Away team skills still defaulting

It seems that 1 or more boffs in my away team will have 1 or more skills default after leveling up and changing maps. I did the episode Badlands on my recruit and leveled up at the end to 43 after defeating the final enemy but before leaving the map. When I went back to sector space I checked my stations tab and my Catian engineer had the Lt. Commander rank skill default and my Android science boff had the Lt. and Commander rank skills default. It seems when boff skills default the Lt. and Commander rank on my Android boff almost always defaults. I have a science Android boff for all my character's away teams. 1 of my tactical boffs in my away team had the Commander rank skill default as well. (My Catian enginner in my away team is from the C-store)

    Adding/changing equipment on your ship, boffs, or captain seems to cause some away team boff skills to default.

    Tested it:

    While in sector space I looked at my stations tab and everything was fine. I dragged an engineering console to an empty console slot and looked at my stations tab again and some boff skills changed on their own. I reset the changed skills.

    While at DS9 I bought some large hypos to stock up my boffs. I looked at the stations tab and everything was fine. I dragged hypos from my inventory to my boff's device slots. I checked the stations tab and 3 of my away team boffs had at least 1 skill each that defaulted. I reset the changed skills again.

    I then dragged my personal armor on my captain to my inventory and then dragged it back to re-equip it. I then checked the stations tab and 1 boff skill on 1 boff had defaulted again. Again I rest the changed skill.

    I then dragged the personal armor from my Android boff to my inventory and without re-equipping it I saw that 2 of my Android boff's ground skills had changed and the Lt. Commander rank ground skill on my engineer had changed again in the stations tab.

    Edit: Another thought. Since it seems that any equipment being changed causes your away team skills to default, you and/or your boffs using consumable ground devices (such as hypos and shield charges) is making a change to your equipment, and that is also another reason why your away team skills seem to have defaulted when you return to a space map. Edit: Just remembered in the last episode I did I had picked up a couple higher mark personal shields and had equipped them on my boffs during the ground mission.

    Still having this problem as well.

    Doesn't seem to happen as frequently as before(every time you zone), but I find I still always have to change my away team skills the first time after I log in.

    Edit:

    Well I was wrong, it is still happening when I change zones. So no improvement at all :(

    All my officers defaulted to the same set of skills; my tactical BOffs have three Levels of Draw Fire and Ambush I, my Scis have three Hypospray Dylovenes and Anesthizine Gas I, and my Engineers keep going to Chroniton Mine I and II, Cover Shield I and Combat Supply I.

    This is happening to my delta recruits too.

    Same effect before and after the recent patch that was supposed to fix it.

    I have been having the same problem. The away team skills I set up keep being reset to a default I do not want. I have tried saving the loadout on ground, in a system space, in sector space, in a mission, loading, reloading, logging in and out, and the away team skills keep being reset no matter what I try. It might have something to do with placing new items on the bridge officers or ship as previously mentioned. I am often resupplying my away team with hypo's and shield charges, changing their gear, and also changing my ships gear. This has been happening on my delta recruit as well though and is a bit frustrating to always have to redo them.

    Away team skills still defaulting.

    Also my personal traits will unslot themselves while leveling up. I don't notice I have no traits selected at all until I start an episode and I notice I'm not as effective as I should be. When I do finally notice I have no traits selected I have no idea how long it was like that or how many levels I gained before they suddenly decided to unslot themselves.

    As of the Release Notes: May 14th, 2015 http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1458601 this is still an issue.

    Plus, it isn't even mentioned in the "Known issues" section... :(

    That because the known issues Section, would Dwarf the Release Notes...

    I have this issue, with regards to my Command Boffs on Ground.

    Even when I set the Default on the Skills Page, and the Stations Page. they still reset to their Career specific Abilities instead of the Command ones.

    Yup. Problem still exists.

    On the bright side, the ship powers/Boff stations/load outs changing issue seems to have been fixed. Mine have been stable for long enough that I don't remember the last time they weren't.

    Career: Eng-Delta Rrecruit


    Boffs Affected.

