I looks like using a proxy from another continent is causing some issues though technically they aren't as bad as not being able to load into the game.
At this moment, I'm loading into a map which requires a small patch. That patch says "Patching 1 files, 0 bytes/s." Currently I'm up to 600 seconds waiting for it. That's 10 minutes so far. Damn....
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

well that can be fixed by logging out and turning off on demand patching. actually, I would do that ether way one less thing to cause lag. granted you'll probably have to wait for the game to finish patching everything before you can log back on.
if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.
I haven't been able to log onto STO for 6 hours now. I was in middle of a CCE when severe lag and sttutering hit and tossed me out with a disconnection. I can log onto all the other ARC games such as NW. PWI, Swordsman, etc. Seems it only STO thats borked. I hope they add at least a day to CC event. Still have 5 toons to finish it on.
Has nothing to do with this Level3 thing going on. Look through all these posts and tracert's people have posted where the hop right before cryptic times out, these have been posted now for way longer than this Level3 thing.
Also seems to be mostly effecting Comcast people. Perhaps Comcast is throttling traffic to Congentco over some greedy corporation war. Who knows.
I never once had connection or lag issues with STO before Summer event started which was also around the time Net Neutrality kicked in. Not saying that has anything to do with it. But something to note.
Surf the 'net? Sure.
Facebook? Fine.
Netflix? No problem.
YouTube? You bet.
Rift? Rockin'. (Yes, movin' on to greener pastures...)

STO? SERVER NOT RESPONDING!!! (+ lag, rubberbanding, DCing, Login2_Timeout...you know, the usual)
While there may be outages out there (Cogent sucks, Comcast's throttling, blah blah excuse blah blah), it's...always...STO...that...has...issues. Do the math.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
This was posted on the NW forum, but I think it's relevant for STO too as it mentioned that the whole of the Boston area - where Cryptic's servers are located - are still affected by the outage. So for once it may not (entirely) be Cryptic's fault.
Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end of it.

Problem with that is, it has been happening longer that the time posted. Check through trace routes posted by people. Its the same thing in everyone. I don't think its Cryptic, its Comcast/Congentco issue. Hops are timing out before reaching Cryptic in every single tracert.
Think it was fixed on Thursday the 27th.
Ran trace route using program called pingplotter for a little while. To me is seems like its an issue with Comcast.
Who knows, just making guesses really but latency and jitter issues were mostly across Comcast hops. Could be many things I suppose. Just wish it would get fixed so I can play without issues again. I'm guessing the timed out hop is one of Cryptics server that blocks ping requests which would make sense why everyones always times out. I'm curious what a trace route would look like from someone on Cox or Time Warner Cable.

No there have been Comcast techs saying the problems occur at unknown addresses they can't identify. It's not a Comcast issue.
It's not like this sort of thing hasn't happened many times before.
and I've been trying to connect via the EU proxy but can't even get past the launcher's patch check.
What sucks is that Level3 says their problems are fixed, Cryptic's network techs say they can't find anything else wrong on their end and there's no mention anywhere of a problem between Comcast and Cogent; in fact all the info I've found says that traffic between them should be better than ever due to recent agreements.

I too can now not even use the EU proxy. Worked for a bit yesterday and now that doesn't even work. I know its not my internet, I even contact Comcast and they said there was nothing wrong with my connection.
And if Cryptic can't find any problems, maybe those of us who are experiencing this need to accept that our time with this game is done. The fact that its broken for us, but not for everyone...idk how to explain that.
It just sucks, I just bought a nice chunk of zen that now maybe wasted money if I have to stop playing. Its just odd, I have NEVER had issues like this before. Even when other people were, I have never had issues. I don't know why now and how not everyone is experiencing this.
Maybe its just time to leave this game behind. Cryptic shows no signs of doing anything to fix it.
In chat everyone who isn't experiencing these issues is outside the US. I find it odd that I can connect to servers in Boston via the EU proxy and I'm in the greater NYC area. I'm hearing people even in the Boston area have to use the EU proxy.
I've been hearing reports that The Elder Scrolls Online was also affected and had to reboot their servers to fully fix the problem. I can't confirm that and I don't know what it means for STO other than maybe they should take the servers down and reboot them.
I'm playing from the UK and the game pretty much works fine to me. If there hadn't been a thread about it I'd have never have even noticed there were bad lags.
This is really strange. I'm in Vermont, have Fairpoint dsl, and have had no problems whatsoever. No lag/rubberbanding, no disconnects and no problems logging in. Not bragging, just posting this as it might help pin this down.
I don't care what the header says, I am not now, nor have I ever been, nor will I ever be, an "ARC user".

I live in the US and I don't have this issue.... but my ISP is Windstream, not Comcast.
It's not Comcast, I'm in western mass and pass through Boston just fine, I don't have an issue until I get to hop before Cryptic

It's not Comcast in Boston. I'm located in Western Mass and my tracert passes through Boston and NY, I don't have an issue until the last hop to Cryptic.

Yeah, Western Mass too, on Comcast. But when I switched to the UK proxy everything improved by about 95%.

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

198.49.243.253 before the timeout is actually owned by Cryptic. Would be weird if the timed out hop wasn't Cryptics too.
STO on 2nd day without working.
Hard to believe Cryptic isn't having problems on their end.

Cannot even load npc ship names correctly, nevermind the going from crystal having health to a sudden jump of 84 seconds until leaving map...
