the desire for more t6 ships is understandable, but the desire to have existing ships resold to you at a higher tier is not.
But thankfully, that's not something Cryptic does.
Every Tier 6 ship based on a lower tier ship so far did also come with a new model.
You can argue a price point of 3,000 Zen for a new model is a bit high, compared to what it cost back in the old days when the game wasn't F2P... but do we really want that game back? All the old bugs, lots of content removed?
The only ones that might want that are PvPers, because a lot of the later power creep and extra consoles and what not caused big problems for PvP. But they should probably be careful what they wish for - the choice of endgame options was minimal back then...
Any way. You buy a new ship - that allows you to use parts from older ships.
You loved the old look? You can use it again.
You want to kitbash? Kitbash away!
Love the new model? Keep it!

I like to adress that, since ironically, F2P removed content, P2P didn't do that. We didn't get much content back in the day, though it would be shallow to blame it on the P2P model, we all know that Atari had massive troubles back then and Cryptic suffered as a consequence, that explains the content drought.
Reversing the system back to P2P would not by any stretch mean that there won't be new content, arguing this way is a fallacy. And in contrary, Exploration, Diplomacy, Terradrome, long STFs is what got removed in F2P times.
I'm not a PvPer, but I do wish we were back in P2P - so you could actually play the game and earn new ships and not "work" and buy what you want from stores. I'd rather play than go window shopping, but maybe that's just me...

The Exeter, Vesper ect... Are all variants of the Constitution, yes they are different versions of the light cruiser but "light cruiser" is the same as the term "Exploration cruiser" it's an umbrella term to refer to a ship and variants thereof just like the term "exploration cruiser" applies to all Galaxy class variants like the venture and whatnot, so all the light cruiser variants are included.
And for the distinction between the TOS constitution and the more modern constitution well..
They are both Constitution class starships and the light cruiser variants are all variants of that vessel and by creating an endgame version they would be violating their agreement with CBS, so you see a tier 6 Constitution is extremely unlikely unless CBS suddenly changes their minds.
Why would they be violating their agreement if they were to make an endgame ship that use only Exeter, Vesper, and/or Excalibur variants?

This is something that nobody elaborated on, ever. Simple reason is "No".

Because the Exeter and the Vesper and the Excalibur are ALL variants of the Constitution class.
I'll quote again form the FCT
"This also means that any version of the ship will not be available as an End game ship."
Emphasis on the word "any" that includes all Variants of the Constitution, the Exeter, Vesper, Excalibur are all variants of that ship hence they will will not have end game versions.
I think he was pointing out the number three Flash rather than being condescending. Isnt there something about the Cardassians having a ritual about having things in sets of three?
There are FOUR lights!!!
That was the reference. When Picard was being tortured, he was supposed to give the response that there were THREE lights, when there were in reality four.
They make a wondrous mess of things. Brave amateurs, they do their part.

I take that as referring to the TOS Constitution TOS ship and the Cruiser's Constitution (Movie) Variant. Exeter, Vesper, and Excalibur are varaints of Cruiser but not of *Constitution*. Why is it hard to conceptualize that they doesn't want only the models of Constitution; the TOS and the Movie Refit amd that this doesn't apply to Vesper, Exeter, and Excalibur? Excalibur itself has been said that it has been inspired by the Excelsior as well. Should the other federation ship designs that resemble the saucer, secondary body, and naccelle arrangements of Connie be taken away from T5/T6?

The Exeter, Vesper, Excalibur are all variants of the Constitution so it does apply to them, they all closely resemble the Constitution just as the Variant of other ships resemble their original counterparts, the Venture resembles the Galaxy as it is a variant of the Galaxy, the Valiant resembles the Defiant as it is a variant of the Defiant ect...
CBS have made it clear there is to be no variant of the Constitution at end game and that applies to design variants, you can take the FCT how you want but that doesn't change it's meaning.
There have been multiple threads on alternate Constitution designs for endgame like a Tier 5 Exeter and they have been rejected and closed because it has been denied by CBS and they have made it clear they do not want an endgame constitution whether it be the original model or a variant thereof, there will be no Endgame Light Cruiser variant.
You mean Cruiser, unless you also mean to include Light Cruiser (Miranda, Centaur, and ShiKahr) with it?

