I still son't understand why Enterprise had to introduce Xindi, when there are novels out about the romulan war which are like 5 times more interesting to read, since they talk about a race we actually new before, but the characters of the show did not. Second and third season should have been about Earth - Romulan war and the show would have been a success.
I mean they set a new show in the past, but they do not bother to dive into the established lore...No, they even changed it to upset the fanbase.

There were plans to do the Earth-Romulan War in the works with Season 5, but the show was canceled so the closest we got was the Romulan Drone Ship incident. Doesn't mean the war didn't happen. It just didn't happen on screen, but one of the stressors was the Drone Ship attacks.

I think they wanted time to establish the crew as well as the tech before diving into a major canon event like the Earth-Romulan War. Things just didn't go as planned.

I never said it was impossible to do. All I suggested was that Paramount and CBS do not have or are not willing to make the investment to do it right.

Story alone wouldn't sell the show either. The formula has to include many parts, including good story, good directing, good acting, good VFX etc.

It seems to me that Paramount is being very careful with its expenditures in order to maximize profits for the shareholders. It's a shame really when you take a look at their complete library.

    Some really impressive titles eh?

Now take a look at their upcoming releases at BoxofficeMojo.

    How the great have fallen...
    Are we there yet?

Hang on, I have to necro this.

Nemesis = Star Trek VI? Let's check it out.

Insane guy comes after the captain of the Enterprise because he had a crappy life on a desolate planet, and wants revenge. Insane guy acquires starship. Insane guy acquires super-weapon. Insane guy has starship duel with the Enterprise in a nebula. Insane guy's starship is crippled by the Enterprise. Insane guy activates super-weapon in an attempt to destroy the Enterprise and crew. Logical and "emotionless" officer sacrifices himself to save the Enterprise. Enterprise crew has funeral for deceased friend/officer. Fortunately, deceased office downloaded his katra onto disc prior to dying.

Sounds a lot like a different even-numbered Trek film. And, a recently released knock-off of the knock-off, except - what a twist - Kirk dies instead. Pow! $$$

Actually, the plot of Into Darkness hits very few of those plot points you listed.
