And now the Pilot Ships are going to be faction packs or megapack. Except for lock box grand prizes and promotion ships (Winter 2014, Anniversary 2015 and R&D promotions), which were individual ships, every Tier 6 ship issued so far has been part of one bundle or another. Why haven't there been any 'stand-alone' Tier 6 ships released?
So wait, let me get this straight, the complaint is Cryptic offering people discounts by offering bundles?
Yet another release/promotion/event/ship pack shot into a quagmire of bugs and lag. I think I played ISA once over the dilithium weekend. Tough to work up the energy to care about a new ship pack when I'm barely playing a barely playable game.
Kinda surprised at a megabundle instead of a one for each like the iconics.
I kinda think that maybe they'll do what they did with the command ships, make the big 9 ship mega bundle of Cryptic Original ships then later make 3 "iconic" t6 ships with pilot slots, probably there we'll get a t6 Defiant, Bird of Prey, and I dunno for the Romulans, T'liss perhaps.
If everyone buys these ships and uses them instead of the Command ships, the lag will disappear and they won't have to do anything. :P
And then Pilot ships cause lag with multiple players spamming their immunity-maneuvers; causing the servers to be unable to keep up with the sudden directional switches or adjustments resulting in ghosting, de-syncing, and plenty of other hilarious stuff.
Golly, I hope these $30 ships are fast enough to outrun the lag and rubberbanding plaguing the gameplay they're required in.
Stole the words right out of my mouth! XD
Also, while I could care less about these ships, I'm really getting sick and tired of Klingon Ships coming with Cloak, Romulans get Battle Cloak, and Feds get no cloak! Don't give me this "giant alliance" BS if were not sharing technology, like how a REAL alliance should in a Galactic war!
EDIT: Just noticed that in that blog they say that doing a barrel roll is Piloting ability that comes with the ship. Um...we already have that in the Piloting specialization. Is this like a backup to do it twice or something?
That makes no sense. You want the ship artists and programmers to not have anything to do while the technicians do just as much work as they'd do if the ship artists and programmers were still doing this stuff...?
i think the complaint is the company order of priorities. maybe people feel there arent enough people qualified to 'bug fix' on the payroll and cryptic should adjust their departments to account for that...

So you want them to fire artists and hire more systems programmers? I am sure Tacofangs will appreciate your lovely attitude towards his job and the need for his skillset.
Am I the only one here who finds it insulting that there's still no free way to get a tier 6 or equivalent ship that isn't some bundle or special? Maybe they should fix THAT first.
I personally find a bit funny that all new ships and features are available only from C-Store. I am not a F2P player tho spent already on this game, and i love it, and planning on spending in future, even with this freaking lagg. Yeah ofc i would like to play without lagg but, nothing is perfect. Even if the name suggest otherwise
So what i really wanna say is that i think it isnt only me who love to see an upgrade token for the T5/T5-U ships that capable changing BOFF seats. such as just turn an existing one into a chosen Specialisation seat. Because not all of us are so eager to fly those T6 ships. I have both T5-U and T6.. i still sticking with my T5-U fleet versions or even the Scimitar in that matter.

Two free T6 ships now, one more coming this summer, and a 4th in December, and that's not good enough for you. I suspect nothing ever will be.
Watching the ships use their maneuver abilities is actually pretty frackin' cool. It's a very quick translation in space position that can be done extremely frequently. We're getting some non-static-pictures prepared for ya'll to show off the cool new moves.
The team is working with customization for the ships once again. So you'll be able to see a lot of translatable parts as you mix-and-match how you design your ship.
you can always keep asking to buzz the tower!
also, May 13 is Top Gun Day. Maybe we could have some sort of pilot ship event that day.

Looks at free t6 breen carrier, free t6 kobali cruiser.... Yup two free t6 ships actually exist in the game already. Will be a third soon too with the Risa event coming up.
Also, other than event ships there never were free ships after level 40. The free 50s are linked to subscriptions.
I must be the only person that was hoping for an escort/cruiser/sci ship 3-pack, instead of a variant of the same ship. Like what you guys did for the intel ships. Yeah, some folks find that their combat style requires these variants, I both understand and agree, but... what happens if you want to fly an (almost) totally different class of ship?
The command ship "Inspiration" felt like it should have been applied to the command specialization tree, not a specific set of ships. I suspect these pilot maneuvers will have a very similar feel to them. And end up being a very interesting mechanic that is largely wasted.

