiece of their tactics was using the cloaking ability well. Here is STO this is not the case. Klingon and Romulan ships do not need to cloak to be effective NPC killers.
On the rare occasions I play Blue Side, my char is supposed to be the next coming of James T. Kirk. Except for one time, he never needed a cloak in battle. So why should I? Or am I such a poor STO player the only way I can defeat the very same enemies Kirk mopped the floor with is by using a technological crutch which I am not supposed to have according to Gene?
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
Gene also had the unworkable "no conflict" rule about the crews.

desperately trying to make sense of it all. but just found out (through a support ticket) that my mac computer will no longer be supported, and I'm being kicked out this game.
my computer is the one I do work with (as a freelancer) and I'm not going to install TRIBBLE (windows) on it. also, it's too slow already (it's 6 years old) for this (heavy) game.
so, this is it. lucky me I only spent 3 months of my free time on it, and 20 euros. lesson learned, could've been worse.
seems they made the descision for me. no, I can't take them serious either. STOL has HUGE potential, but this is not realized.

I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.

This is true..but now...we fed can use a built in battle cloak on a science vessel!

Realistically though, how many players out there have the 3 Voth Ships to have the Full Voth Console Set enabling Battle Cloak through it
