As much as I love the look of the new Gal, I cant abide the stats. The 2pc set gives it a turn equal to the command battlecruisers, true. But the Presidio doesnt have to ditch 2 console slots for the privilege. It starts out that way.

It also comes with the amazing enhanced weapon banks, not rapid repairs.

And a vastly superior trait (In all hands on deck, one of the best traits in the whole game)

    And a 4th tac slot - not lumbered with a 5th Eng.

    And inspiration powers.

    And a hangar bay.

And starts off as fleet level - no need for a module.

And command cruisers have their own awesome console set - which includes a universal +projectile dmg console and awesome set bonuses. No need for the questionable worth of AMS here, since 3 of the 4 command console set are great in their own right, and the 4th has such a good bonus its easy to live with. The gal set feels like its playing catch up while the command cruisers roar ahead.

And on top all that they have a smaller (read: more effective) crew size.

As it stands I see no reason to purchase the Gal over the Presidio, or to use the Gal over the Presidio if both are owned. The only counter points the Gal can offer is a tiny fraction more hull at fleet lvl, and the weapon system efficiency command. The latter is easily inferior to inspiration mechanic alone.

I'll pick up the Gal, sure. But only because itll be included in the bundle to get the D'Dex and Negvar. Even then, I desperately hope the Neg gets a battle cloak, otherwise I see no advantage over the TyGokor - its the same problem as Gal vs Presidio, though at least the Neg has better turn, and isnt lumbered with rapid repairs.

D'Dex looks great though - its got a niche at least. Whats up with the turn being worse than the T5 versions though/

Are people seriously complaining about a the Galaxy compared to an actual Dedicated Command ship?

As well, did anyone really think that the Andromeda or its cousins in other factions would outshine a Cryptic original which both in-game and in reality is newer?

Took a perfectly good pure-support ship, one iconic from the series that was the least violent of the franchise, and slapped bigger guns on it. Almost identical layout to the Eclipse now, just more pewpewlazors in a game that has WAY too many of those as it is. What a waste.

No one gets the perfect ship. Simply the state of the game.

In fact, Galaxy fans practically get some high-class treatment. I'm not looking to argue with you, but to lay out two nice facts:

    - Until today, no non-Specialized T6 ship that wasn't a Promotional ship ever got a Hybrid Lt.Cmdr. seat. Samsar, Sheshar, and JHSS. 1 was a grind ship, the other 2 were costly Promotional ships. All others were limited to Lt Hybrid seats. It was expected that we wouldn't see such a thing on a normal purchase ship until much later.

    - Until today, there wasn't a ship with a console that has the passive ability to permanently increase maximum power levels while equipped. Sure, some could with certain Warp/Singularity Cores, or temporarily reach it with OsS or other abilities, but the former is costly and the latter is exclusive to certain ships.

The T6 Galaxy has enough teeth to close the gap between it and the Odyssey and Guardian (assuming full use of ship-specific consoles). Sure it might not match them, and definitely will not match a T6 Odyssey, but that's expected and fair. It's a solid alternative ship.

And in comparison to the KDF, at least Galaxy fans got an actual console set.

Romulans get a solid ship; though it's unlikely it will see use of any Command skills beyond the Ensign level, if at all.

But that Grind or Lobi Kobali ship is still better than something they expect me to fork out money on two different ships for just to get a decent turn rate.

You guys have GOT to be kidding me. So you just half-TRIBBLE it?

WArmaker you've been around long enough to know that this is the general attitude at cryptic towards the KDF, or at least the general attitude in the area's that can actually make stuff happen, what more do you expect?

Despite a the lack of a set on it though and the crew issue that all large KDF ships share thanks to a totally borked crew mechanic it looks like a fine ship.

That said I also noticed no cloaks were mentioned on the DD and Negh stats, at least if they were they're well hidden.

