US and having the same timeout as everyone else. Sometimes I can play the game for an hour with no problems then server goes randomly non-responsive, rubber banding, even frooze a whole instance today. Was stuck banking a turn till i logged out. Some instances I'll just twitch around the map without being able to control my direction. Didn't have this issue until recently.

That's basically my tracert, and notice everything is fine except for the 21st hop (and I don't get xboxpatchserver).
People keep saying this is a Level 3 problem or that it's an act of god and Cryptic can't control thunderstorms. Some are even saying it's because Comcast is throttling Cogent but I can find nothing confirming it.
So what is the issue?
Well downdetector.com is reporting issues with Level and Comcast. I don't know how reliable the site is but it says there are major problems.

The 21st hop is probably just that server blocking ping requests. It gets past it to the 22nd hop.
xboxpatchserver is just another DNS entry for that same IP. It seems to have multiple.
Reverse DNS on that IP:
PTR 208.95.185.41 xboxpatchserver.crypticstudios.com 60 min
PTR 208.95.185.41 patchserverrebirth.crypticstudios.com 60 min
PTR 208.95.185.41 patchserver2.crypticstudios.com 60 min
As for what the actual issue is, no idea. I don't have any problem with anything else on the internet. As you say it's STO and only STO.

Yeah I think that hop always times out when I run a tracert. It's not the problem it's just interesting that that's the only hop that doesn't look normal and yet there's major lag and connection issues
Once again the Neverwinter team is on top of it's game while the STO team is......
Well there's probably the problem.
This IP from my trace route is in Boston, per the link.

Now why can't they post that here on the STO forum? That's what we want to see. We have to go browsing other games' sites to find that info? Unacceptable.
I'm getting horrendous rubberbanding and lag in sector space and in the crystalline event. I get timeouts every so often too. I'm getting off for now as the game is unplayable for me.
I just got in with the standalone launcher (Steams having issues of it's own) But then it says chat is offline and my rep windows won't load. Something is very very.......broken.
Having real connection issues here. All of my friends are having the same problem. Constant "server not responding", disconrects,Timeouts when connecting. Then, when in game you cant move your ship or even complete a mission.
Friday evening is when these problems became really noticeable for me, and got progressively worse until now when even logging in successfully only happens 50% of the time. Finishing a PvE or storyline is impossible due to intermittent disconnects and inability to pick up the mission where it was left. Lag in PvE queues makes staying involved impossible. Whatever is going on must be pretty serious! I hope some information about the nature of the problem comes out soon. For informational purposes I'm connecting from the US east coast.
Funny thing is that if you run the OS X client, eventual disconnects are nothing compared to the excessive GPU usage. Even if I were to rubberband for an unstable connection, I'd barely be able to recognise it. Rubberbanding there is a constant, as you wouldn't even move smoothly in ESD if you're looking at the environment. In Voth Battlezone the client simply crashes because the wrapper can't handle the memory load.
Standalone Steam launcher by the way, so something that's supposed to be working...
I need to get to him. I can't just leave him out there alone. - Sometimes you've got to makes sacrifices, Lara. You can't save everyone. - I know about sacrifices. - No, you know about loss. Sacrifice is a choice you make. Loss is a choice made for you. - I can't choose to let him die, Roth.
Well I was about to say its been kinda nice the last couple of days without constant map change freezing but of course that didn't last as I cant even stand in one place without rubberbanding now. Oh well they will either fix their blunders or people will continue to leave this game, and they will have to give away more free top line ships and spec points to coax people back.
I decided to try one of the proxy servers that's built into the launcher to see if I can actually play the game. Loading into it is certainly not lag free but the game is now playable. I recommend to anyone having issues that you try the US or EU proxy. They seem to work very well. BTW, thanks for all of the help and information, Cryptic Devs.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.
I have also been unable to play since Friday night. Though I was noticing performance issues as soon as Thursdays patch hit. But today even if I make it to the login server, it always times out when attempting to load a character.
Well, I just logged in, flew halfway across the Beta Quadrant, then played a Foundry mission. No noticeable lag. So whatever the cause is it isn't universal.
Super slow - LONG login times and long load. My issue us why is there no announcement addressing this issue? Even if it can't be fixed quickly they should STILL acknowledge it and let us know that they are watching (care).
Unplayable. Slow launcher load, long login + frequent Login2 errors, characters take half a minute to load, game itself is nothing but SNRs and lag so bad I can't even doff.
Other online games? Just fine. GW2, TF2, Planetside 2, ARK ... every online game I bother to try has normal latency except STO.
Again. Because this happened before the "big network hardware update" a month or two back, and it happened frequently after. Then the nice updates to rework AP:Beta and Borg assimilation abilities helped with lag a bit, but the actual infrastructure problems persist.
I can be patient, but I'm only human and I have a lot of other things vying for my limited gaming time.
Now try not to take this the wrong way. But you sure it's not your connection? I play on 700kb/s and I don't get lagg (unless it's HEAVY) and I don't get dced unless I'm afk.

Good for you. You can advance to another topic. For the rest of us...
I switched mine to the EU proxy, despite living in California. After doing so, I closed the launcher and reloaded it. It literally fixed 99% of the lag/rubberbanding/SNR/disconnect etc. I have only had 1 momentary SNR in the last 90 minutes since doing so. It may work for others too.
