okay lets put it that way:

    qualified + unexperienced - well.

bad job training from company. - well.

trial and error way of getting to training and experience. - well.

    but:

we have tribble test server. if you watch it closely you will see that everything that was bugged yesterday, was already bugged 3weeks on tribble. even the UI clicking mess was there. even there some ships didnt quite get the secondary deflectors and such.

so we have that trial and error area: its called tribble test server.

its like having a qility check area, where the person lets through every beer bottle with a mouse in it. its pointles to have tribble if things are broken and get released KNOWN AS BROKEN.

thats what many players dont get, and me neither. i dont get it. they fixed the event omega in 4hrs. i was really suprised that they fixed it after 4hrs live, but not in 3 weeks of tribble testing!!!

i dont like to be mad at people, but the sheer amount of ... "inexperiencedness" combined with latest "anti-customer" changes to milk money + the latest attitude of "its our game, we do it our way" combined with that ... low ... quality of work?

its just not good, and those habbits DO NOT DERIVE FROM PWs MARKETING AREA. its esp the devs having this attitude while completely incompetent at working.

(the milking thing surely comes from above, and wouldnt be so bad if the game had proper quality coding devs.)

No... It was arrogance... You demonstrated an entitlement mentality by demanding formal apologies and explanations for a some, albeit dramatic, patch day problems...

    It was beyond reasonable...
The entitlement is strong in these forums...

Then you never played City of Heroes. For nearly 8 years at least one server was grayed out for a couple hours sporadically the first day an event started or a new issue launched and players gathered on the forums to mock rage posters like the OP.

Actually I did, during the launch and for a few months after. Ultimately it didn't hold my interest very long. The character creation was more fun to me than the game. My favorite character I created was a dang near perfect Vash the Stampede look-alike, minus the coat. He was a blaster/assault rifle of course.

Have long time players become complacent and too accepting of what some would consider subpar performance because of developing a tolerance over the years; and does this manifest itself with the subconscious need to mock those complaining about that subpar performance as some form of defense mechanism?

    Yes.

In other news - I find forums restrictions that don't allow answers of 10 or less characters very anoying and won't even bother to fix the spelling mistakes in this sentence. Take that, soulless minions of orthodoxy!

    That word is entitlement.

Is "entitlement" ultimately what is left after you subtract industry standards in quality from player expectations in quality? :P

    What is reasonable ?

Shall I put things in this way .
You buy some LCD TV 50" who's working like Cryptics STO some of functions aren't working some work and some are in the middle and with major breakdowns.
What will you do with this TV ?
    Something reasonable or unreasonable ?
If you go to support who's not working and see the message with explanation that you can't repair, change or get your money back for this TV until your life ends.

So WHO have to be reasonable ?

This is probably going to be a internal apology at Cryptic Studios. Even if we know that Cryptic has a bad track-record when it comes to large updates and releases.
I mean, at any company someone is always going to be blamed, and people who think that Cryptic will just shroud of this is naive.

There is always a guy who is in charge of the development of the patch, and he or she needs to answer why this was such a mess in the hierarchy.

I would speculate that the devs never got around to everything in time, there was a Deadline that could not be overseen (It is named anniversary for a reason) and then you have sickness, vacations during the holidays and so forth.

With that said, I hope they will "crack some skulls" and make sure that there will be improvements so this mess will be one with the past and not the future.

As player who watched all 5 Anniversaries , I think that STO community of players have right to know whats going on with you ppl. in PW&C , do you have anything to say about magnificent 5th Anniversary debacle?

I am asking STO community of players for good of this game to unite and put the pressure with any means (like Players Strike) until this torturing of Star Trek idea stops and change in to something better if not then cease to exist.

