I agreed with you @ufpterrell right up until you started with the global warming.
Yes, we've contributed, yes, we MAY have speeded it up, however there is zero scientific evidence to suggest we've caused it.
In fact, there's more evidence to suggest it's actually a natural occurrence.
Every few thousand years the earth goes through cycles of heating up and cooling down.
It's happened before and will inevitably happen again, FACT.
Actually...not really true. While there has been natural cycles of heating and cool, CO2 levels in the past extintion level heating cycles have always come AFTER the heating process has started. This time the rise in CO2 is BEFORE the massive heating cycle has started...so we COULD be the cause of the next extiction level rise in heat. However, one side is going it's not happen at all and the otherside is making some rather wild assumptions and nobody seems interested in the scientific process anymore.
Wild assumptions? like the assumption that we have precise enough data to know exactly what the CO2 levels were 300(let along 3000) years ago and the temperature at that time?

So tell me, what caused the past heating cycles?
You know what? You're right. Forget all those scientists out there who clearly went to university solely for the purpose of a liberal revolution and not this "science" stuff we here about. Those oil companies and the Koch's of the world, they truly have the answers and absolutely no (hidden?)agenda that gets in the way unlike the dirty liberals that masquerade as scientists.

Oh, and that one meteorologist that bucks the trend. I mean, there's your answer. What's massive aggregated data ever done for us anyways?
The point is we DON'T have enough data to know what "normal" weather is. We don't actually understand why there was a mini-ice age during the 1600-1700s. Also we don't know if it's actually over yet. the only way to know requires information we can't get.

And yeah... scientists DO often have hidden agendas... or just agendas, they don't always bother to hide them.

yeah, but we do have enough data backing up the CO2 problem. Ignoring that is like hiding your head in the sand. Regardless of the natural course of climate development on Earth, it would be pretty ignorant of us to ignore our footprint that particularly unchecked could result in a drastic change in the way of life that we currently have. So yeah, the Earth is not something we entirely understand, but feeding into a problem isn't exactly intelligent.

And my point about agendas, you honestly trust people who are all about digging up stuff from the ground and setting it on fire for a profit over people who have actually poured over the data?

Turkey soup is always good the next day, better if you live someplace cold.

Turkey soup is a bit more preparation than I think I want to do right now. My head is feeling better, but not great. I'm leaning towards melts. Melty cheddar sounds good right now.