I would have preferred if there where some Torpedo Spread or Energy Weapon Overload power included, instead of more "tankyness".
(something like the Romulan Singularity Harness "Plasma Hyperflux" power)

But that's only a minor note. The most important thing is that the Galaxy will finally be a ship that's fun to fly!

    Indeed!!! :)

Ditching the awful rapid repairs on the andromeda for enhanced weapon banks (or anything that isnt rapid repairs) would be good too.

Dont get me wrong, I love the skins. But stats wise the numbers just dont add up.

Besides, the Gal effectively costs more. Both start out at 3,000 zen - but the Gal will need fleet ship module to get to 11 consoles.

It makes little difference to me. I love the looks of both ships. But I know which one I'm picking up at the next sale.

Besides theres still hope. The neghvar could have a battle cloak. The console could rock this world - an always on increase to subsystem power caps? Depending on the specifics that sounds yummy.

So as I mentioned in the previous thread, my new Delta Recruit will be a Galaxy Captain.

First question, this T6 variant comes with the 3 consoles? Or do I need to by the Galaxy R and then the T6 in order to get the bonus?

Second, and my main question. This compared to the Galaxy X.. Is there any info on whether or not the Galaxy X will be upgraded as well to reflect these new stats? I know its a separate ship entirely, but I really really wanted to give that ship a go..

    Please advise.

    1. The T6 variant only comes with 1 of the 3 consoles from the set. For the other 2 you need the T5 Galaxy Class Exploration Cruiser and the T4 Venture Class Exploration cruiser. The other 2 consoles come from each of them.

    2. The Galaxy-X is not being touched at this time, so it will be as it has always been.

I find only the ships skin appealing.
What do you like so much about them?

First of all, I'm a Galaxy fan. And a classic cruiser fan, without stuff like cloaks, hangars, DHC and such.

Then, there is old Galaxy setup:

    XX
    XXXX
    TRIBBLE
    X
    XX

    2/5/3

Compared to the new Galaxy setup:

    TRIBBLE
    XXXX
    TRIBBLE
    XX
    X

    3/4(5)/3

    I think it's pretty much self-explanatory.

I'll have the ship I love without feeling like I'm punishing and gimping my team because of it. It won't trip over itself because of too many engineering abilities. It has teeth...sufficient teeth. It's flexible. It gets a Lt.Cmdr level hybrid, which is very good.
What's not to like? I just wanted a proper, solid and usefull classic Starfleet cruiser and I got one, I didn't want some godship where I press a button and everything around me explodes in agony.

So they first let you buy the ship, then buy a fleet token, then buy a T5-U token, then buy ANOTHER ship, fleet token and T5-U token before you can finally fly the Galaxy as requested...

...and you call that doing something right?

I think you have some math off here, or maybe I am missing something; your post isn't that clear to me.

Where I see it, in order to get the full bonuses set, you would need to buy the first two ships in the set, get their consoles; buy the new ship, train it to T5 mastery; buy the fleet module, and then get the Fleet Version, and train that to T4 mastery. Where in this do we need 2 T5-U tokens and an extra Fleet module?
Unless you're referring to upgrading the previous versions, in which case you would still need only one T5-U token, since when you upgrade the non-fleet version, upgrading the fleet version becomes free, and account-wide.

If I am off, or misunderstanding, please clarify for. Also, please understand that I am not here to argue, only to gain clarity.

Plenty of people want more well designed science ships in the game. The Dyson set was a big TRIBBLE up in that department.

Unfortunately, they have to pander to the masses (Tacs and engineers) over and over before paying attention to science.

It's... the exact same ship. They swapped an engineering console for a tac, made the ensign universal, and nudged the tactical boff to Lt. Cmdr. It's still a waddling moose of a ship with insufficient tactical boff options. If instead of the ensign they'd made the lieutenant engineer into a universal you might be able to shoehorn in useful boff powers, but as it is the changes are a whole lot of meh.

