It's a free to play game. You can get everything in the game for free if you work at it. Everyone likes to think that all these things are bought for real money. But the reality is that a large number of them are bought by people that have put the time and effort in to build up their dil, zen and EC balances for free.
While you may not have paid real money for it, doesn't mean that no one did. These packs can only be bought with Zen initially, you or someone else may pay EC for the pack that unlocks one of these, but they all come from a C-Store purchase being sold by another player. All Zen comes from real money, whether directly or via having Zen stipend from a being a Gold member of some sort (keep in mind that a 'Lifetime' sub costs about $200, while on sale).
Are you new to the game? No. All zen does NOT come from real money. There's this thing called the dilithium exchange where you can convert your free dil into zen. A lot of the "rich" guys that have been playing the game for a long time have stockpiles of dil that they use to convert to zen, buy keys etc, open lockboxes and then sell those ships etc. I didn't say everyone did this, I said a good portion of them do it. The reality is that almost everything in the game (aside from some of the lobi items), can be purchased in this manner. All for free.
No, not new here... look at post count for Q's sake. Where do you think that Zen you're buying on the Dil exchange come from, hmm? It comes from people that have paid or gotten Cryptic paid, with direct purchases, subscriber reward, or via doing 'surveys' or 'promotions' that have the provider pay Cryptic. It doesn't matter that one can personally buy near anything for entirely in game monies, but this stuff doesn't doesn't drop in game, it comes from people paying in money, one way or another. While I too have gotten a lot of stuff, including lockbox and lobi ships, for merely grinding up space monies, these things don't come from stuff dropping in queues and the like, they come from people paying money into the game.
At 1 billion, they can keep the ship. Too bad because it seems they finally seem to have designed a good sci ship that works for science. Hasn't happened since the Voth Palisade.
I have a feeling that were going to at least get a taste of that ship in one of the feature episodes, perhaps the next one. I want to know if the Krenim Heavy Raider can be equipted on any ship with a hanger bay.
Where do you think that Zen you're buying on the Dil exchange come from, hmm?
The vast majority of the Zen people get, either for free or by purchasing it, goes towards buying things which takes it completely out of the system. As a gold member myself, that stipend I've been getting has gone towards services. The only way for new Zen to make it onto the exchange is for some people to buy it in order to get dil, or, cryptic takes some of the removed Zen and puts it back into the system in order to keep the economy healthy just like governments that keep printing money. The question becomes, do you really believe there are so many people buying zen to simply purchase dil that it offsets how much is removed from the system every day. I'm not expecting an answer as it doesn't really matter.
Really glad its not a free ship, every free featured episode ship they have released has been terrible. Odyssey, Ambassador, Obelisk, think that's all of them. Atleast now the ship actually has a chance of being something worth flying.
The Ambassador is not terrible. That is my main ship I use and love it. Even the KDF Kamarag is a good ship. My KDF uses it at times. But everyone has their opinions.
My main fed cruiser is still a T5U Fleet Ambassador, and KDF side one of my toons is Rocking a T5U Fleet Kamarang.
I'd love to see a T6 Kamarang, but something new for a Fed Support Cruiser.
Thanks for the Advanced Light Cruiser, Allied Escort Bundles, Jem-Hadar Light Battlecruiser, and Mek'leth

I see no mention of a 5-piece Temporal Set, though. Where are ppl getting that from?!
Paragraph 9
"This ship can equip either of the Consoles found on the Krenim and Zahl ships recently introduced by the Year of Hell Lock Box, and as an added bonus, the Krenim Annorax Science Dreadnought can also equip the Tipler Cylinder and the Manheim Device. These universal consoles are found on the Temporal Science Vessels and Temporal Destroyers from the Temporal Lockbox and Lobi Store."

Being able to equip all 5 doesn't mean there's a 5 piece set though.

ALL Zen on the DilEx was bought by someone for $$$.
You think so? Ok, I give up. Carry on then... lol
How can you not know this (and you are asking other if they are new here)? Where do you think the exchange Zen comes from? The tooth fairy? People buy Zen then sell it for Dil. Hell you can follow the market fluctuations around sales and item announcements.

Are YOU new? Because all that zen on the exchange you so freely buy with dil, was bought with real MONEY.
People with lots of money and little time, buy zen (with real money) and sell for dil. Which is what upgrades practically everything in the game.
People with less money but more time, grind Dil, and sell for zen.
That's how the economy works.
There is no magic zen doff mission or something that shoots zen out of its TRIBBLE.
Come on, it wouldn't be the first endgame ship (Nandi and the Breen Carrier are just the Tier 6 examples, before that we had the Breen Raider, Breen Cruiser, the Risan Corvette, the Risan Carrier. Heck. And a few non-fleet equivalent tier 5 ships, too, like the Oddy or the Dyson Destroyer) you could get for free/grinding.
Every ship will have some kind of acquisition scheme that somehow benefits Cryptic in the end - be it by making people log in regularly to "grind" the item, or by acquiring it from the C-Store, or by lockboxes and promos.
You can never be sure what it will be beforehand.

Well, you either buy Zen directly, or you get it via a Stipend. A few select people might also earn Zen by winning a contest or something like that. But pretty much all Zen that finds its way to the Diltihium Exchange was at some point acquired by giving money to Cryptic. Of course, it's possibly someone uses the exchange to acquire Zen and later sell the Zen again for dilithium - but the Zen still originally is only there because someone spend money for it.

This is true but ZEN also has less than full cash value because of ZEN sales, bulk bonuses, and various product promotions. Not all ZEN is created equal. I don't know if they can or have an interest in tracking ZEN by its origin but I'm sure that, having the numbers on this, Cryptic can estimate the real cash value (which relies somewhat on assumptions about whether and how many lifers will be active, a lifer account that never touched a stipend that suddenly came back now would dump $240 in the economy. Not a lot of that happening, I imagine but I wouldn't be surprised if they had several thousand inactive lifer accounts that would have a big impact if they all came back at once.
And I imagine whether they use GAAP or China GAAP, they'd have had to deal with stuff over a year old on their books in a way that would get messy if that came back up. From a PR standpoint, they don't want to tell people stipend points expire. But they probably do have to represent that somewhere on books, if only internal books. NOTE: I am not saying that points expire. I'm saying that I'd imagine that Cryptic probably has to assume a portion are unspent and would have to re-account for those if they got spent.
If $240k worth of inactive account stipend points materialized, it'd probably be a headache for somebody. And I bet there are 1000 lifer accounts out there with stipend balances that have never been touched.

The closest you get is something akin to "cheap zen" - if someone bought a LTS at release and gets Zen via stipend now this Zen was theoretically "cheaper" than Zen bought directly today. No difference to the system itself, though.

Here's the comment. From a quick Q&A. People were asking her questions after she announced the Section 31 uniform was free today. They asked her if there was a ship. She said not in this giveaway... But soon. And then she made the two comments in the screenshot.
