I vote no. One of the few distinctions between the factions are the unique technologies.
I completely understand why you'd want more variety in ship types for romulans. Having a decent science ship has always been a letdown for Romulans and the KDF.
These are valid points - but I'd rather see a new ship for the romulans (and they're due).
Feds got Intel now (at Cmdr. level, that is). And Roms have always had their ridiculously overpowered SRO's that you can slot 5 of. So, I say things are finally balanced a bit.
Right, because the Devs' reasoning of "no tier 5 allied ships because story-wise they wouldn't give the Romulans their best toys and gameplay-wise everyone would play a Romulan only" TOTALLY doesn't apply to tier 6.
New ships for the Romulans and KDF? Heck yeah, but those shouldn't just be Starfleet ships.

First, thanks for necro-ing this. Second, it doesn't matter to me any more, since I went ahead and rolled a fed science character. I advise anyone running a Romulan Science officer to give up and roll fed... it's what Cryptic wants, it's what the playerbase wants.
Finally, I'm laughing in my chair about how Romulans flying T5 and T6 ships is a massive dealbreaker. Nobody would ever roll a straight fed / klink again, eh? I doubt that.

I will never understand people asking for other faction ship.
That's quite simple :
if you are rom, you play a rom ship
if you are KDF, you play a KDF ship
if you are fed, you play a Fed ship.
Then you have the cross faction alien ship from box/lobi.
Rom have access to allied ship for low level because they simply lack the diversity of choice for those level. Basically, that's a way to hide the problem. Cryptic's style. Don't make it a rule.
I want more ship for the rom, and the KDF. I don't want to fly fed ship on my rom. If I wanted to, I would play.... (wait for it)... fed. Shocking, I know.
Seriously, how hard would the devs have to work to implement this?
Pros:
1.) Romulans might fly something besides the Scimitar
2.) Romulans get access to decent starship traits
3.) Cryptic gets more money, because I know that Romulan Science Officers would shell out immediately for a Scryer or Dauntless, or that neato burrito Gorn science ship
4.) Cryptic can officially shelve the Romulan Republic, which they seem to want to do, and don't have to waste any more precious dev time on their ugly, redheaded stepchild of a faction.
Cons:
1.) Might take more than 5 minutes to implement in-game.
2.) You'd probably never see a warbird ever again
3.) Klinks still starve for ships (which sucks. I feel you, my bloodthirsty friends)
Eh? EH? SOUNDS GOOD, YEAH? Good! Let's throw it in next patch! Great idea, go team!
Uhh, firstly I'ms slightly outraged at this post because romulans already get so much from their allies what do their fed/kdf allies get out of the alliance? Anybody?
Yeah, they get to use thier ally's doffs (doubling up on freebies from Romulan/ally academies), boffs, and lower tier ships (which includes the goodies from allied c-store ships *coughs* Plasmonic Leech *cough*) , so they don't need more of their ally's goodies, if anything their allies should get to use some Romulan stuff.
Just to be clear I'm not a "Romulan hater" I actually have several Romulan toons, I'm just constantly annoyed by Romulan players always asking for more stuff from their allies when they already get so much without giving hardly anything back.
Based on the logic put forth for allowing Romulans to use up to T4 ships with LoR, it actually would make sense to now allow T5 and Fleet allied ships from allied factions.
Not that I think it's a good idea. But the reasoning is already there.
My guess is "hope" keeps people not playing but posting on the forums. For others, its a path of sad realization and closure. Grieving takes time. The worst "haters" here love the game, or did at some point.
From this response I can tell you are unaware that during the initial beta testing on Tribble the Romulans did indeed have access to their allies T5 ships.
The devs disabled the Romulans ability to use their allies T5 ships based on PLAYER FEEDBACK during beta testing. That's right, WE told the devs the Roms shouldn't get access to those T5 ships.
So while it's not a flip of the switch, or a 5 minute change, it is also doesn't require serious code rewriting.
In any case the devs saw the wisdom in the players feedback and wisely disabled Roms access to those ships.
+1 Imagine a Scimitar or a torpedo t'varo with access to the wide angle quantum launcher... overkill, much?

You can embassy boffs lol But about this post umm don't think so because if Romulans can have all fed/kdf ships can fed/kdf have all romulan ships? That would only be fair. Romulans can get lower tier fed/kdf ship atm but fed/kdf doesnt get lower tier Romulan ships. So nope:)

With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
Why not make it a rep thing that works both ways. Add tier 6 to the romulan rep tree so fed or klinks can access romulan ships. Then a tier 6 on omega so romulans can access the ships from the faction they joined. It would make sense to me youre trusted enough to get access to their best weapons and armor then why not the ships that dont amount to much without good gear.

Haha, nice
Yeah, I roll a Rom Sci, and I really enjoy it.
We don't have the best sci ships, for sure, and I'd love to see a pure sci ship come out that doesn't have a tactical slant like the Dyson. But for the most part, Republic ships are fairly balanced-out - not too much one way, not too much the other. Though overall, there's a definite preference for tactical abilities, but I suppose that comes down to Romulan ships having always been called "warbirds." Seems the guiding design philosophy of Republic ships is to be a do-it-all kinda thing, and to never forget the pew-pew.
Hell, I fly a Rom sci in a D'deridex. Think outside the box.

In any case, my Romulan Scientist votes "No" on the main idea and "Yes" on better faction balance.
