It's kind of curious, since it states it is affected by Starship Projectile Weapons...but then says that it's affected by Antiproton boosts (AP Tac consoles, the 2pc Obelisk if somebody were running that)...but that the skill listed there for Projectile Weapons, leaves me wondering if it is affected by Projectile Specialization or Energy Specialization...does any Projectile gear apply (2pc KHG/AMACO, the Defense Platform, etc, etc, etc)...

dealing no kinetic dmg but gets boosted by projectile training? no kinetic dmg but resisted by shields as it were kinetc? aye, things stay interesting at least lol...

Makes you just wonder if they took the time to actually think through all these possible issues before coming out with this thing.

AP Torpedo...AP...not Kinetic...no innate 75% Kinetic Shield Hardness...
...course, there's no telling what gearing/skills were in place for that image to get a handle on what the actual base is.
It's also kind of trippy, because not only is it AP damage - but according to the image it's got the AP +20 CrtD. So that's actually a Rare with [CrtD]x2[CrtH]...wonder what it picks up at VR and UR.

A mix of typical Cryptic tooltips and some copypasta, eh?
But there's all sorts of questions involved around such a hybrid weapon...just how much is it AP and just how much of it is it a Torpedo. Could just be a Torpedo doing AP damage, but otherwise a Torpedo...kind of like we have various Energy Weapons that do a type of damage without the typically associated proc...
...kind of like AP, not all AP has the +20 CrtD...can never remember which is which when it comes to the other APs out there, lol. Wait, let me drop down to Jenolan.
Fluidic drop the +CrtD for the Repel/Physical damage.
Voth drop the +CrtD for the Damage Debuff.
So it could just be AP Kinetic...er...who knows, yeah? Lol...

yeah probably, writing skills are not within their strenghts i assume lol. in the best case it's just a kinetic torpedo dealing ap dmg, sort of like kbc but the other way round. and wai ...
in the worst we'll get an over and over bugged mega-op torp to which in comparison old neutronic ts3 looks like a my-lil-pony flashmob ...
i don't even think i want this game on my hard drive anymore if this is the TRIBBLE they will pull, its presence is actually starting to offend me. no torp could ever be as good as this, because if it deal energy damage, its not dealing with the near immunity to knetic damage shields come with. the only torp that could ever be better is one that also deals pure energy damage.
they make an energy torp, that can be boosted by the same tac consoles as energy weapons, hell it might even benefit from weapons power levels, but it would kill them to do something about the innate knetic resist shields have. /cryptic logic
with that much base damage, + all the energy boosters out there, why would you do anything but a BO+ APtorp+ some CRF? fool proof spike damage that would make SS3 blush.
more intentionally pvp breaking additions, more planed obsolescence to an obscene degree, and too many suckers and grind addicts that eat this TRIBBLE up so they can kill npcs moar gud in this race to the bottom that is post DR sto.
whats funny is that its linked to the CE, a thing with super high energy res, but much lower kinetic res, so its always a good idea to bring torps to the mission. so, better make a torp that, wait for it, deals energy damage! is this the most counter intuitive thing they have ever done?
indeed i'm thinking about making a bug thread before it's released lol ... as it stands they really should throw some eyes on it before it gets released. even more while they just fixed neutronic ts ^^...
As soon as it comes out I'll do some testing, see if it gets reflected by the Multidimensional Graviton Shield. If it doesn't, queues will die again, and T5U channel will introduce another restriction.
The tooltip shown in today's Dev Blog is approximately the same item that will be rewarded, but the fine details are still undergoing one last tuning pass. It was supposed to be done before the Blog was published, but unfortunately we failed to hit that deadline. We'll try and get an updated/final tooltip into the blog as soon as it's available (should be today).
So this torp is essentially a giant single antiproton cannon with narrow arc that can only fire every 8 seconds or so?
That's a really good way to look at it. With a few additional unique variations:
- Does not benefit from Weapon Power
- Does not suffer from Range drop-off
- Benefits from Torpedo Combo Abilities (Torpedo Spread, High Yield, etc)
- Enhanced by any items/bonuses that are "+Antiproton Damage" but not "+Beam/Cannon Damage"
- NOT Enhanced by +Torpedo Damage items/bonuses
- Deals Antiproton Damage, so is not subject to the same Strengths/Resists as a standard Kinetic Torpedo (this includes the Rademaker console that was asked about, though a standard Feedback Pulse WILL reflect this Torpedo)
Also, aside from all of that, it's really freakin' pretty. Seriously - you guys should see this thing in action, it's gorgeous.
"I'm not big on telepaths myself. I'm not big on guns either. But if everyone else has them, I want to make sure I can get my hands on the biggest one I can."
If they really want to tank there game so bad... just sit back and watch.
Its great entertainment, forget your notions of them ever fixing this thing.
Sit back and watch it burn its a lot more fun.
Burn baby burn. Torpedos that act like energy weapons... perfect.
The single array that acts like a torpedo wasn't all that popular so why not try the other way around.
This is to good. haha
Well it's not gonna hurt fbp noobs so I would somewhat question even putting this on my torp bomber build to be honest. But what he just said I came back to space pvp not even really expecting to get balanced competitive play. I came back to help finish it off. Again guys ground pvp has much less grind costs FAR less to build toons with options. And overall is way more balanced than space is minus what's on the ground issues list.
I saw that but at this point I am no longer shocked by anything that gets released into this game. I have never flown a dread or cruiser but seeing all this **** in game almost makes me want to build something like Finn has just to TRIBBLE people off in a different way. Tanking too much
Well when you think about it clearly they are running out of ideas and are pretty much combining and cannibalizing existing mechanics across all aspects of a build. The command modules on ground really went heavy into this aspect. In fact I would even suggest an engy on ground run nothing but command modules cause they trump all the engy kit modules.
2 years ago I would have looked at this torp and said to myself are you ****ing crazy? Now when I read this I am like okay didn't even give my monitor the wtf stare I would have usually! :P
Hey Bort could you do us all a favor release the Quad cannons from that captain rank z store defiant to allow us to equip more than 1 HAHA

x=6630. Base damage if you have 5 +AP console equipped. Just throw in Alpha and Omega + CrtDs to see the stars.
And that's MK XIII rare.

The only issue would be the high performers in DBB/Omnis, but those tend to be rarer than the former two groups anyway.
A FBP reflect crit off that would be awesome.
Problem is what reflects it.
It is a torpedo, the tooltip states shields absorb most of the damage, while the damage it deals is energy,
Graviton Shield or FBP then?
Enough is enough, goodbye guys, it was a pleasure to PvP on your side.
I hope Star Trek Excalibur comes out as soon as this crappy mix of mechanics dies.

Drop in there guys, let them hear your voice. This torp just can't make it in PvP in that state.
Its going to... why argue.

. FBP reflects it. YEAH, a Torpedo reflected like energy damage!
Next, Quantum Dual Heavy Cannons MK XIV [Acc]x2 [CrtD] [Spr]