I think the person you just quoted means 'free' as in 'being able to get without effort, cost or other measurement'. Like the Level-40-and-below ships.
I didn't expect yet another pack for each faction. I kinda like the Fed one. The other two look pretty bad, but maybe you can get them to look decent.
I like those ship maneuvers and if the traits are nice, I'll definitely consider buying one or two of these ships. I've been saving dilithium lately for T6 ships (I only have the Samsar as a T6 ship).

Heh, apparently he's new to this whole "Massively Multiplayer" game genre if he's wanting things just handed to him for showing up. That's what single player games are for.
The special movement abilities should have been tied to progression in the Pilot tree, not made into pay2win features.
@Venture-1. @Venture from City of Heroes if you remember that. Yes, that Venture. Yes, I probably trashed your MA arc. You'll have to be specific; for me it was Tuesday.
I was going to do a giant quoteball from others that already said it, but just to save space...
Piloting Maneuvers sound like a ton of fun. I'm assuming that all Piloting Maneuvers share a cooldown to prevent spamming different ones for damage immunity? Along those lines, though... a BoP could really have benefitted from these Piloting Maneuvers, and since the Specialization ship abilities are tied specifically to Specialization ships... that's a major missed opportunity right there.
Defiant =/= Piloting?
Any BoP =/= Piloting?
T'Varo/Dhelan =/= Piloting?
Really, it's kind of too bad this wasn't a Cross-faction 3-Pack with the ability to use "classic" skins. We'll see about the Starship Traits, but I'm not sure I want/need 9 ships that all have the same Tactical/Piloting seat. While the Command Cruisers (if they didn't also cause lag) would be just fine swapping in Command abilities in place of Engineering, Tactical is generally far more useful... so many of the Piloting abilities are going to be sort of lost by the wayside.
Reroute Reserves to Weapons might see some use at the Cmdr level, but that's about it given the available Tac options... however, in reviewing the Pilot Bridge Officers blog in light of the ships that would use them...
Pilot Team
Increase the Accuracy and Defense of yourself or a targeted ally, while also granting temporary immunity to movement-impairing effects.
**This ability shares a cooldown category with other “Team” type abilities, but also benefits from effects that enhance existing “Team” abilities.
...does that mean "Team" abilities are getting their shared cooldown put back, or is it that Pilot Team will trigger cooldown on every other "Team" ability but the others will be left alone? In either case... nobody's going to be using Pilot Team if it's putting Tac Team on cooldown, and even less so if it's putting all "Teams" on cooldown.
These might end up being something I hold off for at the moment, instead hoping for a nice Pilot-themed Iconics #2 Cross-faction 3-Pack with a non-Tactical Lt Cmdr Hybrid/Pilot seat. Specifically one with a decent BoP... but again, if anything fits the Piloting Maneuvers mechanic it's a BoP, and that mechanic is stuck on these things...
I also really hope the Raptor doesn't go the Defiant->Qin route with performance... somehow that ended up being less than the sum of its parts.
I was really looking forward to these, but a 9-Pack that can't use "classic" skins, has no BoP, and burns its Hybrid/Pilot seat on Tac for all variants... *sigh* we'll see.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
The special movement abilities should have been tied to progression in the Pilot tree, not made into pay2win features.
Actually, I've been playing this particular game for far longer than you. I've just seen the persistent movement to push the free to players out of the end game by adding consistently more powerful ships for real money only. Season 9 hit it particularly hard by not adding top tier ship that's easy to receive, like the free tier 5's Sovereign, Neghvar, and the like at level 40. They weren't the best ships, but they could compete at top tier. They had the health pools, they had the bridge officer slots, and they had the firepower. There's no such thing for tier 6. It's bad for long term game health, and will kill the in game population if it continues. I'm not one of said free to players, but I've noticed the decline.

I agree totally. I was just going to post a similar comment. There should be an upgrade token for maybe 500 Zen to replace one of your current BOFF seats with a new one, whether it be a specialization seat or not. Just to customize your ship.

my complaint is that cryptic will likely incentivise the bundle purchase by splitting a single t6 ship into three separate purchasable components...

I would pay for that..but then again, I've bought pretty much very ship so far :P
Also..Intel/Pilot spec for the 'venger? Can see that one being liked alot, except for the oversaturation of cruisers.
Capt. Will Conquest of the U.S.S. Crusader
There are 4 pipes exposed and seems the front end just got sliced off with a guillotine.
Whats the deal with that?
Just put on a sleek nose to compliment the lines of the ship
