None. Crashed 5 times in 5 years. Try reducing your graphics levels or switching to DX9. DX11 is known to be problematic.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
do what i do. just dont log back in and play something else. am fed up with this game all i do is doff for abit cus when i try to play 90% of the time it crashes and its always on map or charater changes
I play on DX11. I only rarely crash when I alt+enter to exit fullscreen and look something up on the internet (I use the wiki a lot). The game doesn't like going from fullscreen to minimized sometimes. Normally it's pretty stable and it probably wouldn't crash at all if I wasn't TRIBBLE around with it.
Four in the space of four hours.
I can as yet not identify a reason for this, DivX is fine, graphics are down. It can happen when im stood idle on ESD or (especially recently) during CCA and other PVE's, but especially CCA.
I experience one of two different crashes. One is a complete exit to desktop with the Cryptic error program popping up right away.
The other is a total freezing of the game which requires me to manually close and restart. Often the Cryptic error program will start after this but not all the time.
The complete crash to desktop has happened for me prettymuch since LOR, and has been more or less recurrant depending on the season and patch. The freezing of the game is a more recent ocurrance and far more prolific (for me), given the current event.
Just a random observation (could mean nothing), that often this happens during a torpedo spread sound effect and I get that on an endless loop until I manually close via program manager.
I have also noticed that after these "freeze-crashes", upon logging back in I can often not join a queue from the map I was in previously until I change maps. I am given the message "You cannot join queues from this map" or something to that effect.
Advice would be appreciated as for the first time since I started playing the crashing is becoming genuinely irksome.
"If this will be our end, then I will have them make SUCH an end as to be worthy of rememberance! Out of torpedos you say?! Find me the ferengi!".
Yeah, I'm not discounting anyones issues or saying they aren't happening. It just luckily doesn't happen to me.
I do remember playing that Breen Mission 'Out in the Cold' when I was leveling my Delta Recruit, that mission is a complete crash fest. I think I crashed at least 20 times on that mission. Other then that, crashes are pretty rare on STO, I'll see some lag spikes and general network stuff, but the game itself is stable.
I've tried everything. Using DX9, minimize graph settings, sto client doesnt give a TRIBBLE, its just crashez. I didnt have any problems a couple of patches ago. It started about before the previous dilithium event, i think in May. After that, crash after crash. And i dont have problems with other games or applications. Only this....
I used to only crash after playing a very long time and usually only during a very intensive red alert. Since the most recent patch, I now seem to frequently freeze during loading screens.
...And now I can't connect to the server. Go figure. : /
Had a few more crashes during ground combat, can apparently fly around all day with no issues but half way through a ground mission the sound loops and it all just dies. Never had a crash before this week in STO.
Only twice today, but only played about 30 minutes .
I can rarely do BHE or a Borg ground STF anymore , as I get booted from the team by the time I manage to get back in .
Thanks best expansion ever, you are truly memorable .
This crash bug is getting very annoying. So I just crashed on a map change into a PvP match. Now the server timeout happens every time I try to log in. Guess I'll have to wait until the PvP match is done. It's just that toon because I can log in with my other 6 in the same account.
I give up. Had my PvP toon stuck in connection timeout purgatory (Tried safe and normal logins) until the PvP match ended. Tried to join another PvP match, it got stuck again in connection timeout purgatory. I thought, hey, let me try to play my PvE toon. So he's close to a spec point and I tried to fly to the Undine space battlezone to grab a bunch of good doff assignments. On the map change there a disconnect, and this one impossible to get out of, so that toon is now completely unusable and stuck in connection timeout purgatory forever. Hoping at least a dev can move it so it logs into ESD or somewhere safe so I can log in again.
Please fix!!!!
Warning: If you're running into this problem, stay away from the Undine space battlezone.
Just wanted to point out that from reading this thread it seemed to me that there were three types of crashes:
Crashes between maps
Time outs at the beginning of a mission / task
Crashes mid mission (my thing)
Do you think these things related ?
Or a specific type of graphics card related ? (I'm on a nVidia card 4 example)
All I know is that while I am a bit lacking in memory , missions that I had no problems with before (Borg ground STF's) are sending me to crashville (mid mission freeze & crash) , and the newer ground mission BHE that at one time I had no problem with also has been giving me the finger for the last month or more , to a point that I no longer can consider myself a reliable team member (which sucks) .
None today, but only did CCA event and some Doff Event, plus one FE.
Don't think I've had a single crash this week or last either, so luckily I still consider CTD very rare on my end, however given the amount of people who do crash, I hope this gets priority in bug fixes.
About the DX9 workaround, I just want to point out that DX11 looks so much better, the character faces don't look like pixelated blobs, and I see evidence of tesselation. If DX is still responsible for crashes, it better be priority-fixed already as going back down to DX9 is NOT acceptable. Also, there's a bug where after a few toon-hops, the character faces revert back to the pixelated Dx9 mode. The only fix for that is to restart the game and not toon-hop if you want to, you know, role play in this mmorpg.
2 crashes today: disconnected from server; and unable to login again without closing the launcher. 1 during a map transfer (kobali warzone, 1 during gateway to grethor

I can't remember the last time STO crashed on me on either my PC or my Laptop.

All 3 during ground missions but I have yet to dive into the settings to see if graphics changes could make a difference.

The most common thing I see in STO today:
Followed by being sent back to the login screen.
