Eight: *over comm* Well everyone is dead and stuff is frozen and the reactors seem to have been manually shut down probably by the crew and possibly to stop something.
Valak: I have a sneaking suspicion that isn't quite what happened.. The evidence here suggests that some kind of overload happened.. but did not compromise the ship itself..
Eight: At the very least we should investigate a little more.
Ryan: Lieutenant, the freezing could have been the result of loss of power. Without power to life support, environmental control would have failed and temperatures would have dropped.

I suppose it's possible. If the crew tried to make up the difference in required power from the Warp Core by using Main Power, that would have definitely done the trick, but why would the crew even try to activate a transwarp drive? What would make them feel they needed to take that risk?
*The Khitomer team reaches the tube entry to the upper deck and finds more debris.. as if the place was rocked by something.. *
Kara: *Her head is slightly pounding.. with pressure..* Something isn't right here..

Kara: My group is heading to the bridge.. so far all we are finding is this icy soot and debris.. no bodies..

*They pry the portal open and see more of the same.. when they exit the portal they catch a glimpse of their first corpse.. completely icy and crystalline in a crimson red uniform and dark pants.*
Valak: Khitomer team.. to ship.. and away teams.. found the first casualty.. a Lt..
Kara: Going ahead to the bridge..
*As they progress further and force the door to the bridge, they see the mess.. *

Eight: I don't think the distress call is coming from the ship I think it might be coming from something on the ship. *He follows them with his Tr-116 at the ready.
*The bridge crew is iced into their chairs ice crystals protruding from them as well.. The Captain himself is the biggest ice crystal.. the hair can barely be made out in the light.. his arms crystal shards all over.. *
Kara: Its like these people experienced a massive hull breach and just froze in place.. It doesn't make sense. Valak can you detect a breach..?

Eight *over comm*: I'm pretty sure that's a bad idea. If they did shut it down themselves there was a good reason for it. And I think we might have found the aftermath of it. *looks at the mess*
Irons: go over that Intel file and send me a report when complete.
He turns as Cole comes up on the view screen.
Cole: well we arrived at the border and so far nothing. You sure this is the right location.
Irons: give them a little more time.
Cole: I'll give them a day. Then the Springfield is being sent to the Klingon border to patrol.
Irons: alright keep in touch.
Kara: Go ahead Ryan.. but get up here when you get the chance. We will look around.. see if we can locate more of the crew.
Eight: *over comm* Hey again I'm like 95% sure that is a bad idea.
Valak: Reasoning for that?
Eight: *over comm* Well everyone is dead and stuff is frozen and the reactors seem to have been manually shut down probably by the crew and possibly to stop something.
Valak: I have a sneaking suspicion that isn't quite what happened.. The evidence here suggests that some kind of overload happened.. but did not compromise the ship itself..
Eight: At the very least we should investigate a little more.
Ryan: Lieutenant, the freezing could have been the result of loss of power. Without power to life support, environmental control would have failed and temperatures would have dropped.
Tala: That still doesn't explain why the crew would shut down main power.
Ryan: We don't know they did. All we know is they could have. As Dannover said, it could have been a computer malfunction or a system overload. We don't have enough information.
Varenn: Sir, with your permission, I'll head up to the Bridge. If I can examine the body Team 1 found, I may be able to shed some light on this.
Ryan: Alright. Take one of the Security Officers with you.
*Varenn nods before heading to the Bridge with her escort.*
Let's hold off on the restart until we hear from her.
Dannover: Understood.
*Ryan walks around the room, thinking.*
Ryan: You said the Main Power system could only overload if the ship suddenly gained another major system...
Dannover: Yes?
Ryan: Could a transwarp drive do it?
*He turns to face her.*
The Enterprise was the first of a series of updated Excelsiors. What if something was overlooked?
Dannover: Like SCE including a Transwarp Drive in the schematics that the ship simply wasn't designed to run?
*She thinks, looking around the century-old architecture.*
I suppose it's possible. If the crew tried to make up the difference in required power from the Warp Core by using Main Power, that would have definitely done the trick, but why would the crew even try to activate a transwarp drive? What would make them feel they needed to take that risk?
Ryan: I don't know.
All we have so far is speculation, but it fits.

Eight: Hmmm would it be possible to hook up a power source and access the computer without turning everything on?
Chris: *Catching a glimpse of something out of place..* That set of machinery in engineering is that a inoperable trans-warp drive.
Ross: Yeah.. Odd they would have that still there... I thought they would have removed it or worked it out.
Icheduji: Well engineers back then did not do that.. call it a sort of defect.. Only way I can explain it.

*Over the Comm* Kara: Captain we are bringing a corpse over to a cargo bay.. We need a doctor and crew to analyze the data we see in there..
Chris: Yes but follow quarantine procedures..
Kara: Of course sir..
Chris: Ensign Valak see if you can get a sample of the ice..
Valak: Aye sir..
*On the Ship.. *
Kara: Lieutenant we are taking the corpse over to the Khitomer for autopsy and analysis of the material.. If you want to send someone go ahead..
*She heads back to the transporter room.. as Valak hands her a sample taken from the Captain's pillar.. *
*Not long later Ryan comes into the bridge and sees it for himself.. *
Ryan: My God...
*Varenn looks over the body.*
Varenn: Pale skin... no decomposition... frost... All consistent with exposure to vacuum and environmental failure.
Ryan: Something doesn't add up...
Varenn: Sir?
Ryan: I know it's been 100 years, but there's this frost everywhere. Even with environmental failure, the temperature shouldn't have fallen to background levels this quickly. Unless the interior was exposed to space at some point.