PS.It wasn't Anniversary it was GAME SHUTDOWN !!!!
It is not rage, it is call for inside change !

well my account was reprogramed and my boff powers removed so I made a online crime report to the online crime report center here in the states then mad a bug report that thare are no inactive boff powers at all and the ones that my crew have now are not what thay had and an account help request that stuff I have invested time and money in game and want a fix or refund with a warning that the police will be nocking to investagate and if things are not made right thay will come to question both side that's all I need to say about pressure

unreal. soo many problems with this game. my son talked me into letting him upgrade to lifetime and i was considering doing it also, but not now. i was in beta and played at launch. watched the game for years playing on and off. the game looks good but the space combat is weak and the ground missions are old school.

this game is 5 years old but seems very outdated. why so many variations of gear for ships and away officers? why are so many lock boxes dropping? why give us costume dress-ups for the 5th? the answer to the last 2 questions is to make money. but why give us a broken update with major lag and issues?

LMAO I really enjoyed this year's anniversary and I never even started the game! Thanks for the vids and the amusing posts folks!

growing with sales fraud it will crash when the sales fraud catches up and it will as the holodeck is in the states the companies are in the states and im in the states and my account was reprogramed and boff powes I had deleted no finding them in inactive locations im expected to pay dil and ec to get back what the update took from my account that's stealing and if the agreement says its not and im getting no refund its bumped up to fed level sales fraud

thay should have realized this free to play model makes tutching accounts and reprograming them easily a crime I may not get my money back but justice will be served no legal agreement can bypass criminal justice in the states

Obviously ppl. do not read subscription contracts , and they are unfair to the clients .
But there is one thing that you can't sell in any part of this planet it is Faulty Service.
We are Users of Cryptic Services we don't need to own anything , the problem is that lot us give money for bad services , so you can deduce what went wrong.

I guess some folks are just new to this whole MMO thing...

Some of these issues aren't about bugs or patches. They CHOSE to not incorporate the Commander level skills and took them away from those of us who had them in spades.

If that was going to happen, it would have happened after the launch of the Winter Event which also saw its new content fail. And yet here we are again and it was even worse, I found major problems with every element of the new content (I didn't try the new Romulan missions).

I've played MMOs since the early Days of Everquest and I've never seen anything as bad as I saw yesterday.

Yes, I've seen some that constantly crashed the servers and disallowed play completely- THOSE ARE NOT AS BAD AS WHAT WE JUST EXPERIENCED. System down issues generally trace to a single point of failure, often not even connected to game code. Yesterday's failures were everywhere across unconnected systems from mini-games to basic mission structure to the return of old bugs.

It was by any measure horrible, and that people will excuse it because "that's how MMOs work" will only make it more common.

The one saving grace here is that perhaps they did learned something and unlike the Winter Event quickly followed up with a patch. I'll see how effective that was later today.

It is just like installing an operating system on your computer, and them buying a bunch of programs for the computer. You don't own that system. You don't own Photoshop. You don't own STO. You are buying the licence to USE this system, and buying the licence to USE these programs.

Prophecy is starting to be true, Delta Ri$sing is the beggining of the end.

Cryptic sell this game to some Company capable of making this game playable (thats like 99% companies out there) because you failed so many times. Let the others do what you cant. I am so sad for all those Lifetimers and their money. You don't deserve legacy of star trek franchise.

Lag in a MMO the day after a gigantic patch! Everyone, quick, take videos of this incredibly unique phenomenon so we have proof to show to other gamers, who would not believe us if we simply told them what is happening!

Yes, Cryptic could apologize for the trouble with the patches.
Yes, Cryptic could move quicker to fix issues.
Yes, Cryptic's QA could be a lot better.

Yes, people should stop complaining about FREE GIFTS.
Yes, people shouldn't 'up-in-arms' at the first sign of an issue.
Yes, people should take time to read through patch notes and instructions before taking to the forum.

Alas, we don't live in a perfect world!

I liked DR and it's plentiful content.
ALL my Bridge Officer's abilities are where they should be, even the retrained ones!
I have no issue or problem using lower tier ships in DR.
I also laughed at Cryptic's dig at the 'DR is the best expansion' signature users in the game. Nice touch whoever wrote the dialogue!! Made me smile!!
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

An LCD TV 50" isn't going to have 100k people trying to use all of it's functions at the same time.

So yes you are still being unreasonable, and come back with a better analogy. :P
