It didn't bother me that there were people flying the new breen carrier on day 1 from stockpiles or massive lobi stashes.
It was actually useful, I could ask a fleetmate how the ship was before deciding if I wanted to grind for it.
That, I suspect is the real reason for ending that, now we have to grind to find out if we want it.
More grinding this year means more metrics this year, right? And Metrics are King!
Who knows, maybe next year they will announce 25 days of grind for a 'mystery prize' that will only be delivered when the event is over...

I understand making the change to new currency each year, because for example with Q-pics you could do the anniversary 2015 episode on each alt and get a spare 396 q-pics per alt to use next year. 15 minutes work for a spare 396 pics and a mission reward too.
It seems fair for everyone to have to do the full 15 days or whatever every year on 1 character. The post makes clear that alts only need to run 1 daily mission.
I'm disappointed that I can't get the old ships, but I'm not going to rage about that. Cryptic is giving me a new, free T6 ship for all of my alts. Thanks! The Breen carrier is a great ship, and the Kobali cruiser is good too if you add 2-3 +Turn Rate consoles.
Cryptic you guys are just an absolute total RIP OFF.
All of this new TRIBBLE, grind or pay, you are counting on new players paying for the advantages others have been committed to the grind for. Now this. PLayers take note, anything you have saved from previous things, Winter Event, Mirror Event, Crystalline entity event will go this way too. They will never admit this, but there you go.
Just put the game back to Pay to Play and oh yeah make it PLAYABLE...the lag is beyond belief, Command Ships/Traits/Specialization seems to be a huge cause of it, and your answer is a Command Sheshar? Really?
Ugh...When does Legacy of the Void come out? I need something better to play, you have butchered Star Trek and if CBS was smart they would take this license away from you and give to people that can nurture this game.

Of course, this from the same devs that consistently break the game with their new little toys because they don't actually read bug reports on Tribble.
Overall, I'm neither impressed nor surprised. And the Starship emotes are exactly like the devs: tacky, tasteless, and of absolutely no conceivable use other than to troll those of us that try our best to imagine that things could get better.
Just going to say that I'm saddened by the fact that I stuck around praying things would get better, only to be slapped in the face by this.
Personally, it comes down to do I play the game to get what ever ship you release this year, or do I skip the month of vacation the wife and I planned?

If their metrics are demanding players to play the Summer Event, then the Devs will be disappointed. After the announcement of removing the ability to save, no, EARN pearls for next years event will be gone, Players will only play the Summer event long enough to get the rewards then move on.
I have seriously never gotten even one of these event ships, and it is looking like this summer would be a bad year to start. Soo here is the deal. Unless the new outfits this summer are fantastic or their are flipflops i wont even need to go to Risa. Guess this makes this kinda good news then....
I have an alt who was flying a Risian cruiser (RXS Latinum Princess). I was at the time roundly derided for making such a "foolish" choice of ships. (Never understood clearly why, as it mounts four weapons forward and four aft, has a fair number of consoles, and has Cruiser Commands - mostly folks just thought it looked ridiculous, I gather.)
The consensus on the forums, at least, was that the very idea of a luxury cruiser converted into a warship was "stupid". It was widely hated, with a number of people swearing they'd never even bother playing the Summer Event if that was what they were getting as a reward. Now that its day is done, of course, it's the greatest thing since replicated bread, and Cryptic's just horrible for taking it away...
That, and the t5-u upgrade for the cruiser gave it 4 tac consoles, so you have a decent unique console and a solid 4-tac cruiser.
Delta toons that would slot old summer ships might have to spend Zen on ship slots? No? I can only speak for myself of course, but my two Fed Delta toons with 14 ship slots have 10 T6 ships (no T6 escort), 3 T5-U ships ( Atrox, Steamrunner, and Excelsior) plus Yellowstone shuttle. I was looking at adding ship slots for 3 more summer ships. These toons are Caitians, so not going to drop the Atrox (RP) and the Steamrunner T5-U is Awesome sauce. The Excelsior is cannon. Plus another toons that I made since last summer would have gotten the summer set of ships. All need ship slots, so Zen would be need! But I just saved myself either alot of dil grinding, cash or both. Meh!
Let us not lose hope they have yet to change the currencies for the Mirror / CCE /winter events yet but, for some reason i now suspect that will be coming.
Please please PLEASE Cryptic, make the older ships available from the Lobi store!
The lobi store is like the catch all for old rewards and is a great way to continue earning profit from old/outdated material.
Make a T6 Risian ship with a console that requires the older ones for example? If you can get them through the lobi store, then people will pay one way or another for those accursed orange cuffling gems to get them.
Move content to a different part of the game, don't REmove content from the game.

