I am sorry, but it just seems like a very pedantic way of looking at this. Sit around looking a scenery for 1.5 minutes, click a button, and then look at more scenery for 1.5 more minutes versus look at scenery for 3 minutes.
Cause I'm not going to sit here for 3+ minutes looking at scenery? The difference between having to do some form of interaction, as crappy as it is, vs. watching a screensaver.
Take New Romulus as an analogy, eh? You've got the various destinations on the map, right? Along those destinations, you come across either camps with missions or across NPCs that will attack you. There's also the transporter system so one can quickly bounce around.
Now imagine New Romulus without the NPCs along the path and add in the ability to autorun to a destination.
That's the new Sector Space.
If the new Sector Space had actually been more like New Romulus...my issue goes away.
Doing nothing for a minute or less, then having to do something, is not the same as having all that time with nothing happening...
Have you ever played TSW? Takes longer to go from one end of an area map to the other than it takes to fly across Sector Space. While making those trips back and forth across the map, there's actual exploration - there are all the various hidden Lore to find, there are mission areas to find, there are mobs to find - to engage or to avoid...etc, etc, etc. Travel can be extremely interactive.
I'm not sure what's wrong with wanting it to be more interactive in STO. Though, that's probably considered hardcore...doesn't fit the casual do nothing nature that so many players want in STO where they can just play dress up and chat.

I am not going to change your opinion, nor are you going to change mine. The debate seems somewhat pointless for us both.
I am sorry your immersion in the game is being lessened via the removal of the walls. In this case your loss is my gain - as my immersion will be increased. But I am certain the wheel will come around again and something you love in the future I will probably hate.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

I've said nothing about my immersion though. Where have I said anything about immersion being changed with this change? Why are folks so intent upon putting words into the mouths of others instead of just going with what folks have actually said?

I have not been seen the new sector space yet, but for the same reasons as you I am not excited about this at all.
If Cryptic had added something to do in Sector space I would be interested. If Cryptic put back the old sector space enemies that used to follow you so you needed to keep attention to what was around you it would be a good change.
But there's nothing to do but go from planet to planet. Maybe get a Red Alert if you're lucky, and those get tiresome fast because they are easy and always the same.

My reply you quoted there may have been a bit edgy...I'm admittedly getting frustrated at folks pointing to various things I've said that I haven't, and it tends to tick me off...
...but you definitely said it in a less aggressive manner than I did there at the end.
The depths of just how static and passive Sector Space is...does it seem crazy to look at a loading screen as a form of interaction and something dynamic? Hell yes, it does. But that's just how damn static and passive Sector Space is by comparison - just how little it offers by comparison. That something as crazy as that might actually look good even while looking so bad...kind of like the starving man eating a beetle. It doesn't mean that I want to eat beetles...
IIIRC, there was also another neat feature added, where you could turn marks into Special Reputation Marks - you know, stuff like Voth Cyberimplants and the like.
If that stays in, no one has to deal with STFs anymore, you just need to get a few more marks. One tiny piece of content for the Daily Mark Bonus, that you can do in your own time and solo, and then you can go off and do whatever - Foundry missions, PVP, whatever, and you still will be able to get the item sets and what not.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
I foresee a huge server implosion...... it has been quite unstable for a while now and it would be the first time in the history of STO if a big new update wouldn't make it much worse.

Have they given a way to earn the Iconian Marks outside of queues though? Is there that thing for the Daily box of Marks? Somebody had mentioned one thing, but when I tried that - it was just the Delta Marks and no option for the Iconian.
But yeah, they're doing the 100 Marks -> 1 Elite Mark thing with a 20 hour CD otherwise...

Wait... since when does it take 3 minutes? Unless you have a ship going warp 5.nothing....

Except the only way to het "Iconian Marks" are PVE Queues ... there was some rumor that Delta Patrols would reward Iconians Marks as well, but not sure if that's true ... can't find anything "official" & I'm too lazy to try it on Tribble ....
Patch Notes : Resolved an Issue, where people would accidently experience Fun.

Yeah, I hit up a couple and they only offered the Delta Marks.
The only jewel in an otherwise lackluster season, is the sector space update.
Something the devs and players alike, have wanted since beta.
Are peeps forgetting the new Engineering skills?! (non-pilot related). Looking forward to those. And to my Fleet Phantom (despite Bort having killed SS3).

New Engineering skills? You mean the single Engineering BOFF ability from the Lock Box? There's also the Tac and Sci BOFF abilities there too. There's a new Sci BOFF ability...that's not in a Lock Box, but I didn't see any Eng abilities.
Keeping in mind it will be a random rank of the ability, so it may not be the rank you want or might even be a rank you can't use on the particular ship you're flying.
Non-Lock Box
Nothing. Destabilizing Resonance Beam Nothing.
edit: BTW, how does one get the Destabilizing Resonance Beam ability?

Yes, the Engineering boff abilities.
Didn't realize they would be randomly ranked; but I figured I'll just buy the ranks I want on Exchange.

So "abilities" is just referring to Structural Integrity Collapse I, II, & III...not that there were multiple different abilities, just different ranks of the ability? Meh, had gotten my hopes up there briefly that I'd missed something.
The biggest thing is the sector space revamp. New areas, no walls, planets bigger, places in more correct places. This is what I'm looking forward to. Since I usually cruise to my places that I need to be next.
The 2 new FEs will be nice once I get there.
USS Casinghead NCC 92047 launched 2350
Fleet Admiral Stowe - Dominion War Vet.
I haven't read anything about Destabilizing Resonance Beam. Any info on what that does?
Has anybody dropped the new lockbox BOff ability? I'm curious as to what the tac ability does.
I have a slow connection so it's going to take a while to download the update. Would anybody mind going to the exchange and seeing if any of these skills are now up for sale and for how much?

Think Cosmic was referring to my previous example of flying from Sol to New Romulus or the like...just rough numbers, I think.
Hrmm, let me hit up Tribble and time it.
3:26 to travel from Sol to New Romulus at Warp 9.97...
