I kinda agree i would not mind seeing atleast afew other races geting some specific ships for them, even if it was just getting the Ferasian on kdf a ship to have them equal out with thier fed counterparts. I could see them actually bringing more science orietned battle-ships as they have latent psionic abilities, which would also bringing more science ships to the kdf that have been asked for already. Though i would also like to see them add a third cousin race to these two for the romulan side, a race that might be more devious an treachous like the romulans already are, but also quite intellegent an clever as well to denote how romulan society would be. Now if you added such a ship an new race to the game it would be interesting to also add a pack that you can buy all three ships an races, which would give you access to each of them on either of the factions with a race specific design flavor added to each (like a fersian styled design looks for the atrox.) that would be something really interesting (just wish we could race change our existing characters).
Also though i am wondering if we could get any word on if we will get federation frigate-level pets, either with this carrier or in the future, or if it might be more of a buffed up an impressive hanger-pet tha combines aspects of shuttles an fighters? Myself if we were going to get a new frigate level of hanger-pets doing a event like was done with the new federation carrier would be really interesting. Could be a poll asking if we wanted another shuttle, fighter, shuttle-fighter hybrid, or a frigate hanger-pet, while than the rest would be use voting an choosing elements an designs for the hanger-pet to possess almost like a mini-event to run alongside the new carrier. Myself i would want a shuttle-fighter hybrid type craft added myself than frigate as a hybrid craft feels more federation than deploying frigates.
We also kinda need a rework, update to the hanger/seperation pet UI, to make using an controling them more effective, not a general buff to the pets just a improvement to the UI to allow for better usage an control.
Anniversary ships need to be cross faction, unless we're also getting Klingon and Romulan carriers as well. (I guess that they could do a T6 Vo'quv and something Romulan, but it'd be unlikely.)
Here's to hoping that hanger pets get de-nerfed at the same time, current carriers might as well be launching glass kittens into space for how effective they are before getting mullered by any passing ship explosion.
That remind me...why do they make warp breach a 100% chance of happening? Not every destroyed ship get a warp core breach you know?
Wierd as it might sound i kinda would not mind seeing them give us three versions of frigates, each one outfitted for different duties. For instance something like the light cruiser/frigate class (Miranda, centaur, shi'kahr) for more of a surdy an survivable pet, for a more damage oriented i would go with the normal escort (sabre, rapier, Ushaan) or even the to me much better yet larger patrol escort (Dervish, Gryphon, Hermes, Maelstrom), and then finally it would be something more support-based so science giving us either the Oberth (kinda ugly to me) or the science vessal (Nova, Aurora, Qausar) though even the Research science vessals would work if a bit too big (Olympic, horison, hope).
I was alittle disappointed the winner didn't really get a more unique look, it more or less looks like a larger Vesta. Just wish it had more flare being that it's supposed to be the first 4-wing carrier for the Federation. I was hoping for something more on the lines of the Atrox, a massive carrier with an actual unique design even though it's not Federation in origin.
I do hope that it will be science friendly or at least have a science oriented version much like the Odyssey and Comm Cruisers do.
I would like to see the ability to have multiple options for Hanger Pets, with the peregrine being the baseline fighter craft, the Miranda being one frigate option available, the Rhode Island and the Sabre.
The Miranda should be a beam based, balanced option, the Rhode Island should be beam and space magic based, with a focus on defense and healing the mother ship, and the Sabre should be a offensive, cannon based option that focuses on DPS.
The same rules for frigates on other ships should be present. Small craft come in batches of six per hanger. Frigates in batches of four. I would encourage the Devs to consider an actual Carrier pet revamp and a true port and starboard mounted broadside style weapon mounting. (Dual Beam Banks on the SIDE of the ship shielding the launch bays from fire with the bulk of the ship as we do with modern carrier design).
Carrier Pet Revamp: Carrier Pets need to have a few things changed over. For one they need to have things like pilot training from the player carry over to the Pet (especially Scratch the Paint). They need to be counted for things such as consoles and traits as full allies, benefitting for example from the Resonance Cascade Modulator which currently does not affect pets as it does teammates. These fighters are teammates too, and represent in-game living members of our team, why would we not shield them with our "Team Fortress" ability?
Pets in general need to have a rise in HP across the board, and perhaps a damage buff to match. As it stands a simple Torpedo Spread 1 can take out most Fighter Wings. Fighters should a defense bonus versus torpedos as the ships are suppose to be the far more
A couple dream features would be to give us a hotswap to prepped owned shuttle or frigate of the type being deployed and we take over piloting that as the carrier continues it's broadside on a target, and even more of a dream, To give us the option from the start for what our commander seat is. Is it Tac / Eng / Sci and Pilot / Command / Intel Changing the entire feel and purpose of the ship.
That would be the ultimate expression of a player created ship.
Was looking at some of the concept art work that they put into the different ship designs, and i found afew of them really interesting an hoping we might see some of them either as parts/skins for the carrier we get to use for customization, as well as for additional ship releases later on of varying styles of ships as some could work as a sci or tectical ship.
In the picture below the ones i found interesting in design are, 6, 11, 16, and 17 were some fo the best to me. I quite liked number 6 since it has the quad pylon/necelle look, but with the uper pylons seeming to also attach to a mission-pod or secondary hull either above or below the main saucer much like a carrier version patrol escort in design.

