I believe you are wrong. To get credit for ToI, you must complete all 10 waves. If you notice you are not getting credit for waves, it is already too late to bother switching instances.

Also, there have been a couple times I never saw the popup window showing me the rewards for a particular wave, but it would seem I still got credit for that wave since I got the final reward, so jumping instances because it looks like you didn't get the reward just means you are reducing your chances to do damage for the next wave, which will likely result in your being DQ'ed for the Final reward.

I actually came in at wave 8 once and still got credit for ToI... but earlier today I did all 10 waves with rewards and definatly did damage to the queen at the end but did not get a complete, something is wonky with the event.

So the argument is I have twenty toons and the grind is excessive..

    Isn't having twenty toons excessive?

If Cryptic has this plan on tribble and planning this a week before, wouldn't it be nice if they told people more publicly, rather than let people waste time grinding on different characters? As has been pointed out numerous times in these forums, most players don't come to these threads.

info like this does tend to trickle though, most ppl in chat seem to know about the upcoming fix

I finally got to 10 completions on one character, of course it took 18 tries at the event so only slightly better then 50%. I still have no clue how it is counting participation though.

Many times I have been there from before the one min call though the end shooting everything and have not gotten credit. On the other hand, for giggles I walked into one on wave 8, sat there and did nothing till the queen spawned, shot her once and got credit. I have had runs where I got credit but no ornament rewards, others where I have gotten tons of ornament rewards but no credit.

I only plan on unlocking stuff for two characters so the number of runs required isn't a problem for me, but the rather seemingly randomness of the credit for doing the event is incredibly frustrating.

After Thursday, it's an account unlock. Who can't wait 3 days?

I have had no problems getting credit for mission. Did you wait for timer before leaving area?:)

Yeah, that's how I ended up finding about it. I don't always check trouble notes. How about this, Cyptic sends tribble notes to every in game account in mailboxes? Just an idea.

I had been hearing about this for a while but it didn't happen to me till yesterday. There was no reward or acknowledgment of completion(I had 9 done and this one would have been my 10th, giving me the accolade, so I was counting). There were about ten people in my instance and nobody got it. We waited, and nothing happened.

I guess there might be a bug then. Which I know there are some every now and then I get invisable snowmen attacking me lol.:)

It is truly amazing how inspired Cryptic was for using Cryptic as their name. MMO companies with maybe the rare exception are cryptic about their gameplay mechanics, future plans etc. Although, Cryptic has betrayed this ideal like when they let City of Heroes players view the actual numbers when playing the game or Engineering Reports in STO.

It truly is a perfect name for them.

That being said, Tides is one of the best things they've come up with(when it's working properly). It's got great replay value. And there's no limit on players, unlike PvE games. You can do it by yourself or with 20 other people. Lots of opportunities for different strategies depending on how many players are involved. A lot of fun.

I like Tides of Ice. I play for fun and the holiday trinkets. I managed to get the accolade for completing it 10 times on one toon without even trying. I will still continue to play after this Thursday even though I will not need to anymore.

Not sure why people are complaining since the event lasts until January 15, 2015. Even if the unlock was not account wide, there is plenty of time to do Tides of Ice 10 times on each toon even people a lot of toons.

For people with an excessive number of toons, that's a personal choice to have so many. Just like wanting to get the warp / singularity core for every single toon.

If you had 20 to 50 toons, then you would have to do 200 to 500 Tides of Ice to get it unlocked for each character. There are very few people that would think that is not too excessive. Even if they didn't run it for the Warp Core, there are still useful items like the Cold Kit modules.
The Cold Kit modules are just reflavoured regualar kits.

Of course getting it on 20-50 characters is excessive - but do you need them on all 20-50?
How much use do you expect to get out of these items if you have to split those uses across 20-50 characters? Do you really just want to have stuff for the sake of having it?

Anyway, it's not realy important to discuss that anymore, since there is a major improvement for it coming - and I certanily welcome it.

Take heart, it only takes three solid days to get this unlocked.

hadnt realised that there was only 4 hours or so in a day.

considering that across the course of the event the tides of ice will start nearly 1000 not including the extras from the random event at quarter to the hour, there is plenty of time.

10 ToI is not bad and it's fun.

Now if this was a per SP for mains/alts everyone would be busting out their alts for play again lol

If only the damn mission would complete properly & give rewards but it's friggin bugged. I played it numerous times last night & tonight, same result, no end reward, so no credit toward the 10 required for unlock. ARGHHHH!
Plus the clocks/times for all scheduled missions is screwed up. Last night, Fast & Flurious wasn't running at all.

Still having an issue with this... completed it twice - good groups, all dine, queen down before timer ended, get the rewards, saw the 'tides of ice' popup and checked my accolades to find... nothing.

How am I supposed to claim the warp core if I can't get credit for completing the Tides of Ice mission?
