This expansion was well done and we should applaud Cryptic for all the hard work they put into it. Most of these complaints come off as petty and we should pay them no mind. This is a great time to play STO! Don't forget to buy awesome stuff in the C-Store!

Let me try something else ! :D

As far as feedback goes, the OP is completely worthless. He provides no details about what aspects of the expansion/game are enjoyable and why. He then summarily discounts all negative feedback as doom and naysaying.

It seems more like an attempt to bait people into flaming than anything else. I mean, who in their right mind would drop that generalized statement here and expect anything else ?

And yes, the opposite of what the OP said is worthless feedback too.

Cool I see that too, but Delta Rising is the best expansion ever and the players love it.
The dress is gold and white. Over 70% people says so. When viewed from a certain screen angle it appears blue and black. The dress displayed on amazon is a blue and black dress, but it's not the same dress in the picture. If you're seeing blue & black you're slightly colored blind. A normal upright screen = white and gold.

Sure, we can only control ourselves, not the posting habit of others. But what little control there is, use it and love it. ;)

YEAH this is a GREAT expansion overall if you are an ABUSED BATTERED WIFE in a metaphor thats how Cryptic treated the playerbase....This game for you and GOOD for you.

Dude, no. We...we don't make metaphors about domestic violence. That's a serious thing and you should never equalize it to playing video games.

Not undermining your dissatisfaction, but you don't act like playing a free 2 play game is like domestic abuse. Or unwanted sexual intercourse. Two serious issues that are not like anything you can experience in a consumer/business relationship.

Just a heads up. Carry on with your forum activities.

I have learned that there are really only two types of threads on this forum. One is the B*tching thread. Someone in the game has a microscopic inconvenience and comes to the forum all wound up. They ooze into a new thread and decide the way to solve this problem is to:
    -insult the developer and publisher
    -insult the marketing
    -insult the game itself
-insult everything else if there's room
If it weren't for the profanity filter, these threads would probably get nasty.

The other thread type is this one. The Anti-b*tching Thread. It's noble to think that you can bring a little sliver of sunshine to someone's cloudy day. It's gotta be soul-crushing to come to work every day to find out that your so-called "fans", or at least your own dedicated userbase, hates you and thinks you're incompetent - moreso than the day before. It's a wonder the game still has a staff updating it. I would have quit the project years ago.

But opening a thread with the intention of adding some positivity post-expansion or after an unusual number of hate threads, while I can't say unequivocally that it's a BAD idea, it is such easy pickings for those who are part of the first group that want "fanboys" to troll.

I personally enjoy the new expansion. Despite the odd hiccup in the programming, which literally happens to every video game ever, I've found all the actual systems to be good, competent concepts with slightly varying levels of successful execution. People complain about the Reputation projects and the new R&D, but I prefer them to the old way of getting that stuff. (For those that don't know, the old way was "Go to a specific STF that rewards you what you want to earn, hope it drops and hope someone doesn't outroll you for it", and "make Hyposprays for a week and then craft Aegis"). The new environments, UI updates, and notably the voice acting of Robert Picardo and Ethan Phillips, all very positive things about the expansion.

A couple of fair detractors are the skill point nerf, which seems to suffer from a lack of satisfactory un-nerfing. I could probably have maxed out Delta Alliance rep before reaching level 60, considering how close both accolades are in my log, chronologically. There's also a sad lack of people playing the instance "dungeons". Whether it's just lazy players who don't want to use the rep system simply putting the upgrades to use to get shiny level XIV gear out of their old rep gear, or if the instances themselves have design flaws that make them unlikable (I won't discount the possibility, though I kinda turn my brain off in instances because I don't wanna ragequit on a fail group. Just grin and bear it, man. Grin and bear it...)

The point is, this game isn't specifically different from other games - especially MMOs - freemium ones in particular. The biggest drawback to playing this game has nothing to do with the code, the company, or the connection. It's the community.

We're basically sh*tty fans. If I were making something that got popular, I wouldn't want us for fans. I would take the fanbase over any other game (with the exception of League of Bellends I MEAN Legends.)

    ADDENDUM:

The "pussification" (thanks George Carlin) of our language is the primary reason people don't take r*pe (seriously, this word is considered profane now? I have a problem with that.) and spouse-beating seriously. Maybe if we were still using those words instead of "Domestic Abuse" and "Nonconsensual Contact", then the last holdouts of lascivious idiots with half a brain cell left would keep it in their pants.

I have actually enjoyed the DR... I love the mission (those are the best part) and I love Kobali Prime. I do admit I have not upgraded a thing (tested one time.. but then I realised I won't be able to do it. Not a dil grinder.. besides any dilithium that i earn is already going to my savings for a Intrepid pack...one day one day ... or any fleet items). I have tones of toons so most if not all need to start using some rep or fleet items. The only think I kind of dislike is the patrol missions. I do think its a shame that STF quest are hard to start sometimes.. and specially those really old ones.. that requires 20 peps.. they are always empty.

