I guess what Id really like to know is how low is the rate for the ship drop going to be? If the extra is 10 lobi or the ship drop what are the odds of drop?
I guess what Id really like to know is how low is the rate for the ship drop going to be? If the extra is 10 lobi or the ship drop what are the odds of drop?
I imagine it'll be just like last time. The chances will be slim of getting anything other than lobi.
It would be pretty great if you guys could let those of us who already own the Sheshar be able to switch it to command if we wanted to. I'd give up fleet modules or upgrade tokens or whatever to be able to switch mine over to a command seat.
Would really like this guys! Please!
The individual's rights will be protected only so long as they don't conflict with the state.... nothing is so dangerous to a society.
It's a trip that you bring up the Pathfinder...cause how many folks bought an Intrepid shortly before the Pathfinder came out, eh?
How about folks that bought a Guardian cause there was no T6 Galaxy...then voila...there was a T6 Galaxy?
Etc, etc, etc...it's nothing new.
Not quite.
As I've said many times today... this isn't an argument over T5-U versus T6, or Fleet versus Regular, or Mirror versus Fleet or Regular... all of those are all DIFFERENT SHIPS. The Intrepid example? Sorry, but at least you got HP upgrades, a Starship Trait, and a spec seat where there was none before. The Pathfinder is a totally different ship that the Long Range Retrofit. (And don't read "not viable" in that... not the argument here).
The Guardian... I have NO sympathy for anyone who *thought* that was a T6 Galaxy. I don't care that it looks similar, just like I don't care that the Phantom looks like the Defiant (and even has the cloak). The Guardian is NOT the Galaxy, and the Phantom is NOT the Defiant... and Cryptic never said they were.
The truth is... this is the same freaking ship as was released in December. Same trait, same console... the only thing different is a change in spec seat. Now, few seem to care about the Command specialization... shoot, I don't even own the Sheshar. So, why do I care? It undermines what are arguably the most expensive ships in the game.
And, yes, I really know why this is happening. Cryptic planned poorly (again), and can't really say, "Look at our new ship! You should get it! Oh, but we're gonna release it again, but this time, it may be in a specialization you may want more." To tip their hand like that would undermine their sales...
But, this leaves the door open for any T6 ship to be re-released under another specialization, forcing players to purchase the ship again for a very weak reason. This is such a crappy, nay... shady way of going about things.
At the bank. It ends when it stops being profitable.
However, enough people have voted with their wallet and said they really do not mind this at all. So, as much as I might consider it unethical, the majority has spoken. And they said they don't care.
I'm truly baffled by the response I've gotten about this today. Many don't seem to care.
That may be because the Sheshar is not as popular, or that the Command spec is viewed as inferior... but just wait until the JHSS gets this treatment. Or that Andromeda class needs a better specialization attached to it.
You want it? Gotta buy it. Already bought it? Buy it again.

Forcing how?
If somebody wants it, they'll get it.
If somebody doesn't want it, they won't get it.
If people get both, Cryptic will make note of it.

What's with the entitlement?
They're providing options to folks...folks will let them know if they want it or not.
But seriously, what about Sona ships? They look super nice in their boomerang style! Or did you ever think about a Keldon class? There are still some ships left you didnt give us on hand, why release an old one new?
I don´t have the old Elachi, I won´t get the new, I have an old bug, didn´t succeed to get a new, doesn´t really matter to me I don´t really like your refits of super expensive ships. But if you need thos cashgrabs, give me some better food. New stuff, don´t copy what we already have worked or paid for.

I may not have bought the Sheshar (and, I really have no desire to get the Sheshar, but that's beside the point). I did get the JHSS. I also have the JHAS... so, what sold me on the JHSS? The trait, the console, and the Intel seat (specifically)... oh, yeah, and the thought that the JHSS would not go through another change until T7 ships are released. THAT is my problem. This precedence is totally UNNECESSARY.
Wanna know what's weird, too? I like the fact that they're releasing the ship as "a box with a choice." If you win the ship (or buy it on the exchange), you get a choice. That's actually kinda cool.
I just want to be able to purchase the Jem'Hadar Attack ship pets for my Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier. I'm still waiting for that restriction to be removed.
Thank you.
Carry on.
One day Cryptic will be free from their Perfect World overlord. Until that day comes, they will continue to pamper the whales of this game, and ignore everyone that isn't a whale.

