I've found that, roughly half the time over the past few days, the initial 'assault' phase of The Breach event queue completes in roughly one minute--rather than the more common five minutes--and usually about the time I or a teammate destroys the first integrity field generator. Is this a matter of other players triggering an exploit, me being unaware of a much more efficient method for finishing the assault, or some other factor?

Because the first stage is optional you can bypass it by flying directly to the breach site. You can even see the direction markers. IIFC you don't lose any marks from bypassing the trench run.
Unfortunetly people just can't simply enjoy such things. They seem to feel the constant urge to babble it out whereever they go and even post videos about it on youtube. Which is why this little - convenience- will get fixed tomorrow. Thank goodness I'm done with the Breach already.
People's ingenuity at finding, erm, 'shortcuts', never fails to impress me. When it first happened to me, in the 'Star Wars' trench, I was like 'Wut?!'
I don't think it's really a bug; thus not really an exploit; but should be considered an exploit nonetheless, IMHO, as we all know, deep down, this is not what Cryptic intended.
Finding stuff like that was part of the game for a lot of us in ye olde days. Today it's called exploiting.

Unfortunately, people are using it more and more and can't believe there is a post on the shortcut already. At least, the event will be over soon but I'm sure Cryptic might treat this as an exploit if Argala was considered as one too...this might follow the same path.
But its the only one that really matters.
Finding interesting vistas and neat details in the game by going off track is exploration.
Taking an unintended route to finish a mission faster - yeah, sounds more like exploiting something*.
Not that it really matters. The trench run is pretty much the quickest thing in the mission usually.
*) more doesn't necessarily mean I consider it a "real" exploit. I could imagine worse things. We've had worse things - like people equipping double shields.
You're right. I stand corrected. I was conflating two events in my head. Been playing this game too long.
All the same I think I'll just leave it to other players to take advantage of. I tried it myself a few times out of curiosity but then I realised that the trench run is actually my favourite part of the mission. If there was an issue that meant the dreadnought popped early that would be another story.
Doff stacking
Nukara constant medium runs (900 FM per hour)
Romulan patrols for XP
The only one above that lasted more than 2 weeks in the game was doff stacking. I think it got patched after 2 1/2 years of being in the game.
Sir, yes sir!

LOL, I love how people will say just about anything to justify using exploits, including calling it a convenience instead of what it is...a exploit...and what you're doing is exploiting something that shouldn't be able to which means your cheating which you should get banned for...but that never happens in this game.
That is absolutely correct. I've seen this happen on more than one run now, and as we did everything else properly, it made not a lick of difference in the amount of marks we got at the end. I think people would be justifiably miffed that what basically tacks on an extra 3-4 minutes in a PvE that is already senselessly long for a 14-day event is of complete irrelevance to the mission overall. It's kind of like forcing everyone to take the scenic route for no good reason.
Wrong...an exploit is an exploit no matter how you look at it. Classic example in question is Argala.

This really gets at the heart of my question. Since the process in question bypasses objectives labeled as 'optional,' I wasn't clear on whether or not the bypass was intentional. I'm interested in clearing the queue as quickly as possible when I'm looking at doing it 50+ times over a couple of weeks, but I'm not interested in abusing an unintentional quirk of the map to do so. Clearly, it isn't intentional, and based on Taco's response, I won't expect to see it stick around.