Eight: Maybe there's a breach somewhere we didn't see.
T'Val: how much longer till they are done.
Officer: last received report said only a few more hours.
T'Val: good we are heading to rator once this is over. I'm going to make my objections to this very clear. To command and the senate.
Voria: not to question you but isn't that dangerous. The tal shiar won't appreciate that at all.
T'Val: none of which concerns me currently. They are getting out of hand and its time someone said something.
Valak: Sir.. If you wish to find out more from the corpse the engineering teams will be combing through trying to find some kind of inconsistency..
*In the cargo bay, the equipment is set up and the room now following quarantine procedures.. as the corpse is now in the bio bed.. with Science department and Medical combing over it.. with scans.*
Kara: Odd.. even in the different tempature of this bay the crystalline structure is not receding..
Doctor Pim: Based on the scans here this body is encased in something else..
Kara: The string of molecules there is odd about it.. I can't get a signature or even a solid scan off..
Valak: *Looking at the Captain's head and the teams arrive on the bridge..* I am going to see if I can find out what this is.. I am heading back..
*Chris and 9 of 10 are now on the bridge.. both are looking around..*
Chris: To be on this ship.. Childhood dream accomplished.. aside from that we found something odd.. on the scans.. it was right here..
*Pointing to the pillar of the captain and the bulkhead above them..*
Eight: Yeah I still feel like something bad is going to happen.
Chris: Makes about 90 percent of us..
Ryan: What did we find?
Varenn: For a start, whatever the corpses are encased in, it's not ice. Even in higher temperatures, there's no change in the structure.
Ryan: So what happened to the crew may not have been the result of Life Support failure.
Varenn: Possibly, but that still doesn't explain the failure of Main Power.
*Meanwhile, in the Main Power Plant, Dannover and Tala are working with an Engineering team to restart the fusion reactors.*
Engineer: Alright, the magnetic accelerator is as stable as we're going to get it. We're ready to initialise, ensign.
Dannover: Understood. Dannover to Allington, we're ready to give this a shot, sir.
Ryan *Over Comm*: Alright, stand by.
*Bridge.*
Captain, I suggest having all three of our vessels prepare for an emergency transport, just in case.

Eight: That sounds like a good idea. *sets up a transporter amplifyer thingy.(one of the pole things*
*On the way to the ship Valak hears a noise come from one of the rooms.. *
Valak: Hmm.. What was that...
*He doesn't hear it again and proceeds back to the ship.. *
*An hour later he is back in the lab as science personnel are combing over the body and the sample..Valak is handling it.. Kara and the main personnel are not present as they are trying to find a way to break through the strange effect the scanners are having.. There is a creak.. that has him look around.. leaving the shard in the examination table box.. He sees nothing.. He returns to work..*
Valak: This is not ice or another kind of liquid that is organic.. *he grips it in the gloves of the box.. *
*The large crashing noise behind him and he is grabbed by the body.. Valak feels himself yanked out by the head.. He grabs the body by the head but soon he is rushed with random noise that soon overwhelms his Vulcan Mind.. He can't understand them.. Soon the crystal spikes are soon popping through onto his head along with the grey as if it is transfering... like a liquid metal like substance.. He does not feel anything anymore.. Just a need to go back...*
*When the ship is turned on the ship hums to life... the need is greater and he and the body are compelled to leave.. As if the ship is under attack.. *
*Back on the Enterprise B..*
Chris: Looks like the ship has power now.. We might be able to find some answers..
*Over the comm..*
Shelana: Captain.. We have a problem.. the body is moving and there is something wrong with Valak.. we have about 12 dead trying to stop them..
Chris: Are they attacking the ship?
Shelana: No they are heading to a air lock..
Chris: Is Valak nuts..
Eight: *facepalms* I believe I specifically said this was a bad idea.
Ryan: Yes, but for completely unrelated reasons.
Dannover *Over Comm*: Captain, I think I've figured it out! I've been listening in and I know what happened to the ship!
Ryan: Go ahead, ensign.
Dannover *Over Comm*: Like Varenn said, this isn't frost or ice. Maybe it's a life form. A life form which cannot survive in high temperature environments - which thrives in the super-low interstellar temperature range.
Ryan: So it got caught on the Enterprise, inhabited the crew and terminated whatever was generating heat.
Dannover *Over Comm*: Exactly!
Ryan: Okay, now we know that...
Allington to all teams, you have 2 minutes to re-seal your EV suits! Dannover, I want you to shut main power off again and vent all atmosphere!
*After 2 minutes, the lights go dark again as the ship's newly-restored atmosphere is vented out into space, along with the heat.*

Alright, people, if that failed we're about to have company any second now. Ensign Tr'zanac, hand out phaser rifles! Cleveland, I want you to prepare to beam everybody out and lock a photon torpedo onto this vessel! Fire only on my order!