I would love something along the lines of like the Exeter class. I would love to have a traditional Connie with a 1960’s kind of bussard collector on the nacelles, something that is really big and powerful, like if you gave the regular constitution class a "grow mushroom" from Mario Bros and it just got big and super OP. I would love that but it’s not going to happen. There will not be a T5 Connie.
Clarification, doesn't that imply the Constitution is separated from the E/V/E variants when they talk about that there will not be a T5 Connie?
My number one choices, the GCS and the D'D, have already had the required attention paid to them (yay!), so...
Might have to go with T6 Gorn Varanus and Vo'Quv because the KDF needs science ships and carriers (thinking Command for the Vo'Quv and Intel for the Varanus), and maybe a T6 Pilot or Intel Ar'Kif for the Roms.

just as they defined competitive at end-game as "able to complete with optionals" rather than anything sensibly consistent.

My understanding - whether I may agree with it or not:
Any ship that uses a circular saucer, angled neck to a cylindrical secondary hull, with relatively narrow pylons shooting either straight out or at an angle to any standard Federation Nacelle, especially cylindrical, is considered a "Constitution Variant".
So taking Excelsior parts and re-arraigning them into a Connie look (which is exactly what one of them ships do), is part and parcel of the "we can't get" deal. Along with asking to use any other ship part styles - so no Galaxy-esque Connies, or 25th Century Vesta/Pathfinder/Tron-lined Command, pilot-radiator covered, etc. etc.
I do still, FCT or not (mainly because FCT is a CM & Mod creation to the best of my knowledge, not an actual Dev statement) hold out hope based on Stahl's last "never say never but it still doesn't look promising" comment on a potential T5 or T6 ship.
And as I say in my sig, since T5 isn't "endgame" anymore (endgame competitive, yeah. Endgame, no. Very important matter of semantics ) I do hope that we can get the Connie into there along with the T'Liss...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

The only way we'll ever get the Connie is if Cryptic is allowed to insert the JJ version, alongside the Vengeance and JJ Kelvin.
Since it's basically NOT the classic TOS Connie. It's larger (than a Galaxy even), could potentially use cannons (or Pulsed Phasers if Cryptic decides to be novel about it; in the same vein as the Vaadwar Polaron "beams"), has a fancier warp animation, and has a modern bridge and interior.
But since that topic is as dead as asking for a classic NX-01 or Connie in anything past T1 and T2, we really should consider moving on to other ship choices.
I predict T6 versions of the Avenger, Mogai, Mogh, Armitage, Qa'tel, Arkif, Defiant, T'Varo, and B'Rel in the near future.
And I'll predict a Sovereign much later. The Polaris design from the STAIII Mod for SINS that someone posted several threads ago pretty much fits the modern Delta Rising design scheme, sharing elements with the Andromeda and Guardian designs, while looking close enough to a Sovereign-class.
Since we're wishing, I'll add my vote: Carriers. I LOVE carriers! So, when I saw that there still are no T6 carriers, I got kinda sad. I'll get my tier 5U carrier, but then that's the end of my progression as a carrier pilot until a T6 carrier hits the market. *sigh* (It would have helped if I had been playing when the Christmas time event came out that had that awesome carrier...)
i would like to have a t6 dhelan. but all these old ships must stay in the past, for the future of sto, we need new designs, new ideas, new classes of ships.
i don't like the new rom pilot ships (in my opnion, they are ugly), but the others are really cool. same thing for the intel and command ships, i like these new designs, even if at the release of these ships, i was sceptical.
I've been playing off and on for now for a couple of years So i'm gonna hat into the ring (I almost never post I just read the forums a lot). I would really love a T6 Scimitar. For the bonus console since Romulans all about plasma give the it the plasmonic leech. A ton of people would buy it. It's a big win the pocket of Cryptic.
Someone even designed one That looks awesome. Ignore the stats they designed they way over the top but the actual design of the ship is amazing

But Carriers then already exist. Tier 6 Breen ship, Command Cruisers.
I tend to think a Tier 6 Vo'Quv is only slightly less important than a Tier 6 BOP, and more important than a Tier 6 KDF Science Vessel.
the faeht is already a better T6 t'varo
