I voted for it. I have no intention of getting it, because I hate carriers, but I voted for it so that the Jupiter people can have their day. Just like the Typhoon people got theirs with the command cruisers.

The majority of those who voted disagree with you.
The Jupiter won the total majority vote at the end by a relatively narrow margin and that was between only two choices of the eight originally supplied. Do you really want to jump to the conclusion that most of those who voted (in total) preferred it? You'd really need a one round process for that.

I just jumped in game and took a look at the ship. There are quite a few around ESD, so I flew around in my Icarus and took a good look at the ship..
I think it looks fantastic. I realize it's all personal opinion, but I think the design team knocked it out of the park. I would prefer for the Nacells to be a little bit bigger, they look undersized on a ship with a hull that big, but other then that minor issue, the ship looks great.
I didn't buy one, it doesn't fit my play style.. but I do really like it.
Any one of the 8 possible designs would have a different group of people crying that the one that won is the worst design ever. I am just pleased that we got somewhat of a say in something that is now in game. I wish we had more votes but we got what we got. I would have liked any of the designs in the end but the one that I really wanted was the (now) Jupiter. Any way that it went would have been fine with me. The only thing I'm sad about is that I cannot afford to spend any money during this current sale so, I have to wait to try out the new carrier.
It's just got this lumpy misshapen front, spindly nacelles and there's just absolutely no beautiful to the design. Maybe it's got the best seating in the game, but why not just give up customization of every design they put up for consideration, because if the ship isn't hot to fly...

Cost. For that one eight-skin ship with (eventually) a 3,000 zen price tag they could eventually release eight ships for 3,000 each. The major cost on these things is almost surely the art assets so doubling/tripling/quadrupling/ect. up without bundles is probably prohibitive.
The front though isn't my worst problem with the Omega Jupiter, it's the back (which is where you'll spend most of your time.) "Battle Mollusc" is the only thing that really comes to mind. :P

I like it looks pretty good overall, though i would say i do wish atleast we got afew parts with this ships for the 2.4/3k price tag, just look at afew of the concept art as well as the runner ups which could be used to make some parts to give us more options for how she looks. Myself i would say that we could use getting the three other finalists to use for parts to customize here, even if it were a mixture of parts from the Gamma. epsilon, and alpha with some tweaks to make them work with the omega design.
I voted for it and can't wait to take USS Cephalopod out

I voted for it. It looks pretty neat. I wished there were customization options. I like to tinker with my ships. I don't like picking the bog-standard shape, even if it's from a ship that I absolutely love, like the Defiant or Intrepid.

It won by by 281 votes of 2775 total cast on the forums. While that wasn't the largest margin by any means, or even the largest turnout, it is the majority. In basically any election, a margin of greater than 10% would be considered a mandate.
Funny thing is, neither the winner of the race with the largest total margin (Round 2) nor the winner of the race with the largest total turnout (Round 3) managed to make it out of the semifinals.
It's going to be a really dry wine that gets made if those who complain the loudest about their choice not winning get all of their sour grapes together.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.
If there was a "none of the above", I would have voted for that. I don't understand why they just didn't sell the Jupiter and not something that kinda sorta looks like the Jupiter only not as good.
They're not really gone, as long as we remember them
The only thing about this ship that bugs me design-wise is how the rear section just tapers off. I would've rather the rear be more square and have a more abrupt end, since, as duncanidaho11 said, the ship kinda looks like a "battle mollusk". The overall profile of the main hull looks very much like a clam or seashell because of that rear tapering, which is not appealing to me.
I voted for Alpha though. The mission pod on the top just really sold the design as a carrier to me. Like bunansa, I wish they offered Alpha as an alternative skin since Alpha and Omega were very similar in terms of overall body structure.
Eh, that's not remotely the "most awful" ship in the game. Not even the ugliest Fed ship.
That said, I voted for the.... Gamma? Because I keep hoping for a T6 Heavy Cruiser. Love that 4-nacelle design (Dakota, with a mix of Cheyenne & Stargazer parts), and the Eclipse just doesn't quite scratch that itch.
I and the majority of the players voted for it; an impressive 70% coming from the forums alone.
Trendy herself stated that roughly 70% of the total votes were from these very forums (somewhere in one of the Omega/Jupiter threads), with the remainder coming from those outside the forums (meaning that even if some double or triple voted across all 3, the forum held the majority vote, contrary to the belief that the forums were the minority).

Now I'm just debating what to call it - perhaps the ATROX 2s

I'm sure if that ship was flesh and blood, the Momma ship would have killed it at birth.

Ooh, the Pathfinder is lush and looks like the real future of Starfleet design.
