What comes after the Iconians?

The story, from the first year the game came out, has been leading up to this confrontation with the Iconians. What can come after? I suppose an arc can be written about reconstruction and reforging or breaking the alliances we have, but other than that, what else is there that can be done?

    Probably a plot involving "The Other," the entity or entities that saved the Iconians from extinction. After that, the game shuts down.

    Or it goes on. But if it does, please no more generic "big bad alien invader" plots.

    Well... we'll have a gateway to the Andromeda Galaxy so... that kinda opens the door to... anything.

    I'm betting Andromeda could be used for a new exploration revamp.

    Given the whole thing with the Iconians, it's likely they were who the Kelvins were running away from.

    only if they really dumb down the antiproton (a LOT) AND the aux2bat, as well as a hundred other things the F2P player cant hope to acquire in a decent time.

    My guess is the same thing that came after the Xindi in Season 4 of enterprise, a whole lot of other stuff which doesn't build a great big season-spanning theme. A little mirror universe here, some orion slave girls there. The Star Trek universe in 2410 has more than a few gaps to fill in (ex. the Xindi).

    My guess is if you read the Delta Recruit stuff that was mentioned by the Prophets you'd hear almost exactly where the storyline was going. I don't want to spoil it... but they pretty much tell you exactly where the story is going... how it's going to get there... and hint at what's next.

    Except that cryptic can't keep up the multi-season ultimate-baddie build up going indefinitely. At some point there's going to be a pay-off (or else severely dimishing returns) and that's going to lead into a change of pace for the game (just as its been a change of pace to start direclty focusing on the iconains, its the change which is compelling, not the climax content per-say.)

    Why not they've done it so far. First the ultimate baddy was the Borg... then they let that die, and brought in the Jem'Hadar... then the Breen... now the Iconians... next has to be something bigger then the Iconians... and probably something that shifts it back to the Gamma Quadrant for the next expansion... and the Prophet mentioning the next big bad pretty much accomplishes this.

    We had.

    The sphere that that gateway led to, well, its kinda near Iconia now. Which makes it very difficult to use as a gateway to Andromeda.

    Yeah but could you imagine the forum flames if STO went to the Andromeda galaxy before we went to the Gamma Sector and had playable Cardassians.

    I mean people aren't happy that we're in the Delta Quadrant but generally accept that it's part of Voyager and semi-accept it. Moving to a whole new Galaxy before we go and deal with Cardassia and the Gamma Quadrant and the Dominion is just begging for discontent and bile.

    I'm not sure.

    All I know is that Selas coordinates now go directly to empty space. So that the place we knew we could visit, is beyond our reach for now.

    I'm still hoping for more Dominion development btw.

    It's a shame they didn't add in the gamma quadrant people.

    I'm thinking maybe this story line will progress as far as mounting a resistance but fail, or resist enough to drive the Iconians back but not destroyed. Then the story leads to the Gamma quadrant, then a final assult with everyone in all four quadrant. Then the story finishes and move onto the Andromeda Galaxy. It'll be interesting to see how right or how wrong I am.

    I think the real question is, how will the story later be retconned so that the Iconians end up joining the Federation.

    There are plenty of stories to tell Op. I have high hopes for the writers of STO to come up with something new. This first five years have been a teaching class for the writers and developers and they can do so much now they will come up with something new if the time comes .

    Q shows up and declares the trial as over with a guilty verdict and eradicates all humans. The federation then proceeds to fall apart, leaving only the kdf and romulan factions.