Funny, cuz escorts have been neglected even more, especially on the c-store. Cruisers and Sci at least have more than 1 T6 ship. All we have is the phantom and it would make a better garbage scow than tactical ship.

With the broken and still not fixed commander seat, it's even more useless than ever.

If they would just put one of the new Fed science ship's stats into some kind of Gorn model, it would be something. The only ship with a commander sci is the free Breen ship and it doesn't have sensor analysis nor secondary deflector. If nothing else, at least add those to the ONLY T6 sciency ship we have!!

Not really, Im not in the DPS channels - in fact I usually fly a supporting guardian or my beloved intrepid. I'm just saying I tend to use all bar one of the eng console slots as dumping grounds for uni consoles, like tachyokinetic converter.

Apart from conductive rcs console (awesome, but one only) and maybe an enhanced neutronium, I dont believe eng consoles are worth slotting.

Perhaps I should rephrase: 4 Sci or tac. At least with a fourth Sci you can slot PartGen or ShHp consoles.

As it stands though, the Galaxy and Neg lack a LtCom or better Sci slot. Which is why I thought +1 tac was good - theres no need for +Grav or +PartG on a ship with no decent sci skills, and theres already 3 sci slots for +ShHP if youre so inclined..

Most players, myself included, would gladly accept another tac console.

And if not people could use it for a uni console, freeing up an Eng or Sci slot.

What are we gonna do with a 5th eng - more neutronium? Diminishing returns is a killer. An RCS? same, only even worse thanks to the iceberg turn rate.

I'm pretty happy with what they did with the Galaxy as well, and I'm planning to buy.

When I was playing in STO's closed beta, my dream ship was the Galaxy-class. However, reaching it was a major disappointment; it was the first upgrade ship I had that actually felt like a downgrade and my Dakota heavy cruiser fared much better in what-was-then-PvP by comparison. Vor'chas, by contrast, were nothing short of amazing.

My love for it died, and I never dared touch it again. Eventually I did pick up the Odyssey and things for cruisers had improved enough to make playing the Odyssey enjoyable.

Meaning that if I pick up the Galaxy now, with its stunning model overhaul... I'll actually have the ship I was so hyped to captain 5 years ago.

That's... nice. I'm still pretty much in love with the sad little Luna-class... but the Galaxy-class was why I hoped to play STO in the first place. I want to play it. I'm eager to try it out again. I'm okay with the stats as presented too. Part of me feels that adding hangars to the T6 Galaxy would be appropriate considering its shuttlebay facilities, but I'm not looking for the flightdeck cruiser playstyle.

I'm thinking about ways the T6 Galaxy could stand out, and the idea that came to my mind was to go in the same direction as the science-oriented Odyssey. Maybe Gorngonzolla could consider adding Sensor Analysis to it to represent the huge amount of science facilities that ship had along with the present sci console layout?

I'm just saying it like that. Truth is, I'm pretty happy with what I'm seeing.

The starship trait and unique console will be missing from the fleet version if you don't have the C-Store version.
Not sure about the Andromeda skin, but if current practice is any indication - the fleet variant should have access to the skin.

Also the benefit is actually flying the ship now as there is no fleet version yet. :P

    1. Fleet Intels?

    2. Cloak for KDF & Rom?

    3. Saucer separation?

On an Odyssey this is a cruel joke because of the poor AI. If it ever gets fixed, please make sure it ports over to the Odyssey & Galaxy/R as well. Also, it needs a UI, and carrier commands.

    Actually, that's not true.

If you don't own the Regent, and you buy a Fleet Assault Cruiser, you don't get the Regent skin with it. You've still got to buy that separately. I ponder whether a simple Fleet Ship Purchase will be only the revamped skins, and not the new ones.

Please reconsider the 5th ENG consol for the KDF and ROM Version those ships are Battlecruiser and Warbirds build for War so a 4th TAC consol would be the natural choice.
No Need to gim the Fleet Version with a 5th ENG Slot for universal consols.

    Thank you.
