I would not mind seeing them keep ging wth the breen giving us the dreadnaught, but i would like if they kept the old design, but also gave us access to a new redone design that you can use to make a mixed ship look, or go fully old-school or new-school in design look. It is one of the thigns i find i dislike about the non-faction ships is that they have largely one design look, with no parts to change an make a more unique design like with faction ships, if they started to sell or add projects (R&D projects, event projects, rep projects) that would give us access to parts to outfit some of the classes of our ships with it would be nice. Imagine being able to slot projects in the winter event that allow you to use parts of the old Sar-thein model with the new ones to either to make a kitbash or use the model you prefered. This would also suit both groups that prefer a newer model, or a more canon design, along with those that just want to make something more unique to fly as well.
I wish the Sarr Theln gave us a choice of either hull. Especially as the NPC ship still uses the old one.

The Breen Rezreth Dreadnought is the only Breen ship left, so it’s only logical we get to see it this winter, what ship am I talking about?

That awesome ship can become the biggest playable ship in-game, and it’s also one of the largest ships, the 6th largest ship surpassed only by the Voth capital ship, the Voth citadel, the Borg unimatrix, the borg Cube and the Tholian tarantula.
My theory is if we don't get the breen ship, (that is a possibility, they also changed Risian ships to ferengi, but i wouldn't count on a new ferengi either) I would say Tholian Tarantula, as the tholians are back to the story now, and I would see this as a logical/easy(?) choice. Well at least that what I think.
The Rezreth has more or less already been confirmed due to its inclusion in the Admiralty system, although its stats imply it will be more Engineering focused than the OP was hoping for.

We're getting a breen dreadnought cruiser, that's for sure. The admirality card already leaked into the game and can be rewarded as one of those 1-time-use bonus cards, already got it on one of my characters myself. There was a thread about it a few days ago, with screenshots, stats etc.
Though it is still unknown what it will look like because instead of a picture of the ship the card just has white space.
I guess it will get the same treatment as the breen carrier and get complete new model for the playable version.
I've created this thread 3 months ago (and a similar one last year), to ask for the Breen Rezreth for this Winter's event, we all know that the dreadnought is pretty much confirmed, since this is a first page result when you google "Breen Rezreth", I'll be editing the main post to turn this into a discussion.

Those of you that already have a winter ship project in progress from a previous year’s event WILL NOT lose any progress, and can simply finish that project either with your existing Autographs, or with the new currency when it arrives.
Can I slot a new project for previous Winter Ships?
No. These ships are being retired with the start of the 2015 Winter Event.
What if I don't finish a Winter Reputation project?
All in-progress Winter Reputation projects will be removed before the subsequent year arrives.
Which means you can only get previously offered starships if you had the project slotted but unfinished, this winter only.

They could still top that by giving the new ship a set item that only works with now unavailable items from the older ships. It can always get worse.
What I'm curious is the timing of our "you build it" carrier. I'm thinking that the development time would put is release around December (just a guess), but it can't be the winter ship because it's not cross faction. So are we going to have two new ships available around the same time? Will the carrier get shelved until after the winter event?
Going by the Risa event, it's more likely they'll just remove the T5U Breen ships, maybe even the Sarr Theln, because exclusivity, and introduce something else that completes some other set.
If anything, I can't stand Ferengi or Breen ships because of the way they look, and only ever consider whether their traits truly have something to offer on top of already existing ones.
The only ship I ever really cared about was the Corvette, which they took away without notice and without a chance to slot it.

It did give the impression, if you read between the lines, that all future events that give ships will retire the old ships and only offer the new ship, and that's what's happening.
I didn't think I would care for the Nandi, but after using it for a while, I find I like it's spider-like look.
I am quite interested in seeing what the Dev's come up with next.

The Sarr Theln is the only T6 Carrier that the majority of players could realistically get and still holds up well for today's game.
Not to mention some guys will want to complete the full Breen Console Set. Veteran players would go around with the new Breen Ship and the Full Bells & Whistles from the previous stuff. Newer players will never be able to get that.

The Design "Contest" ship will probably be a C-Store ship, so it doesn't really interfere.
If it's supposed to be an event-type ship, I guess it won't come in December then, however.
But I think there are actually still more steps to the contest, and thus we won't see the ship in December, since the contest isn't over yet.

It's basically the other side of the coin of giving lapsed or new players incentives like free ships or special events like Delta Recruitment to come back to the game. Sure, you might get your great Andromeda or Intrepid, and maybe it's the ideal ship for you, or maybe it's not. But... You don't get the Corvette or the Chell Grett. You weren't there. There are rewards for playing the game, too.

I agree it's not a bad thing for long time players to have rewards that newer players don't, except when those newer players are essentially penalized for not having those rewards. The Samsar is a prime example of this. Had the ship's console not been part of the 4 piece command set then you would have no issues with the ship being an exclusive thing to the people that made it through the event. It's not the first time stuff like this has happened and it's getting to be a problem.

With the exception of the Dyson Science Destroyer none of the other ships are unobtainable or will be unobtainable. This means that if someone picks up a D'kora they will not be able to complete the 2 piece set. If they get the 3 command cruisers, they will not be able to complete the command set. Had the Dyson Science Destroyer not been added to the lobi store and made an account wide unlock, you could not complete the Solanae set. It's a problem that needs to be addressed.
Now in the case of the original Odyssey and the account wide Ambassador, both of these ships are not an issue. Neither of those ships have consoles or items that are a part of other sets. If you don't have the original Odyssey or Ambassador you're not penalized for it as you are with the other ships I named. If you want to start building the Solanae set, had the Dyson Science Ship not been added to the lobi store then the rest of that set would be unobtainable.
That's several sets of gear that new players will never be able to complete no matter how hard they try. Now I'm all for having exclusive stuff provided it doesn't penalize other players who don't have it. Removing the Breen ships, Nandi, and Samsar with no way to get them later on penalizes all the new players and veterans alike who didn't get them. This is setting a very very bad precedent. Not only that but the command ships are sold in the cstore under the assumption that the 4 piece set can be completed and it's not. I'm not gonna say that's false advertising but it sure as heck doesn't look good.
