So anyone else notice the Nerf in the release notes?

Love how they all of a sudden decide to nerf turrets. They were not OPed if anything they were far to weak and needed a Buff not a Nerf. And adding a second weapon to them means nothing if the overall Damge is nerfed. Thanks so much for a nerf while at the same time releasing "God" ships that have a 1.3 and a 1.225 Shield amp and mega HPs. Yeah real nice move guys.

I just put two purple turrets in the bank on reserve for future builds and wonder if it is worth the space with the 50% and 70% less damage they are getting.

I believe the patch notes were referring to the deployable satellite turrets. Not ship mounted turrets.

I still stand by my comment but yeah OP might have got it confused the wording in the release not is not 100% clear on deployable satelites or just turrents :3

    • All Medium space turrets have had their innate damage buffs reduced by 50%, but have gained one additional weapon.
    • All Heavy space turrets have had their innate damage buffs reduced by 70%, but have gained two additional weapons.
    • All Heavy Torpedo space turrets no longer have access to High Yield, and have had their Torpedo Spread ability reduced from Rank III to Rank I.

I don't remember seeing any ship mounted turrets referred to as medium space or heavy space. And the fact that Torpedo turrets are mentioned as well makes me believe that it is referring to deployables.

    RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!

Oh wait, it's the device deployed turrets that almost no one uses.

    Oops, never mind.

Deployable turrets are fragile and get shot down by enemies pretty quickly anyway. I mainly use them just to slow down enemies so that I can bring my ship's weapons to bear.

Why would they nerf them? They're practically useless anyways.

The only time I ever used space turrets to any success was when I got so annoyed with Operation: Gamma that I started dropping one of those suckers on the first objective I disabled, to harass the little work bee that tried to go after it, while I worked on another target.

lol seriously... who uses these deployable turrets anyway these are horrible? they are way to pricey as they are 50k credits from boff assignments.. they die within 2-3 hits and did I mention they are useless? lol way to go to waste time on something that isn't used by 90% of the player base.

wild guess, don't be surpised if they release something that makes this make sense soon.

Where is that "reading is mandatory" picture?
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    What is a turret?

And for that matter, what is a cannon?

I ask because I have forgotten what they are since it became Star Trek BFAW Online....

Notice that new weapons are being added onto the turrets. That should make them a little bit more effective for clearing up small targets (which is probably the ideal use for turrets, you shouldn't expect much help against dreadnoughts and transwarp gates.)

Well, with this incoming nerf, even less reason to waste time and resources on them.

Nerf: a type of toy involving foam darts and the application to sibling's heads.

It's more accurately applied to a change that completely removes the efficacy of given gameplay item (therefore taking a weapon and turning it into a means of annoyance only.) It should NOT be thrown at any change where a "-" sign is observed, particularly when there are other "+" elsewhere in the equation! (or else we're going to lose all meaning behind the word very very soon, if it hasn't already happened)

    Emphasis mine.

The player deployable torpedo turrets never had HY or spread. This is talking about enemy NPC turrets.

Because you face a lot of them in the cardassian story arc. I think the players are completely unaffected by this change, it's only NPC mobs getting changed.

But good we opened a rant thread and rambled on how they nerf everything just to TRIBBLE players off. Good job.

I don't even remember player deployable turrets coming in different (light/medium/heavy) flavors, IIRC there is only one type without prefix.

There is a light satellite phaser turret which is a preorder gimmick for the digital-deluxe edition of STO (long before F2P). It's not a device but a tactical console which however does come in handy on shuttle missions pig-2.gif But that's to my knowledge the only one.

this image says wat people using cannons think.

if these are the ones you get from Doff missions they are the biggest Doff mission rip off in the game.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
