Nope. You can post as detailed of feedback as possible, it could be the consensus of 90% of the playerbase entire (not just forum users) that it should not go live, and they'll still push it through unchanged anyway without even acknowledging the negative feedback.
Positive feedback sometimes gets a reply, negative feedback gets ignored.
This is the right answer. They NEVER do. They will acknowledge bugs and suggestions and will repair critical bugs. However, in terms of suggestions if history is an indicator..it won't happen.
One thing I'd like to ask them, is to allow for ground specialisation. I have dedicated ground toons, and I've noted in the various threads that I'm not alone in this.
An option to choose more ground skills (doesn't have to be 20 out of 20 of course, but something more than 10 would be nice since we now have the option to choose to allocate more skills towards the ground part too) and less space skills would be much appreciated.
On some toons I will almost never play space missions so the fact that we're getting more skills for that part is mostly irrelevant for a significant part of my characters.
This option to specialise in ground combat has always been a good thing imo. Not just for me, but also for the game I think. More characters = more need to buy services etc.
On the other hand, the new system might actually better in that you don't have to sacrifice points for space anymore if you want to fill the ground skill. And we're getting combat specialist for free on all careers, so I guess that's the other part of the story.
It does feel like there will be little need to keep seperated ground and space characters though, and while this may be good for newer players, for those of us that already have them, several toons may become redundant. I hope they can avoid that.
They'll listen to all the feedback, but only implement the changes they think are within lines of the concept.
There are always people that suggest completely new systems in place of the ones they are developing. That's pretty much useless feedback, because the core concepts of the system have been in the making weeks or months ago, and the whole team knows why they picked the solutions they picked and not the countless other possibilities. They are not going to present you the whole decision process, and any idea you come up within the confines of a post (or even multiples) will have had less thought put into then the system they have already released on Tribble, and more people will have seen and worked on it then on yours. And it has actually been implemented within the game, having dealt with any unforeseen complications already, and with all the knowledge about the internals that we'll never know about.
What matters is details on specifics of the system. Inconsistencies. Bugs. Aspects that are unclear or badly explained. Things that do not work. Things that seem imbalanced. Things that seem counter-productive. There will assuredly plenty of that already, and getting this to work right will already take time.

And suggestions that tweak the design instead of trying to replace it entirely.
Think about the threads here suggesting changes or new features to the current Summer / Winter event, right before it starts or while it's in progress. That's way too late to make a major course correction.

They're not canceling the revamp no matter how much people gripe.
But adjusting the numbers that you get from the new skills? that's a definite maybe.
when did they ever listen to tribble feedback? remember delta rising?
bugs from tribble forum on the release version
Knowing a bug might exist does not instantly fix it. It could be a PEBCAK error, it could be difficult to replicate, it could be difficult to fix, other bugs could have a higher priority and triage says this bug must remain for now.
Knowing a small bug exists and launch and fix is one thing...when you know there is a critical bug and release anyway...yeah...no. they either didn't read the feedback...or they have zero sense.
Or like with most game releases they have a set in stone ship date, and there were even worse bugs that they fixed instead.
Maybe the cynics are right and they ignore most bug reports. But it's 100% certain they will ignore the reports you never make.
Hmm. So testing is mostly for our curiosity and major critical bugs. Great.
Unless you can convince them that the bug you identified is also granting "too much" XP and Dilithium. Then you might get an immediate priority midday hotfix.
((shrug)) There's 3-4 fairly major things Cryptic put into Champions Online taken directly from my suggestions. Same happened with City of Heroes way, way back.
It IS possible to make a case they'll respond to and act on, but there's very much an element of putting it in Designers Terms rather than Player Terms. People are frequently oblivious to how completely unrelated a good Developer's goals are from a typical player's.
No they never have before. By the time they make an announcement the system is more or less done and will get released as is. Our feedback, in general, doesn't seem to matter much.
Well I will say that I am mostly concerned with all the special consoles - both fleet and lock box that boost skills. Frankly I am worried this whole thing will be pushed to holodeck - working as intended. Really looking for the forums to burn brightly after it goes live, no matter what changes are made.
Yeah, I'd like to test out on Tribble, but guess what?! Can't. All my chars are wiped from it! And when I go the page to transfer a new one, only 'Redshirt' is an option (to which I have no access either).
I look forward to having every single poster in this thread eat some crow when our next patch to the Skill Revamp hits next week.
Sorry. Caitians are vegetarians. I would consider eating some cookies though
On a more serious note: my request for allowing more points to be spent in the ground part -and less in the space part - of the new skill tree. Is there any chance such changes could still be made at this point?
So, any thoughts for those of us locked out of Tribble? You know, the ones who want to be constructive.
Tribble is not locked out - all players can access it. So if you're having issues doing so... I'm not sure how to help.
The only thing I could think of would be to click the "Options" link in your patcher, then check the box next to "Show All Games" then restart the patcher. This might allow server options that are otherwise not visible for some reason that I'm not familiar with? Just an idea.
As I mentioned earlier, you'll need to create a new Character to try out the system right now, as we've disabled any existing characters and disabled character transfers temporarily. This functionality will return next week.

That got it. Thank you. Patching now. It's been a long, long time since I set up the test server with the Champion launcher .
Looking forward to digging into this. I've already got a few ideas relating to genetic resequencers...
Someone said Borticus was snarky on Reddit and people started saying he wasn't. Then came his first post on this thread, lol.
On another note, devs do a few times adjust things after feedback, but it tends to be more for new stuff like this. Be careful with your feedback, sometimes the adjustments are heavy handed.

I've never understood why they even bother having a test server.

1.) They're (Bort & team) listening.
2.) It's happening. Get over it. Offer constructive criticism - or - kindly keep it to yourself.

A few posters in this thread(prior to your post, even) are saying you guys *are* listening to feedback, so why would they need to eat crow?