Bu i have to say though... I miss the old Dominion series. Not only the story around DS9 .. but frankly this one episode released per week. That was FUN.. and you got great awards. I miss that. The mission being part of a world that Cryptic built. Bajor is still a very beautiful map.. I just wish there was more of those "ports" to mission stories.

Not everyone will like everything. I personally didn't think much of Delta Rising but it was okay. What I object to is being more or less "forced" into playing it if I wanted to advance.

If Cryptic rescinded their XP nerfing across non-Delta areas including the doffing assignments, fixed the Borg Red Alerts, and the skillstray issue, they wouldn't have this problem on their hands.

This whole thing is a result of Cryptic's insipid attempt to make Delta Rising more successful than it was ever able to be.

You have failed to be a Star Trek fan. Not by your disdain for the game; that's personal preference. But you are behaving like a spoiled child and we should be standing for something better than the way you are acting.

Has he? I love ST myself (say!), but I met so many so called "Star Trek fans" which were among the most ignorant, small minded, openly hostile to anything contradicting their world view people I have ever seen, that sometimes I think the more extreme Trekkies have failed their ideal by default.

I used "Nonconsensual Contact" because the word is censored. With a lot of Four letter words that come out as "****", it makes it confusing to state what word you mean.

"Domestic Abuse" is the legal term for the action, considering that it has been known to happen where the wife beats the husband or the husband beats the husband or the wife beats the wife. So "Domestic Abuse" kind of umbrellas all those instances.

So it's not about "wimping out" on language, but just conveying the message within perimeters of forum rules.

I'm not getting banned from STO Forums. I like talking to Worfan101 too much.

Those people have also utterly failed to be a Star Trek fan. The ideals implied within the franchise of decency in the face of indecency, peace in the face of aggression, all lost on them.

Even Star Wars fans understand the idea of being respectful (more often than Trek fans, apparently), and they like the BAD GUY more than the good guy.

Are we really going to let Star Wars fanboys out-do us?

Well I don't think saying the words are going to make the crimes go away either.

The only way we could stop that is if humans suddenly become like the humans of the Federation, instead of acting like humans in the Terran Empire.

Even more amusing is the OP is displaying exactly the same problems as is Ummax. Thing is apparently it's bad to have the ability to think critically, even worse to question the decisions of Geko (god???)...

Yes, it does make it terribly convenient when you can simply pigeonhole anyone who disagrees with you as a "white knight", and disregard what they're saying. So much easier than reading and thinking, isn't it?

    Hello,

Would just like to say in this downtime, I have come to read the forum and find it full of naysayers and doom thread makers, a lot of people expecting a lot of things from a game. In fact I think a lot of players only come here to moan!

In spite of this I would like to break the mould and say I have been playing this game for over a year now and am enjoying the constantly evolving game play and the new expansion true its not perfect, what game is? If there is a perfect game... Why aren't you playing that? lol

But devs id like to express my thanks and don't let the naysayers get you down there are a lot of players like me out there in silent fathoms of holodec :)

Huh? Evolving. I thought this game was evolving backwards. Nerf after nerf, and removal of content.

I don't understand why some people troll the OP. He is entitled to his opinion. No matter how bad a product is, you'll always find some people to defend it and find it good. For some people running in a wheel for an entire day is fun. I don't see why we should tell them how to have fun.

For example with X rebirth or Sacred 3, those product where hailed as almost unanimously bad when they were released, either due to being unplayable or simply bad. Yet, some people said those were awesome games.

In fact, I envy the OP.
I wish I could enjoy the cheap patrol mission disguised as story mission. I wish I could enjoy the grind behind upgrading my gear. I wish I could enjoy the level gaps. I wish I could enjoy the massive grind behind every spec point. I wish I could enjoy having to either re-buy a ship I already paid, or buy a token to upgrade it in something that's not as good as a t6, when I'm lucky and I can upgrade it at all (goodbye my mirror vo'quv and fleet corsair retrofit). I wish I could enjoy the empty queue. I wish I could believe Geko.

But no, I can't. So yeah, the OP is obviously the lucky one.

"Delta rising the best expansion ever--" *Stocks fall 22%, loses 100,000+ players* "--And the players love it."

DR is story might be good or whatever, but it's too hard to level up and the fun is gone. PVP has been obliterated... I'm happy for anyone who likes this Cluster #%$&, but I'm not having any fun. Sadly I have more fun typing in threads like this.

I see some people like taking it dry and hard... Personally I enjoy being able to sit down without saying "oww". You know what? Enough is a enough. The nerfing and TRIBBLE overs have gone too far. I want a positive change in STO.