Of course a lot of people don't care, are you surprised? Most of us will never own any flavour of Mega Priced Elastic Shoeshine Supership.
Does it bother us that a few whales might have to gamble for a new one to change spec seating?
Not a hell of a lot...

Give a man a fire and he's warm for a day... Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life...</size>

...Not to be rude or anything... but wouldn't it of been easier just to slap these stats on a different ship? (Maybe the Tarantula or Tethy? hint hint cough cough)...
This, totally this. I really would have loved to see another ship (esp. the Tarantula *drool*
slobber*) but a re-run with just another Lt. Cmd. BOff? I don't know... don't get me wrong though, it's a great ship, maybe a bit ugly , but great to fly and everything, but a re-run seams a bit... uhm... lazy?
Anyway, to those who are actually going for it, it's totally worth it, it's an awesome, awesome ship, but don't invest too much money, leave some for summer vacation and stuff :D

Yeah, so? Such is life.
Do you whine at every company that dares release a new version of a product you bought?
Judging by the 30 point jump in the exchange overnight this must be the greatest ship since Archer's enterprise. w t heck.

You have a tiny chance to get an Elachi Sheshar box instead of 10 Lobi Crystals and if you get the box and open it, you have the choice between the Command or Intel seating.
I'm not mad about the ship; I much prefer my Sheshar with intel.
Now, the precedent this is setting...
It's a clever ploy : repackage "old ships " , slap new command seating on it ,make it a T6 variant and charge for it all over again . Beauty of the scheme is that they can do this indefintely by adding new and shiny specialisations every few months so that means rinse and repeat .
What I find "dumb" is that they don't sell upgrade tokens to make T5 ships > T6 ( not T5U) , including special seating and mastery , those would sell like crazy .
But then again : doing that would require them to design brand new ones instead and this way they can put them in lockboxes .
Something different would be preferable. The Sheshar's an ugly mother...
Judging from the dilithium exchange a lot of people disagree with you. Since the announcement of this new ship the dilithium exchange has jumped 25-30 points (and it was not low to begin with at 245).
Must be a lot of compensating going on for people to want such huge ships.
Personally i like my elachi escort, but the two larger vessels (3 if you go with the two sheshar variants) don't appeal to me.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Oh, not completely. It's a sweet-looking ship. But the 5/3 weapon layout is, like other similar ships, completely wasted on a ship with a 6 TR. At least give it 8 or 9 if you're going to bias it towards pointing its nose at the enemy.
And honestly, speaking as someone who kind of enjoys lockboxes from time to time, these R&D promotions are a ripoff. R&D mats are so trivial to farm that there's virtually no reason for an existing player to buy them, and packs have a good chance of dropping from lockboxes anyway, so if I want to spend money gambling, it's better spent on a key.

This is one of the dumber things I've seen come from Cryptic, and I'm normally one to give them the benefit of the doubt with some releases (and in fact defended them with their JHSS release).
The least Cryptic could have done is just offer the Sheshar but with the option to use any space Specialization skills, like the "Pilot Sheshar", and just offer a one-time Zen upgrade (hell, make it 10 USD and we'll call it even) for existing Sheshars to get the seat upgrade, if Cryptic didn't want to make it a free one-time upgrade. While they're at it, change the Ensign Eng to either Ensign Sci or Ensign Universal, and it be a guaranteed seller.
That single move would have put more value into the Sheshar as a whole, and would have made more money for Cryptic has a whole (being the first ever uber-special Universal/UniSpec capable ship, and a Promo ship at that). But it's like Cryptic hates money almost as much as they hate their players gaining XP past 54-55. Which is really twisted and bizarre given that Promos and Lockboxes make most of their money off of.
Ah well; there's consolation for the Command variant owners; they don't even have to use any of the skills at all and just use it as a straight Sci seat. GravWell + Crescent Wave BFG works pretty well.

See... THAT would make SO MUCH sense! It's another added bonus of the "uber chaser ships." It would only add to their value, without TRIBBLE over a section of the playerbase (however small it may be, insert cynical comments about whales here).
But, this idea would require some forethought... the decision they went with instead, however, reflects poor planning and a bit of desperation. TRIBBLE T7 ships... THIS is likely their plan for the foreseeable period. Releasing the same ships, over and over, with razor-thin differentiation.
