version mismatch. catch 22

in Windows and General: PC, Network, and Other Technical Issues
logged out 4 hours ago. all was fine. ran all my toons.
now at 17:50cst, I try to login, no patch available, but I still get version mismatch, please run the patcher
so I run the patcher again. no patch. still get version mismatch on loading
run verify, no patch, still get version mismatch.

what-the-TRIBBLE-over.
