look, I know many wont be able to wrap their head around this concept... but
you know how in pve pug cues... folks kind of avoid them on account of all the TRIBBLE 1k boats.. that fail objectives..etc right?
well same is for pvp pug cues... TRIBBLE that do everything broken you have complained about for ages packed wall to wall
so the pve kids figured to make private matches... to side step the horrible guidance that cryptic does for fresh players, folks that build jacked ships... not their fault really when you think about it, good lord I can honestly say I have had to learn about 90% of star trek online ... without being IN star trek online LOL!!! truth
anyways, same really goes for pvp at this point, private cues... private matches..
no reason you cant find a handful of people online that wana play the pvp match with the same set of rules that you want..
then find a few more, IF you think your rules are as fair and even handed as it gets.. then there should be no problem finding folks in game with (as most pvpers totally agree with what is op/broken/cheese for the most part) THE exact same feelings..
I don't know, beats trying to get cryptic to do anything for pvp (we know they wont) beats complaining about the reality of the game daily, beats logging in and hitting the pug cues to see junk match after junk match...
you have always had the power to improve your gameplay as well as your enjoyment of the game everyday, its right there..
silly pve guys get it
why cant the pvp folks get it..
P R I V A T E C U E S
what? cant make new friends?
cause you know just as well as I do, what your going to see from cryptic towards pvp over the next month, next 6 months, next year, 2 years from now etc etc
so with knowing that, WITH KNOWING THAT AS REAL AS sky is blue, water is wet... instead of complaining about it, wanting some magic wand that will never happen make it all better...
why not take a little responsibility for your own entertainment needs and go do something about it, make some new friends, do some private matches..
so few pvpers left now, but doesn't mean you cant find folks to honestly have a great laugh with, a solid match with, and who knows?
perhaps with a bit of effort... it might snowball into something bigger;)
anyways, best of luck to all pvpers going forward-
my hopes and dreams go with you:)
>
pro tip concluded,
you are now all free to commence with the "doom" you have been sucking the TRIBBLE at for over 4 years now;P

On the same computer, STO at low-medium settings in PvP or PvE or any place that involves uber fireworks LAGS. And no, I'm not referring to server rubberbanding. No. So many clickety click, lens flaring, eye disturbing stuff going on that puts the GPU to the knees. You know what? SSOA actually kills FPS especially on ground maps.
While Tomb Raider 2013 runs fine. I'm going to say that STO has some tremendous issues with the code itself. With such a bad performance comparison I don't even wanna know the details to be honest.
Still PvP mechanics are broken, something really fishy is going on with the game itself and, on top of that, connection rubberbanding kicks in as icing on the cake. There's a reason if Steam reviews about STO are so bad.

Keep inventing. Do like I did with a fair bit of heavy delay compared to many others.

Get over with this dude, you need to let the addiction goes, as we all did. It was a fun ride, but everything have an end. If you made some friends, try to move with them to another game, there is nothing left to do here, they will keep squeezing every penny and reducing personal until is no longer profitable to keep the servers online.
Not even the forum remains, this abomination of user experience a web design is even worst than the previous

There is one thing that has not been tried:
A VPVP like experience / standards , but with T1 ships (possibly following up with a T2 and T3 ships) .
Then delete the toon & start over .
I know you & many others have thrown in the towel, but in theory at least, it sounds good .
I'm sad to hear that ... -- both from a standpoint of it's failure and from a standpoint that it happened , as I had no idea that it was happening .
My reference to a "VPVP like experience / standards" regarding a T1 ship PVP was because I was very impressed with the "taking the time to get things right" approach that 'voporak' applied ... -- meaning that it was not done with a "hey , let's declare victory / defeat and then move on because I had a brain TRIBBLE" mentality like many of the PVP tournaments had been done in the past , but a genuine "take a small idea and take the time (with input & aid from others) and watch it grow " -- more akin to the PVP Bootcamp , which took its time to set things up , and no less importantly it was ADVERTIZED across multiple forum platforms (general forums , Reddit) ahead of time and ... as a personal experience , while I was unable to attend the original Bootcamps , I did have the pleasure of having Bootcamp graduates start small 'courses' in my own fleet back in the day .
Hmmm ... , well without insulting the good intention of others (and I do see the positive thing with the new slot and all) , IMHO that sounds like a terrible time to start something like this ... , as frankly it's akin to doing something like that this weekend (Bonus XP weekend) , when it's quite obvious that ppl will be working on their XP for Spec points .
Which brings me back again (and again) to the disheartened feelings of many fine folk here who at the time supported VPVP , Bootcamp and other efforts .
The last thing I read from 'Voporak' regarding VPVP was that it was impossible to maintain an equality among players due to the Spec system that could not be turned off .
And he was right about that .
But as I look at this quote from him ... :
... I can't help but feel that we let Cryptic roll us over too quickly .
I disagreed with PVP-ers who said for years that Cryptic can't afford to loose the PVP base based on how much (some of us) spend ... -- I disagreed with that because I always believed that true PVP is based on skill first ... , even as in reality I was outmatched by gear on more than one occasion .
And like 'Voporak' I believe that the underlying mechanics of STO are amazing for PVP when all the players are on more or less equal footing ... , which is why I think that PVP's last 'hurah' should be in T1 ships and it should be by the fans and not some Cryptic powercreep deluge that leaves bleeding hearts all over the place ... -- which is why I'm ultimatly saddened that 'Voporak' or someone like him does not pick up the challange of creating what I see as (to quote Babylon 5) :
"a last best hope , for victory !" .
