Please pay attention to this! This will save you time in case you have problems in the future. This is crucial incase STO or anything else you play or do all of a sudden does NOT work when new operating systems come out.
As you may or may not know, Microsoft Windows 10 is coming out late this year (projected)
If the game works fine on Windows 7/8, it would benefit you greatly to first BACKUP YOUR ENTIRE COMPUTER's Harddrive PRIOR TO UPGRADING!. By either Cloning it to another hard drive/device or to an hard drive image. But whatever you do, DO NOT make your target the same as your source or you could CORRUPT the system.
Then once you have done the above, proceed to upgrade. If by that time something goes wrong, restore from your backup and wait for fixes/updates to come out until then.
This is not to put down Microsoft or other publishers. This is just advice.

Yes it is, but not everyone thinks to do so before upgrading, especially when it comes to Operating Systems.
