I'm looking forward to it. These missions were the worst left in the game. When I did my delta recruit all the way through everything the Cardassian part stood out pretty badly.
I too will gleefully welcome a swell polaron 360!
For whoever asked when this will come out? My guess would be October 13.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
How will this impact Delta Recruits who were supposed to have eternity to complete arcs? Should we rush through content if we haven't finished that on toons?
Salami said on Reddit chat that the Delta Recruit stuff will still work post revamp.
Oh thanks for this. This had me worried as I still had to get at least my rom and Klingon through this arc.
My mother always told me to walk away from a fight, The Marines taught me how.
Wait... where is Kurland? Isn't Kurland 'here' anymore?
Kurland will always be here, in our heart. Please, get a surgeon.
And I thought having ceti eels enter your ears while unable to prevent it was horrifying... but having a Kurland in your heart...
"-Captain... he's dead, Captain.
-What happened?
-Suicide by phaser, it seems. But why...?
*Tricorder beeps*
-Jesus Christ...
-What, doctor?
-*shaking* He... he had to endure and hear a Kurland in his heart... for 2 hours.
*close-up and fade to black with dramatic music*"
So, just as with the Romulan arc, anything not directly related to the Grand Vision will be deleted? Pretty much as I expected.... Tell me, at what point does Cryptic expect to reach its goal of removing every remaining trace of fun from this game?

Play the Cardassian Arc as it is now and tell me it's "fun" again.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
First off I want to let it be known I really dont like the idea that you are revamping the Cardassian episodes like you did the Romulan episodes (which some of my favorites were removed) I just hope that when you are checking and re-checking everything that you triple and quadrupel check EVERYTHING
Like the Admiral Zella mission. We can still queue and do that mission but can't turn it in. Now what is the point in still having that mission on the game if we cant do it? Either add it back to the Romulan story arc or completely get rid of it, it is a waste of everyones time if we cant turn it in among other things.
Also because of the infinate wisdom someone had in removing the bulk of the Romulan episodes or combining episodes together, something NEEDS to be done about Ja'rod's dialouge! Because Saturday's Child was removed, the episode "The Tribble with Klingons" is actually the players FIRST encounter wiith Ja'Rod, not their second.
"Richard, I'll give you one word of advice, you shouldn't anger a demigod" - Lord Archanfel, Supreme Zoalord and leader of the Chronos Organization in the series Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor series.
Am I somehow the only person who'll be sorry to see some of these missions go away? The DS9 occupation? The Changeling fight with Laas? I still think there was some good content in there. I only ever had a few gripes, and I'm hopeful the new arc will address those. Mostly, the old arc just didn't pay out reasonable skill point/xp rewards for the effort expended.
(Edit)
Oh, I see they're not touching the episodes after Second Wave. I'm happy to hear that!
Followup to my last post here, about "The Cardassian Arc is currently a mess and most of the missions is about other things than Cardassians.".
And looking at the news announcement.
“Spoils of War” will be the first episode in our updated Cardassian Struggle Arc. Over the next few weeks we will be unveiling each of these four new episodes. They will be replacing the existing Cardassian Struggle episodes from “Badlands” through “Cage of Fire”. The remainder of the arc, beginning with “Second Wave”, will remain unchanged.
Missions in the Cardassian Struggle arc. Badlands: True Way plot Suspect: Section 31 plot (unrelated to the True Way story. Does features a few cardassians at the begining, but they aren't importen to the plot) War Game: Undine (unrelated to the True Way story) Shutdown: More Undine (unrelated to True Way story) Rapier: Dominion (unrelated to the True Way story) Forging Bonds: True Way The Long Night: True Way The Tribble with Klingons: As the name states, Klingons focused. (unrelated to the True Way story) Tear of the Prophets: True Way and Mirror Universe. Crack in the Mirror: Mirror Universe. (ties in with last mission, but isn't about the True Way) The New Link: True Way (But more focused on the Dominion side of the True Way, rather than the Cardassian side.) Seeds of Dissent: True Way The Other Side: Mirror Univese (Returning the Orb of Possibilities the True Way had from the mirror universe and getting our own back. Ties in with the True Way story.) Cage of Fire: True Way
So that is:
7 True Way missions
2 Mirror missions. That aren't directly related to the Cardassian Story, but ties in with it.
2 Undine missions. Unrelated to the Cardassian Story.
1 Section 31 mission. Unrelated to the Cardassian Story.
1 Klingon mission. Unlrelated to the Cardassian Story.
1 Dominion missions. Unrelated to the Cardassain Story.
14 missions, and then there is the 5 missions in the Dominion Story (which remains unchanged)
Overall the Cardassian Struggle story arc is currently: 9 True Way related missions, and 10 missions unrelated.
19 Missions in total.
If I am reading the news announcement right... Those 14 missions are getting removed and relaced with 4 True Way focused missions.
So now the Cardassian Struggle story arc is gonna be 4 True Way missions, and the 5 Dominion missions(which remains unchanged).
9 Missions in total.
Now don't get me wrong, I am glad the missions are getting reworked like the Romulan missions did. They were also kinda messy, and needed a cleanup. So looking forward to see the new missions work and look better.
But...
So what happens to the missions that was unrelated to the True Way story that was in the Cardassian Struggle arc? Are they just getting removed entirely, or are they worked into this somehow? Or are they staying?
Even if they aren't importen to the True Way story, it would be a shame to the see story content from them get removed cause of that.
"Please, Captain, not in front of the Klingons." Spock to Kirk, as Kirk is about to hug him.
Star Trek V: "The Final Frontier"
Salami said on Reddit chat that the Delta Recruit stuff will still work post revamp.
Yeah - sure - once they fix all the bugs that will show up, which can take a month or more....
Edit:
I bet they will correctly set the whole Cardassian Struggle chain and then forgot fix all the Iconian Data and Artifacts needed to collect for Temporal Negotiator and Paradox Corrector.....
I don't understand the deleting of great content. This seems to be the current silly policy since this happens very often last time. Why is it not possible only to add new content without deleting old stuff? This can't be very hard!
Beside the problem with the worthless dealing with hard grinded accolades the last time they deleted content....
Replacing 15 episodes including "Voyage to Deep Space" - yes, I counted - with 4 is a good thing. There are not any remarkable rewards you can't get anywhere else in them. the biggest drawback is the loss of dilithium. They may also end up merging the Cardissian and mirror relevant content in missions like they did with the Romulan arc.
Is there going to be a farewell (or maybe good riddance) stream of the episodes being removed?
My recommendation concerning the Delta credit for the Cardissian arc is to grind through it now; I've had to do it twice but I will get credit.
So, just as with the Romulan arc, anything not directly related to the Grand Vision will be deleted? Pretty much as I expected.... Tell me, at what point does Cryptic expect to reach its goal of removing every remaining trace of fun from this game?