    Standard Away Team should be :

    1: Poka - Eng Android
    2: Denor - Tac Xindi Reptilian
    3: T'Vrell - Sci Vulcan
    4: Kolez - Tac Saurian


    Normally, All 4 are Trained in Command Specialization but not all have it active, and are using them.

    The ones that use it mostly, are Denor and Kolez. but currently Denor is Set to Pilot, so I do not expect him to work.


    They should have the following for their Default Skills on both the Skills Window and the Stations Page, but they reset after any map change.

    Denor:
    Battle Strategies 1
    Strategic Analysis 1
    Return Fire 1
    Sanctuary 2

    Kolez
    Photon Grenade 1
    Strategic Analysis 1
    Return Fire 1
    Sanctuary 2

    Although when I change maps it reverts to what they came with when I bought the Boff

    Denor:
    Battle Strategies 1
    Sweeping Strikes
    Suppressing Fire II
    Stun Grenade 1

    Kolez
    Photon Grenade 1
    Sweeping Strikes
    Suppressing Fire II
    Fire on my Mark II

    Character Thomas Moore@Aucka Lukaum. BOFF Brenda Roberts, Tactical/Command. Default abilities under the "skills" tab are set to Hammer and Anvil, Strategic Analysis, Return Fire, and Plasma Grenade.

    This BOFF is one of the ones that is used frequently in my 2-BOFF away teams, and seems to frequently reset to the same set of basic tactical skills (likely the ones the character was born with). The "default" abilities on the skills tab don't change, but the loaded skills on the stations page do, as well as the abilities that are active in the BOFF's tray on the ground.

    I don't really know when/how this happens or what the mechanism is. In the past it has seemed to be tied to loading in ship loadouts that may have been saved with those older tactical skills active, but I don't think that's the case.

    Post #1 and #2 I pointed out my observations already. But I guess I can repeat some of it.

    Equipping or unequipping items on anything (captain, ship, boff) seems to be a sure fire way to get it to break. As I said, boff ground skills are fine but after changing an equipped item some away team skills will default. This seems to be about the only consistent way I can reproduce it. My away team's skills will seem to be fine and not default for a while but after getting a better item in a ground mission map while doing an episode and equipping it on a boff, my boff skills will sometimes be defaulted after I'm done with the episode.

    Training boffs is broken too. In the skills tab, after training a boff that is assigned to your away team in either a new space or ground skill you'll see some of their ground skills suddenly default. Even if you click a slot that changed and reselect the skill you want it won't update the slot and will still show the icon for the default skill even though the skill you chose is selected. When that happens don't do anything. Go to the stations tab and click the away team slot the boff is in (don't change the boff assigned). You'll see in the upper right of the stations tab that you can't change that boff's skills here with all of the slots blocked out like station slots that aren't used for your ship. Workaround for this issue: go back to the skills tab for that boff and click each ground skill slot and select each ground skill you want them to have, even if the correct skill is already slotted. After you select the final skill you'll see their skills suddenly switch over to what you want them to be and you can then change their skills at the stations tab.

    Edit: All 15 of my characters are affected. But here is 1 I've been working on lately: Nobody@monkeybone13 (yes, I actually named my character 'Nobody'.). Constantly having to check my away team ground skills while working this delta recruit through the story episodes. Skills seem to default only after changing equipment in any way, as previously stated.

    It seems to happen every time she beams down to a new map. I haven't checked beaming between areas on Kobali, yet, because she just got there.

    This happens periodically (but not constantly) to my four away team boffs' ground abilities.

    The Away Team boffs are: Bitey (sci/command), E.E.H. (eng only), Tot (sci/intel), Cat (tac/command).

    When it happens, it happens to all four at once. Never to just one. And it doesn't seem to happen to their space abilities.

    This is affecting me as well, on all of my characters with handle @velsinna. It's very annoying.

    The race/class, rarity or specialisations of the bridge officers don't seem to have any influence

    What does seem to affect the problem is, as the OP proposed, changing equipment or indeed anything to do with bridge officers' status. It happens both on shipboard and ground, although since the patch that fixed the loadouts only the ground skills are being reset.

