winter event is not required content. you have my premission to skip it.

Yes, this. The moaning about the free ship started yesterday even though nobody has it yet.

I'm not shy about voicing my concerns when the game heads in the wrong direction but the Winter Wonderland is going to provide a boost in player numbers. People will probably do a few STFs while waiting for their favourite part of the winter events to start (well hopefully) - last year I was doing the half-hourly snowman slaughtering mixed in with repeated No Win Scenario runs.

    whats this, bah humbug.

have you forgot your inner child.

if you need to be like a 5 year old to play Q`s wonderland well I guess I am.
or maybe im in my second childhood after all I am a 55 year old.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Might be a shocking concept, but Adults might enjoy silly stuff, from time to time ... we don't all have sticks up our asses ... or are 15 year olds, who are too cool for school ...

Besides, some people might say playing video-games is silly & childish per se ... you could as well read Shakespeare in the meantime, so what are you doing here ?

I like your sig good sir :D

And Delta Rising IS the BEST expansion EVER, and I do LOVE it, thank you jedi mind tricks, you are very convincing.

No, we're not. We're actually all 14 year old pvp'ers who don't know how to play.

    Nerf is OP, plz nerf
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

My post wasnt attacking the morons who play the winter event you cant blame the sheep they will play anything the devs throw at them. So now i ask the sheep what exactly do you enjoy about the winter event besides the ship. Is it really that bad in this game that someone would rather repeatedly throw snowballs at a snowman or repeatedly run around the track the same track since the first event or the competitive race lol what a joke. I think cryptic has achieved the goal they set out to achieve get rid of all the hard to please players till all thats left is blind sheep that will accept anything they throw at them even if its a snowball. You morons make cryptics job so easy its not even funny bahhh bahhh give me new coat oh not a new coat a new color for my coat bahh bahh give me a snow ball turret that probably took 2 minutes for them to add bahh bahh give me gingerbread security team wow the dev that came up with that probably got an employee of the month. Keep accepting mediocre content and thats what you will continue to get.

The winter event is my favorite event in the game. For one I'm a winter fanatic in general. So I adore the scenery. I like the whimsy. I love Q. The fact the Q was in the first episode set the tone of TNG. This will not be a "normal" show it said. Yes we saw some Q-like beings in Original series, but the Q go beyond that and show the potential for human evolution.

I personally like both races. I like the gingerbread invasion and really look forward to the gingerbread security team. Raising epohhs is much better here than on new romulus if you want marks. I like collecting the recipes. Killing the snowmen with the avalanch is awesome. Skating on the lake is awesome. I find absolutely nothing to complain about. I even like the annoying voices - which from livestream they seem to have turned down this year.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."

"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."

Yet, you turn around and call all those who play the Winter Event morons. A nice sweeping generalization there. Most games have some kind nonsensical content every so often. It is a way to blow off some steam in the game.

By the way, I don't mind when I am insulted; but my 8 year old daughter also plays a character on my account and I take it very personal when some d-bag insults her. She looks forward to the Winter Event as it is a change of pace from the rest of the game. I also find it a nice little diversion from the usual game. We are not morons or sheep.

My daughter realizes that everyone has different interests and they don't have to be the same as everyone else; but that doesn't mean that there is something wrong with people. It's pretty sad that an 8 year old has more class and intelligence than you do.

At this point, I would just accept that the purpose behind the seasonal events is lost on me and move on. However, that is just me.

As for what this particular moron enjoys about these events, it's a lighthearted and festive atmosphere, in which friends and strangers alike can have some virtual holiday fun along side the very serious business of pew pewing baddies.

Just as an FYI, not everyone who plays STO is a 40 year old Trekkie. My children play STO - and my son has a whole Fleet of friends his own age he plays with.

The next time you feel the need to nerd rage about some Content in a game remember a couple of things:

1: Not every piece of Content is designed for everyone in the game. It is OK to not like something but also realize you are not its target audience and that there are more people then just you playing.

2: STO is a game. It is designed to be played rather then lived. Do not take it all so seriously. It is here for people to have fun and get a laugh or two. Even the various Trek series had nonsensical and comedic aspects.

VERY well said, thank you. This is exactly how I feel. I love the winter event, and I've been looking forward to it for weeks. My favorite thing is just ice skating on the frozen lake, because of the insane jumps you can do in skate mode. This year, I have a Caitian, and I can't wait to see her jump!

And, for the record, I am so old I watched the second season of STOS when it was in production. That would have been 1967, IIRC, and I was in second grade. The word "trek", meaning a long journey, was not in our vocabulary at that time, so we called it "Star Track", and the latest episode was always the hottest topic of conversation at first recess the next day.

I have actually never played the winter event and am looking forward to it this year. It is something different and unique to play that is only around once a year. It is meant to be silly and fun at the same time sorry if you cant see that.

Simple solution OP don't like the content don't play it. No one has a snowball assault rifle pointed at your head making you play. Yeah they changed some kit items, reskinned ground powers but they still work like they always did. It just makes that zone in the game more festive in light of the season.

As for your grumpyness and calling players who enjoy the winterfest morons...... I suspect you are using the mistletoe wrong, you are supposed to hang it, not sit on it :D

I am 51 speak for yourself there is a little bit of kid in everyone and i love this kind of stuff. I suspect though someone that thinks adults dont like cute and silly stuff like this is probably still in his late teens or just barely an adult (how's that for a stereotype since we are busy judging what adults like and that adults can't enjoy such things which is dead wrong)

you mean as opposed to shooting Borg in an STF, or a patrol?

I mostly do Foundry missions now so a little grind now and then does not bother me. As for the ship, this the first Breen ship I will get. Could have got last years, but did not want it. Used the Epophs for marks, and had fun.

that is the key. Find the fun stuff and do that.

What kind of scrub repeatedly throws snowballs. Get yourself a snowball or gumdrop gun son.

As to why I enjoy it? New things to do that aren't the same old STFs, a PvP race that people get really pissed in when they lose, and of course, new outfits, because playing Space Barbie is the most important endgame of all.
