Sure. Add it back for those who want it. Then add knockdown/knockback negation to the Party Nullifer.
Problem solved. Problem staying solved. Rangers lead the way.
A snowball knockback/down nullifier? This is acceptable. The people who don't want to be knocked down, aren't and those that do, can be. Only trolls would see this is a bad option. Make it cost 100 GPL, and be done with it.
Problem is a knockback nullifier would make Willpower useless in PVE unless it was non combat nullification only.

Gonna have to say this is a really poor idea, unless something is changed to prevent griefing. I'd be willing to support it if snowballs could not be used to disrupt people's gameplay. Barring that, this thread is just a place for trolls to ask for their griefing tools back, and at the same time get in shots at all the people who don't appreciate what a fine time they are having disrupting other people's fun.
Another Green Orion thread. This will not end well.

It will only end as good/bad as people make it. All is in the community's hands. Just because people disagree, it doesn't mean it has to end badly. Will it, though? We will see.
I certainly hope not.

One constant thing I've noticed about trolls in different games is that they all tend to love any device or power that lets them have some effect on other players against their will.
"Oh, it's just fun"
Different people have different definitions of fun. There is no single, "right" definition. That being the case, each person should be able to choose for themselves whether or not to take part in something. The point is, regardless of your personal definition, only trolls think it is fun to FORCE other people to take part in something against their will.

Think of the other side of the argument, then: because of some people, who are keen on not participating in anything they see as 'trolly' or which 'insults' them, we also often are robbed of potentially light-hearted and funny, good things. I can't speak for everyone, so I'll speak for myself - I think it's shame. People imho really should lighten up. Having a snowball thrown at your character doesn't mean an end of the world. Just grin & throw back.
But that's just me.

This. just this. It's why I say the subspace party nullifier is my favorite item in STO.

While I don't disagree, there is no reason to not have the knockdown interrupt the PVE race or other activities like pie eating etc. One person's idea of "fun" does not/should not supersede the next person's idea of "fun". People who would like to participate in those Winter Activities without interruption should be able to. There are plenty of people around to have snowball fights with.
Places like the ice-lake, PvP race etc. should be open game.
Imho a reasomable middle-ground there. The knock-back should not cause interrupts, but still would be nice & fun effect to have.

Look at the Snowmen. They don't throw at you when you are in the Race, but as soon as you cross the finish line they let you have it. I have no problem with that at all.

You missed my point. I'm *NOT* saying there should be no snowball fights. I'm *NOT* saying the people who DO want to do this should be "robbed" of the fun. But what I *AM* saying is that the people who do not want to take part in it should not be forced to do so by other people. It should be optional. If that requires something like the party nullifier, so be it. Again though, trying to force something onto other people against their will is trolling. Asking for choice means everyone wins.
I could definitely get behind snowballs as long as they don't interrupt our interactions with anything else. I mean, it's really only logical. In real life, I don't start dancing uncontrollably when I see a disco ball, flashing lights, and all that, but I do ingame, so why shouldn't I fall over when someone his me with a snowball, even if it wouldn't happen IRL? Fine. But, if it interferes with me completing other objectives, that's not cool. No pun intended.

I'll be honest: I want the knockdown effect reinstated because my victimhood complex needs nourishment. Instead of, you know, throwing a snowball back (and knocking the other person down ((trigger warning))), I actually desire some kind of victimization to make my online gaming experience fulfilling.
The sad thing is, even though you're trying desperately to be facetious with this post, you obviously really believe this.
And as much as you might like to deny it, your past history both in-game and here in the forums, supersedes any denial you may post from this point on.
It's really a shame that your idea of "the most fun", always seems to come with the expectation that it has to be at the expense of others.
I feel sorry for you.

I think this is a good middle ground. I'd like to see the knockdown returned to the game - knocking someone down in 'revenge' for pelting me with the snowball in the first place is good, clean, healthy fun.
That said, I can understand how some people might find it annoying if a snowball knockdown interrupted an interact, such as during pie contest. So if the interrupt element was removed - I'd be fine with that (we know something comparable is possible, as some interacts continue even when you take damage).
As for the other, unrelated posts, lets chill out (pun definitely intended) and focus on the suggestion, rather than making accusations against other posters.
The simplest solution would be to set it up to be workable on the Andorian Homeworld in the fighting zones.
Then it could be used year round and there would be no reason for anybody to get involved unless they truly wished too.

Even the Evil NPC Snowmen have more sense about disrupting interacts than some others. What a world, what a world!!

No, a good middle ground is having it turned off by default and having the option to turn it on for those who want to.
Too much room for abuse for this feature.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
I never said that snow balls should interrupt other winter activities like the race or pie-eating contests. If there is a way to bring back the knockdown effect without disrupting actions then I would 100℅ support it.
Otherwise it would just be trollish, something I am very much against as a ranking member of SFD.
That's pretty fair, in all honesty.
I could live with that.

I'll do you one better: the snow ball has absolutely NO effect on anyone who opts out. Again, it can be a device like the party nullifier. Unless you just enjoy trolling, there is no reason you should be opposed to people being able to completely opt out of any effect of you throwing a snowball at them.