    The only thing I have found for sure to 'protect' an officer from having their skills reset is if they are actually summoned at the time you look at their status.

    I can confirm that this is happening to both of my characters too. My away team's ground abilities reset to default regularly.

    My main: Florian@sf911
    My delta: Vadis@sf911

    It seems to happen after most ground maps where I use my away team. Very frustrating. A fix would be very appreciated. Thank you in advance for your efforts to this end.

    My Federation Alien Engineer, Trigunn@Arcanumus has this issue with great frequency however it's restricted to ground abilities only now. Also, it will occasionally now only effect my two Tactical Officers: 'Number 13', a Photonic Tac and 'Bubba', a Xindi Reptilian Tac. Pretty much any map change has the potential to reset the skills and it's all but a guarentee now that it will. I've also seen them all reset when changing a single ground ability on a single BOff. Honestly, there's so many places where it can and does randomly reset them that trying to keep track of them all in order to determine which is doing it more than the others would be a full time job re-pleat with spread-sheets.

    While I'm at it, thanks for all the efforts put in so far to fix this issue. I'm looking forward to this bug finally biting it for good in the very near future!

    And this happens to ALL of my characters. Even within the same mission, every time I beam back to my ship, and then beam back to ground, everything resets.
    I completed a 2-man CSE, ISE, and KASE, Optionals included. And I soloed Winter Invasion.

    My away teams became either suicidal, or had a hit too many on the heads.
    They fail to run from explosions, they fail to keep themselves alive (Sci mainly), not to mention the team, in general, their intelligence took a severe dive.
    YES, I have the right skills on them.
    NO, they fail to use them.

    On the other hand: each new map I need to set their newly learned skills.
    For some reason, they revert to their original skill set, on the ground.
    Since I cannot save ground skill like space skill on my BOffs...
    This, sirs, would be a LOVELY add-on for STO.
    That, or fix this bug.

    aye the BOFF skill have to be reset everytime, that system is just as broken as the layout system

    My ground boff skills used to reset every time I entered a new ground instance, but I got it 'fixed' by messing with the abilities and switching boff positions and space loadouts. For a week this worked well, as my boff ground abilities did not reset anymore. However, today it happened again when I entered Kobali Prime. My bridge officers ground abilities got reset again. :(

    It's frustrating to keep switching those abilities back every time, so please fix this asap.

    The only time I've found it doesn't is if a given boff doesn't have any other abilities to reset to (which is the case for all pre-skill-revamp boffs, so old characters aren't going to be reporting this unless they've been trying to swap skills or train in specializations.)

    Anyway, confirmed here as well. Ground boff skills have NEVER saved their settings and have always reset back to some unspecified default when changing maps (most of the time, the definite exception being map changes within a single mission.)

    Still having problems here as well (@mattaukett), seems to be affecting all of the characters on my account and happens intermittently so I'm have trouble pinning down exactly what's causing it (probably not helped by me not checking the settings before and after every map change so I only notice when I go to beam down and it's been reset).

    Only constant I've been able to find is that it seems to pick the same old skills to default to when this happens (e.g. Draw Fire 1/2 on Tac's, Dylovene 1/2 on Sci's, Chroniton Mines 1/2 on Eng's), not sure if this is just a product of where these sit on a data table that cause's it, but it's always these skills and a few others at higher levels that seem to get selected when it does a reset.

    Edit:- Listed the wrong Tac Ground Skill.

    This still isn't fixed... I'm hoping it's on the to-do list above all these 'spelling mistake in mission text' error reports, it's a daily aggravation....

    Getting tired of this as well.

    I set my abilities before beaming down as I had seen the reset again on my eng (set first two ranks to chrono mines AGAIN). I saw another boff was set wrong. I fixed all, checked again before beaming, and saw it was reset again!

    The window is also lagging in the UI or something as I kept trying to change and either the icon didn't change or the whole ability wasn't changing. I was doing this on my live stream so others could see it not working as well.

    It is happening in my first character as well as delta recruit. I haven't been playing my middle characters that much so I haven't noticed or remembered seeing it.

    Happens most often when beaming down, but I also noticed it happens after editing a boff at the tailor.