Darn sight more so than the Iconian War, I'll say that much.
Excellent and long overdue. I know there are plenty of (somewhat justified) jokes about "X was removed to improve the overall quality of the game", but these missions really haven't aged well and don't meet the standards set by more recent content.
One thing though - I hope when revamping/removing these, the Devs will keep in mind the links that these missions have with other parts of the game, such as Delta recruit technologies, etc. Don't want any more broken links to be created.
I'm of two minds about this.
I'm generally against removing content as a matter of quantity. If they were actually revamping it with the same or a similar number of episodes then I'd be cool with it. For all the problem Delta Rising had, the number of missions was ultimately a whole arc's worth.
More importantly, you're making the story TOO tight. Too streamlined. And instead of opening up the Galaxy and the stories you have available, you're closing them. There should be more missions that don't hook in to main storyline.
Taking out 14 episodes and replacing it with four or five makes it seem like a sidequest instead of an arc. Now that's fine if that's what it's supposed to be, but the thing is the Cardassian Struggle has been part of the main storyline since it came out.
And yes the Tribble planet mission should be moved to the Klingon story arc.
On the other hand I guess that considering the nature of New Dawn that this is only one piece of a larger pie.
Part of the issue with the Romulan Revamp is the fact that it removed so many episode replaced them with a few, and then that was it. I'm hoping that these won't be the only story/mission content added in.
Cause otherwise no matter how you look at it, it's still 10 less episodes of content to do.
All that said some of those missions really did feel more like misery. As much as I liked the mission to save the colony that was raising those pharmaceutical flowers, the mission to Empok Nor...man that was a long evil slog. Mind you if David Warner's voice had greeted us at the end as Gul Madred it would've all been worth it.
Also are these episodes going to be just the True Way story arc or is it True Way divided by Mirror Universe which has been talked up a lot in the New Dawn?
"Rise like Lions after slumber, In unvanquishable number, Shake your chains to earth like dew, Which in sleep had fallen on you-Ye are many they are few"
I honestly hope the revamp includes better or more VO for Kurland in "Boldly they Rode". When you are spoofing yourself accidentally or not (Midnight), it is a sign that improvement may be in order.
Well look at it like this, some people may replay all the episodes to that they can not only build their specialization points up but their Energy Credits. If they remove the episodes and or combine them, then they should increase the specialization point rewards from just 2500 or whatever it is.
"Richard, I'll give you one word of advice, you shouldn't anger a demigod" - Lord Archanfel, Supreme Zoalord and leader of the Chronos Organization in the series Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor series.
So is the new Cardassian Union or True Way reputation going to house the Resonating Tetyron beam weapons you can ONLY get from "New Link"? Also since you are potentially affecting 19 accolades, are these going to find there way into the new story arc?
How will this impact Delta Recruits who were supposed to have eternity to complete arcs? Should we rush through content if we haven't finished that on toons?
Salami said on Reddit chat that the Delta Recruit stuff will still work post revamp.
That's good to know. The only Delta Recruit I got as far as the Cardassian stuff stopped after War Games because I just couldn't muster up the stamina to slog through the rest of it.

Will the "Iconian items" still be there for the Delta Recruits? I'm still working on mine, so I need to collect all the items.
