Would you pay Zen for a Hybrid Specialization change?

e30erneste30ernest Member Posts: 1,794 Arc User
Would you pay dil/money for a token that would allow you to change your ship's hybrid station to anther specialization (change ain intel seat to command or pilot for example)?

It will be 1 token per seat and the change would be permanent (you'll need another token to change it again to another spec).

Personally, I'd like to have this zen item. There are ships which I would like to switch from intel to command and vice versa. :)

If you did this, we would lose diversity in ship designs and just have cookie-cutter DPS builds.

I like the idea of it, yet in the same agree that it would minimize deversity. But honestly we already have that with people arguing how viable a ship is by the seating it has, yet also that we have min-max builds already in place with people making cookie-cutter builds. This would just let you play a different or new spec on a ship that you could not have prior, most of all if that spec is your favorite one, though i would say it would have to be used on a existing hybrid seat, and not being used to make one by adding a spec to anopther seat. One person might not like or find worth in the spec abilities, but many others do an so why limit them, most of all when even the worry of it creating less deversity/more cookie cutter is kinda here already since you have guides an builds for min-maxing to begin with.

Yeah that's the idea. Make more ships attractive by the ability to change its existing hybrid seat to another spec. The token will only change that seat (it won't change the special ship commands and abilities). I think this is a good way to promote ship diversity.

    Would I do it?

Yes. I would change my Presidio to Intel in a heartbeat.

I do agree though, it would kill any sense of diversity. Still, if that's what people want, I typically favor anything that lets people play what they want to play. If everyone ends up enjoying the same thing, then so be it.

There is however, no way that Cryptic would ever go for this.

I would be seriously tempted by a token that let you add a specialization to the seat of your choice on a T6 or T5U, but I don't think I'd want to change the ones we've got.

No, stop asking for this. It would ruin game balance and, as far as cryptic are concerned, massively undermine ship sales.

Tbh, I have never found an Intel/Command/Pilot ability that would be worth using over a Tac/Eng/Sci one.

    Then you never tried any.

Actually it could help ship sales, since it would no long be a viable question of what spec hybrid-seat a ship has, but how good the ship is by stats/trait/consoles they have with you being able to place/switch the hbrid seat to a speciality you prefer. If you are a lover of the defient yet prefer command abilties, or prefer intel an yet love the design of the commandships, well you can merely buy the token an get the ship while using the spec you prefer. It would be largely based on the price of such a token if it would be profitable, since we see alot of the times people wanting a ship (Ex. T-6 advanced escort), but because of a bad hybrid spec chosen to be used on it almsot write off buying the ship,

Yes, because then I could make a decent mixed beam bank/cannons build on more than a couple ships in the game. (surgical strikes)

He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.

As opposed to buying both ships. Meaning reduced ship sales.

    i don't know.

the idea is interesting and i'm not against the fact to use command or pilot skills with my intel ship, but in the same time this ship would lose its originality and the game would lose the diversity

No, but I would buy complete seating modifications for a reasonable price(500-1500ZEN) for existing ships. For example tactical modification with cmdr. tac. on the Yamato dreadnought along with intel specialization instead of command, or Hestia class modification with intel hybrid seating instead of command.
But I want permanent switchable solution, not one-time use.
500-1000 ZEN for just the mod or
1000-1500 ZEN if a nice new visuals would be bundled with it.

Yes, but only if the prices would be reasonable. So not more than 500 ZEN for a change to another specialization.

500, maybe.. 1500 would be too much in my opinion.

These ships are already 3k Zen plus the 500 for fleet level. An additional 1500 to change a Boff Seat would make these ships really expensive.

I would have to agree with this statement.

Besides... Pilot seating on a Cruiser doesn't make much sense, as it seems to synergize more with Escort/Destroyer type ships while Command synergizes more with Cruiser type ships.

We start giving the ability to change seating... someone will find the perfect storm combination and then... "unless you do that you fail. GTFO N00B".

So... yea... this is a bad idea. We already have problems with cookie cutter DPS builds. We don't need to make it worse.

They are different ships, the same as you can't change an engineering seat for tactical.

With enough spec points can't you max all the trees anyway? I don't think there is a spec point limit is there?

It's not about the spec point. It's about changing the Hybrid seating of your ship to a specialization of your choice. For example, I love how the Phantom looks and how it flies, but I would much rather prefer it to have Command rather than Intel seating. I'd pay for an option to do that.