Yeah, my favorite of all the designs was 6 up there... but then again I neither chose the winner (though I predicted the final round based on the designations) nor am I all that likely to buy a standalone Fed offering anyway (I play all three factions, so I favor purchases that benefit all three factions). Design 6, though, that really should end up being used for something. Depending on scaling, it could be made into a decent... pretty much anything. I really like that concept sketch.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.

Yeah i think it should honestly be looked at for being scalled down into a patrol escort size design size, with some elements like maybe combining six an 17. Though from the bottom right side of the page isix in some fashioon might work into the fed carrier via parts maybe.

I was looking at the last picture of the omega carrier blog (shown above), and when i looked at the circular indentations on the side of the ship something came to my mind. Based on how big the ship is maybe these are kind of a docking location for a support-like vessel on the ship when they are not in use/deployed. Now if you had several versions/variants to chose from for these support vessels that could do different functions (healing, damage, de-buffing) it would be an interesting aspect to the ship which has been done before on a kdf ship. Now if you than had several different design styles for these support vessel that you can choose from in the ship tailoring option it would be very interesting even to help hide what many think look out of place on it (i do kinda agree they do look out of place if not used for docking of a support craft.).
Now the reasoning i came up with a ship like this having support-craft that would dock with it is based on how large it is would easily see this being a great advantage an choice. Since your crew size would allow for off-duty crew to man these secondary support vessels to help defend/aid the main vessels alongside other hanger-vessels, or to allow it to do other duties like sending the support craft down to the surface of a world in times of need to ferry up the population to the carrier (also in a battle think of this as sending over the craft to another damage vessel an helping with repairs an evacuating the crew on ships too damaged to repair.). If used as a console on the ship that might give buffs to hanger/separation-pets passively based on which version is slotted it would really make the ship feel like a carrier as carriers are many times escorted by other ships (even having permanent escorts attached to them at times).
What do you all think? Also what kind of design style would you want for such a deploy-able support craft to have (i am thinking kinda like the deep-space science look just not with the extended pylons/nacelles), and the buff given by the support craft-deplying console on the ship? If you think it would have three version one for each duty (healing, de-buffing, dps) than what kind of tier set bonus would you want it to have?
This was posted in the other thread "A nice preview of the omega carrier., but i wanted to post it here as i think we can get some good thoughts on the subject here, and also maybe get it seen by the devs giving them ideas to work into maybe future design even (if not current one in the carrier.).
I would like at least Defiant and Alita Frigates. Defiants would be focused more on single target damage whereas the Alitas serve as force multipliers and limited area-denial with their use of pets and point-defense consoles.
Basic Defiant:
- Has Quad cannons
- Has standard Rare Frigate level abilities
Adv. Defiant:
- Has Quad cannons
- Has the torpedo console; using it once every 2 minutes in combat
- Has standard VR Frigate level abilities and a basic Specialist ability
Elite Defiant:
- Has Quad cannons
- Has Torpedo console
- Has UR Frigate level abilities and an advanced Specialist ability or two
Basic Alita:
- Uses the Akira model
- Has NO fighters
- Has Rare Frigate level abilities
Adv. Alita:
- Uses the Armitage model
- Launches standard Peregrine fighters
- Has the Phaser Point Defense console and uses it every 2 minutes while in combat
- Has VR Frigate abilities
Elite Alita:
- Uses the Alita model
- Launches Advanced Peregrine fighters
- Has both the Phaser Point-Defense console and Photon Torpedo Point-Defense console and alternates use between them every minute while in combat
- Has UR Frigate abilities
For pure fantasy fun, I'd also with for Pilot Escort Frigates; Elite only.
Elite Pilot Frigates:
- Uses the Tactical model
- Uses Pilot Maneuvers in combat with regularity (like the NPC Pilot Tac ship from the missions)
- Has the Micro-Missile Barrage console and uses it every 2 minutes while in combat
- Has UR Frigate abilities and Pilot abilities.

What about some science or engineering type frigates also, something that could be used more for healing/support functions. I could see using something like the Miranda and Rhode island designs for such frigates. Hanger-pets should not be solely something for dps but also alot of functions an duties.

That could be done too. I mean, the Terran Miranda Frigs basically do some sort of support for the larger ships. Although I think they'd rather give us Yellowstone Eng-support ships over a T6 Miranda, even if they never release one for player use outside of pets.
More likely, they'd just make a Science "Frigate" do double-duty.
Basic Nova:
- Uses the Nova model

Its cooler and honestly what would sell more fed carriers, a miranda hangar, a minor IP ship at best or a major IP ship hangar like the defiant?
Next we are voting on the layout, right? Then after that we are doing the skin? Isn't that what was said in the original post?
