Just a quick workaround for this issue (from one who DOES want the IRW prefix):
Any ship with a "NONE" option for prefix can have any prefix you want. Just select NONE, and then type your prefix of choice into the same box with the name. I did this with the Nandi, and the Risian corvette. So I have RMS prefixes on my civilian ships.
[SNIP]
I also believe that, given the amount of groaning some devs have uttered simply regarding adding the Lleiset interior to the Scimitar bridge...
[SNIP]
That's interesting, and thanks for the heads up on that. I didn't know the devs had even acknowledged how much we'd like the Lleiset interior to be added to player Scimitars. I'll have to see if I can find the threads where they did their groaning. :

c'mon people even protogoth admitted there was no good reason to deny the IRW prefix. Can't we just let it rest there?
Let no dead horse go unbeaten!

This is exactly my point. I'm not trying to shut down anything. Just pointing out that this is a dead horse being beaten. There are so many more important things to request than use of a prefix. Though as an idea, perhaps request the ability to buy prefixes for Zen, like with the NX prefix.
So.....carry on.
Important according to you. To quote Mark Twain (again), "Nothing that grieves us can be called little: by the eternal laws of proportion a child's loss of a doll and a king's loss of a crown are events of the same size."
Some people are passionate over particular aspects of the game, and despite knowing full well this appears to be a 'dead horse' issue, we have another thread with a member of the STO community that has continued to ask for the MACO Enterprise outfit despite the topic being beaten to death (and then some).
I have different opinions of what is important. So do others on the STO forums. Unless the topic of the IRW prefix ends up making it into the FCT list (which would require an official dev response on the matter), I personally believe people should continue to nag. Continue to complain. Continue to ask. To be persistent. To be unrelenting. To fight for what they believe is important for the game no matter how small it may seem, or who might try to oppose them. Because somebody somewhere in the STO community is willing to put the time and effort into making their pleas heard, and I think that's respectable.

Honestly, I don't care if it was in the game as a C-store unlock at this point, if that's what it would take to get Cryptic to put it out there.
If they only left an empty option, as vorwoda said, we could have whatever we'd want, even MLP. I'd pay for that too (the empty option, not the Pony tag )
The RSE is a failed state, and it's been replaced by the Republic. The fact that the RSE hasn't been able to either steal a ship from the Republic or build their own variant using stolen plans just goes to show that the old Empire is indeed fading away. They have very little infrastructure, dwindling support, and a faint shadow of a fleet. Not even being able to produce their own unique new ships just furthers the point.

And you know any of that is true how? By Cryptic's fabulous development on stories and content not related to the FE? Please... get over yourself, you seem to be the only one with an issue with this still

Mainly extrapolation from what evidence there is. But Koda is right. The equine is deceased. Please refrain from bludgeoning it.
The RRW and IRW prefix is really out of whack. Take a look at this screenshot of my KDF-Rom TAC. She has more ships.
The ones with IKS are the ones I tried to put IRW on but couldn't.
The RRW and IRW prefix use is just out of uniform. There are ships that the RSE used that cannot use the IRW prefix. There are ships the RSE never used that can use the IRW prefix.
The prefixes need to be straightened out to either of these 2:
1. RRW for all the Rom faction ships with IRW option for canon RSE designs (T'Varo/T'Liss, Scimitar, D'Deridex, Mogai, etc.)
or
2. IRW & RRW freely being used by all ships.

So why did you put IKS on them?
Also, I'm wondering if you have any Klingon ships that came out of hte box with RRW. All of my Mat'ha's and Qibs did.

Other than to show how the RRW/IRW prefix system is all broken up for the Roms, I'd rather my Roms fly with IKS than RRW
I prefer IRW prefixes but I'm fine with RRW on my Remans.
And yes, I have had Post-DR KDF ships with RRW as default. I remember specifically getting this when DR came out and my Matha and Qib having RRW. You have to edit the ship name to correct it.

Rather unusual for someone who dislikes the Republic. Most of those snobs equate IKS with "garbage scow full of filthy barbarians". Nice to see some of you have open minds.

My brother is a Gorn player. He hates Klingons to the point that he kept the RRW just to be rid of the IKS.
Looks like I have a Fleet D'Khellra with a D'Deridex skin. Need to go back to the T5-U to get the *none* option. But hey, I can put up the U.S.S. instead, so it is not like there is zero choices involved! There is in fact all of two!
Now that I've taken the ship out for a little, I've come to the conclusion that the *none* prefix option needs to be included with *all ships*. It is a beast!
Not having a prefix can't damage any lore, can it? Besides, it is like asking for nothing, even though there is a need to do something! If anyone from Cryptic reads this, please, please please, have mercy on the dark souls that have drifted away from absolute correctness! Options make us buy more stuff, remember?
And an option to not have any option, is even less to ask for!
Thanks for the workaround suggestion, I have not used the ship as much as I should because of this. Erm. All hail the Republic, of course!
You're very welcome! I agree with your later post that it's a shame that some ships DON'T have the NONE option. After all, if Kirk and crew can spray paint "BOUNTY" on a Klingon Bird of Prey, We should all be able to.
Bounty - the quicker picker-upper. For whales, that is.
Let's see who's old enough to remember those commercials... Heh, heh.

Here in this thread, several posts on page 3.

MAKE GHS AVAILABLE TO ALL KLINGON SHIPS CAPTAINED BY GORN!!!
woo hoo! now we have a new horse to beat to death and beyond!!!
Dang, except I actually kinda agree with you there
I suggested that earlier in the thread, along with OSS for all Klingon ships captained by Orions, VSS for all Fed ships captained by Vulcans, etc.

I was now going to say this wasn't working for me