If I am reading this correctly there will be no more chances for newer accounts of the Summer Events Risian ships: Corvette & Luxury Cruiser.
That's a lousy decision, not very customer-friendly, & short-sighted by my selfish opinion since I have no Winter nor Summer event ships.
I had read about those previous events & was looking forward to them. Yes, I am speculating that since Cryptic has decided to go this route for the Summer event it'll probably be the same for the Winter.
I can understand the change in currency involved, but if there's a good reason to excluded previous rewarded ships Cryptic should articulate their reasoning in doing so.
Emotes for starships? Really? They look so...silly...I mean personally I'd prefer to unlock the jester or air guitar, the one's that you had to buy but no longer can. Also I don't really see anyone using the emotes in space, as it loses something by being just an icon. As I've seen, most of players at social hubs usually love to play with their powers while in space, either because they like the animations or they just want to troll everyone around them. However so far I've only seen players cluttering up the spawn areas around DS9, ESD, Qo'nos, New Romulus and etc for whatever reasons.

So let me break this down:
1. Cryptic wants to encourage as many players as possible to participate in events.
2. To incentivize participation, they set goals with rewards that can only be earned during the event.
3. It takes more time and dedication than many players have to grind out the "ultimate" rep project before the end of any single event.
4. Players previously were not punished for having real lives outside of the game, because their incomplete efforts were not wasted--they were carried over to the next such event.
5. Going forward, if a player does not collect enough event currency to complete the project during the event in which it is introduced, that opportunity is lost forever and their efforts were wasted--or at best result in some kind of "consolation prize".
Is there some part of this that I'm misunderstanding?
Because I'll be honest, if this is the way event rep rewards and currency are being handled going forward, I'm not going to risk wasting my time. There are plenty of other fun things to do in the game that don't punish me for having a life.
If this is a trial balloon, consider it popped with prejudice.
What if Cryptic extended the event completion time by one week on all events subject to this currency restriction?
And unless something got answered while I was on the road, can it be officially confirmed or denied how ALL FUTURE EVENTS, to include the Winter Event and Anniversary will be handled going forward????

I'm not surprised at all, used to be a common thing, you do something unpopular, make an official thread where people can complain about it, and sit back and ignore the 100+ pages or wrath, if we're complaining here we're not complaining elsewhere, right?
some years ago, a games dev studio who had a very very popular line of strategy games (Total War) , was bought out by a major player (SEGA), who funded the release of version 2 of one of the series best selling titles.
The first 50 mb patch didnt adress any of the games critical flaws, nor did the second 650 mb patch (and this wasn't in the universal broadband age), and said patch wasn't hosted on the company's servers. You wanted the fairly poor patch, you had to sign up on 3rd party sites and get your spam mail count elevated by 2 orders of magnatude.
The complaint thread grew to massive proportions.
One of the highlights of said thread was the SEGA Vice President in charge of the Total War series, spamming the thread with a discussion of how great the bbq sauce had been at the dev studios annual xmas beach party, as an alternative to addressing complaints to his post stating that they were not doing another patch to fix the problems because "everything will be fixed when you pay $50 for the expansion pack in 6 months time".

Just realized the Risian ships never even got the unique bridges the devs had talked about back when they got added. And now they are getting killed off.
Anyway, who knows.. maybe they aren't killing off the ship models entirely.
Maybe the Corvette returns as a Pilot ship.
And the Cruiser returns as a Command ship.

Lets change the Louhnat favors next no reason previous years players should have any advantage over new players. Metrics demand that you log in to grind out races to earn Brand new favors. Ungrateful Risians

The devs listened to all the people ranting and raging about DR's ending up as "T6 characters" and making their existing characters obsolete.
