The launcher is in fact controlled by other folks, however I'm going to have a conversation with them about it.

EDIT: Especially after the 'fOctober' one prior.

Let me second that. Why do you guys even bother to "convert" maintenance times to different time zones if you can't do it properly?
The servers went down at 1400 UTC, and hour earlier than you said they would, which pretty much destroyed most of my today's gaming plans.

Umm...they didn't. They always do it local. She said 7AM/0700 Pacific Standard Time. At least that's what is said for me.

Although there's no accounting for the Daylight Savings Time system over her, my computer still can't get the damn thing right.

I think the text in the launcher window caused confusion:

for people in Europe at the least the times on the launcher is given in UST. But apparently the fact that the US is still running on Daylight Saving Time, but Europe switched last weekend, is confusing someone so it went down an hour early compared to the times given there.
    AH HA! THAT'S THE CONNECTION!

Or rather the missing clue. To be frank I didn't know Europe still participated in that.

Hi, I just want to say that despite the multiple maintinences of the server this has to be the smoothest patch/expansion/season I have seen Cryptic add to STO. This is an honest good effort in my eyes....and yes, I've had my share of complaints. Keep up the good work Devs and Trendy!

This is true, I didn't expect to be able to log in at all on Tuesday, and other than a few instances of lag and getting kicked at the end of my play time, it's been remarkably smooth.

Do you know what we need in this forum? A clock where everyone can see at what time in their time zone the maintenance starts and ends. Maybe on the top of the page, everytime maintenance starts a banner pops and it tells us how many hours until we can play again. I hope this idea gets approved and a shinny T6 comes my way. (LOL)

A REALLY cool looking LCARS style clock. Would a rotating picture of the Earth be too much to ask? Graphically Lush.

(I'm coming in and delaying my PTO for this cause I really want to oversee this due to technical-mumbo-jumbery)

So you basically told us nothing about nothing and your overseeing something you know nothing about. And delaying time off to do the job you are paid for, am I missing something ?

Why did you even bother to post ?
Even the word 'overseeing' gets misinterpreted as 'managing' and thus twisted into an argument proposing that I'm managing the process thereof. Really as 'overseeing' I'm monitoring it, constantly in talks with the engineers as well as other folks in the building and gathering status check-ins for my consumption. But all it takes is the twisting of the connotation of one word to grossly change the entire course of a thread and try to pick a fight with an Admin at 6AM.

    Bravo, you earned your ban.

VERY NICELY DONE !!! I may not agree with what happens in STO all the time, however, in this case, Trendy, you are 100% CORRECT and have gained many brownie points from me !!!

TYVM.. Have fun; be nice to each other... :O)

Gotta love how threads like this bring out the crybabies and whiners and know-it-alls.

That being said, thanks for the heads-up, Trendy, I don't envy you your job one bit right about now, on both the technical and Admin levels.

Is that really so? We must be playing some different games then, because the announcement I see reads "We will be performing Account Server maintenance on 10/30/2015 from 7-9 AM Pacific (1500-1700 UTC). Please check the forums for more infor"

Well that's the launcher, which I assume the Devs are the ones that control that. And then there's Trendy's post here that plainly says 7AM PST.

Out of curiosity what time is it for you on the other side of the pond. I'm on the US east coast where it's 1050. We're going to fall back into Daylight savings this weekend I want to see the difference.

I didn't see Trendy's post until the game went down. My comment was aimed at what was stated on the launcher.
Anyway, I'm in Western Europe Standard Time - we're 1 hour ahead of the UK - and it's 16:22 on my clock right now (4:22pm).

Probably because it's at least 30 degrees warmer there than freezing-to-death-in-October Rhode Island.

It's about inaccuracies and typos in launcher announcements.

As for general speed and quality... You're right, they're doing a good job overall, and anyone who thinks STO is somehow exceptionally bad with its updates either had never seen what happens in other games or lives in some parallel universe where everything except STO works just perfectly. Doesn't mean it can't be improved, but I'm sure the devs are aware of that too.

I previously played Dungeons and Dragons online and the furor raised any time an update, maintenance, or other systems outage was impressive. Honestly from what I've seen so far there can be improvements and more communication with the developers would be nice (one thing I really liked at the DDO forums was the dev tracker) but at least they are working on fixing the issues based on their budget. Keep in mind that most managerial types don't see fixing bugs as a profit center. Selling new items is what makes money and that's where the focus will be.

Keep improving, still annoyed by the d3d issue with my old pc but have a different pc it works on so I'm good for now.
