STO Crashing when Changing Characters and Warping In/Out

I'm having several crashes a day on STO. When I change characters about 20% of the time the game crashes and the cryptic error handler box comes up. Not as frequently when I Warp in/out of a system the game will crash same as above. Other than those 2 issues the game is working well for me, no lag issues so far (jinxing myself here). Here's as much info as I can think of about my system and how the game is setup:
-I'm running an MSI Ghost GS60 gaming laptop with i7, Nvidia 970M (6GB), 4K screen (3840x2160) Win 8.1 and 16GB RAM.
-STO is run in a maximized Window at the 4K res on a 28" 4K monitor when I'm at home, on the 15.6" laptop screen when I'm on the road.
-Graphics settings are on high with antialiasing turned down to 2X
-Nvidia drivers are the latest (June 2015) according to my NVidia software manager.
-Bitdefender AV, Teamspeak, Ventrillio, and Chrome Browser are usually running when I play STO.
-Cable Internet with 50/5 megabits service.
