Game appears to be back up right now, I just got through to the launcher window and into the game itself. Will post antother update here as I figure out more.
95% uptime is considered failure for industry standards... or is this something like "Bob and Stacy's star trek online gaming service"?
I'm guessing. I haven't calculated the precise up time. Do you find the downtime unsatisfactory? Or did you have a point to make?
He also has been forgetting that there are going to be times where emergency maintenance would be needed, and if there is times where stuff such as this will happen. You're dealing with a piece of technology that is running 24/7 with the exception of a few hours a week.
I've only managed about 3 months of total playtime and while I love the gameplay this has been my experience right from the start. Even when I am able to play I haven't had a single session that wasn't plagued by lag, regardless of what I was doing. I could be in a solo instance or playing with 9 other people in a giant space battle.
Is this what I should expect going forward? Is this just the norm for this game?
Hey guys! So we're still looking into the issues with the login issues. For some reasons, certain players can log in and others can't. Doing a /tracert and sending us what your public ip is (whatismyip.com)
How do you run a tracert? Go to Start -> Run and enter CMD to bring up a command prompt. Once there, enter this command:
tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com
and hit enter. Please paste your results.

at times it nay seem that way but give them a chance to work on it i been playing form year 1 and seen a lot
If a hosting company had a 95% up rate it would go out of business... that is over 20 days of down time!!! A good service shouldn't have more then a 98% down time... and that is pretty bad!!! Most hosting companies have up time guarantees of 99% and that is still giving them around 4 days of down time a year! Bottom line they should have a hefty enough service to support a 99% up time... THEY DON'T!!!
well new Dr who is on so I want a refund of everything I spent on sto and they can erase my stuff will just play fallout new vegas till fallout 4 starts its not a server game no stupid up time problems
Tracert won't work in this instance, as it is the DNS A record of patchserver.crypticstudios.com that is causing the login issues, as this is not resolving to a valid IP address.
If you need to see where the break in communication is, give us an IP address to tracert to and we might be able to show how many hops before we lose the trace.

Might I remind you that you are also forgetting about routine maintenance schedules and the occasional issue of the game going down, much like this? In reality, so long as they are not strung together, 20 days of downtime is virtually nothing. You still have to factor in server maintenance and all that good stuff in order to keep a running server.

How so? I would say that would be good, considering that you are forgetting that the MMO industry also would have downtimes for maintenance...
