Borg Lockbox in bound?

newromulan1newromulan1 Member Posts: 2,229
We have most of the big bad boys from the Delta Quadrant, all that is really left is the Borg. So is it the next lock box or the 2nd next?

You know you want it!! Cause I want it.

It may be the only time that I throw money their way.

Geko slipped that there is another Xindi and another Delta lockbox planned, I think.

Though I would be positively shocked if we didn't see a Borg Co-Op lockbox. And if you want it to look like assimilated Borg, you'd probably have to run it with the Borg set and visuals enabled.

I remember waaay back when the DOOM thread first came into existence, and in my first (of many) posts in it I referred to the Borg lockbox.

If it does happen, I will most certainly take credit...not sure if that's good or bad...

I personally would not mind a Borg Co-Op lockbox, as long as there aren't Spheres/Cubes as options, unless they are flagged with some kind of cosmetic effect that would allow the player to more easily know which way their ship is facing at any given time.

If we ever get a Borg Collective lockbox, then it is a sign of the end times....for STO.

Well, you could solve that with these if you redefined turnrate/movement, I guess, such that these ships strafe and use a rotate hull special ability as a kind of "rotate shield frequency" hull heal. All strafe and no turn would solve the issue, I guess.

Personally, I'm really hoping that they make the infected complexion a full body thing soon, since they said it was in the works, but i would definitely drop the money to try and unlock all the goodies of a Borg lockbox. More so, if it added more assimilated parts for my ships and liberated Borg Captains. I'm curious to see what they would do for a ground set though.

Besides, I already got my Liberated Borg Captain. That's good enough for me. :D

Years ago, we joked how the end of the game will be when Borg Lockboxes come about.

Now we have playable Species 8472 Bioships.

The next Logical Step of Abdsurdity are Borg ships (Cooperative or whatever, or a.k.a. Fed v4.o-I forgot what count we're at now storyline).

After that, I assume playable Q will be the next Logical Step of Absurdity.

Vaadwaur are the next lockbox. It's pretty obvious. They are the most detailed faction of Delta Rising and pretty much everything about them screams lockbox.

After that, I wouldn't be surprised to see Borg in 2015, or 2016 at the latest. It's one of the most talked about lockbox ideas, it's definitely going to happen. Mark my words. Probably won't be flying cubes, but spheres and probes are a definite possibility. Cryptic might also throw in some new geometric-based designs in there.

If there is a Vaadwaur outfit released with it... I am getting that. I want that backpack.

Heck we even get to fly a Vaadwaur ship briefly already, so the playable version already exists in game. And they don't seem to be using standard polarons, and that Constriction Anchor is tailor-made to be a clicky console. I'm sure they were ready to lockbox before DR launched, but the Devs didn't want to spoil them just yet.

I was thinking more of augmenting my "Combat Ops" Odyssey uniform. Currently using the Engie backpack since its really the only one that works. The Jem'Hadar Backpack looks more like a communications rig than something to store gear in.

If Cryptic ever put in the Enterprise MACO outfit... Oh man the options...

My bet on the next box would also be Vaadwaur. Also I don't think they want to release a Borg Lockbox but much rather a Borg Cooperative player faction. But first they must get their size & scope problem under control; space should not evoke claustrophobia and sitting in a ship as massive as a borg cube makes you bump into space borders just by logging in to the game :P

I don't see a Borg Cooperative faction being released. That would cut into the novelty of the Playable Liberated Borg that Lifers have access to, and Lifers would rage.

The only thing I'd want would be a classic Borg cube (none of this "plasma light" Cooperative nonsense for me) .

... but then again there are the size issues which would be maddening either if the cube was reduced in size or if it was not, so it's Doom either way ...

I think they have material for several more Delta lockboxes. A Co-op Sphere, Vaadwaur Interdictor Cruiser, Hierarchy and APU ships, Kazon Cruiser and Carrier for T5 consolation prizes.

Borg lockbox... eh not sure it would make enough money really.

I think it would do better as an expansion.

I mean I bet Alice Krige would be inexpensive.

So yes, that will be the end of the game for me.

There are already to many alien ships in starfleet. Alien ships belong to their race/fraction.

Now I want a Borg Lockbox more than ever just to see if people in the STO forums are willing to walk the walk and leave the game over it.

Or whether or not they'll cry about it for a little bit before getting over it like every other lockbox.

that and if it turns out to be just another lockbox what the fans will come up with to be the new sign of the end times. :P

It may be the only time that I throw money their way.

I believe the current box was called also the "Law & Order" box.

So the next probably contains something for the "criminals". Perhaps a choice of these:
    • Another Kazon ship perhaps (for the mirror equivalent type of ship)
    • Hierarchy
    • Malon
    • Vaadwaur (might be better in yet another, seperate lockbox)
    • APA ship or what they are called. The robot soldier pyramid ships...

Now that I think about it, there could be 2 more Delta lockboxes:

"Crime & Economics" is Malon and Hierarchy
"Soldiers & Warfare" is Vaadwaur and the APUs

The time, where earth space is full with Borg cubes and probes, Cryptic gone to far.

How can it be a random space MMO if it's full of Star Trek ships.

It's not like we suddenly start flying a Babylon 5 Human Destroyer or a Minbari ship, or zip around in the Millenium Falcon.
