This is a terrible idea. PvP is unbalanced enough as it is. We don't need Romulans flying their allies' T6 ships and taking advantage of both starship mastery traits.
PVP is dead, Jim. It's been dead a long time. Intel skills and the incessant power-creep that comes with upgrading gear to goldies was the final nail in the coffin. Probably best to pull it from the game at this point, unless the dedicated PvPers are a significant source of money.
Another idea may be more along the lines of the Dyson ships. Next time they make a new FED "X", create a KDF and ROM skin for it. I know that modeling is probably not the least intensive part of the process, and this wouldn't exaclty help the ROM and KDF feel like well-developed equals ot the FED, but it would reduce the work load by some degree and give the barest possible support to those that need it most in the game.
I'd love a romulan skinned Scryer. It could be the Scryer 100% copied over with a battlecloak (or not) and a singularity core (or not), and I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But, that takes a little effort.

no, it would be the end of the klingons. this battle was already fought before LoR was released, and the consensus was that if romulans were allowed their OP boffs, traits, singularity gimmicks, etc AND got all the goodies of their ally faction... what reason would anyone have to roll anything but a romulan?
romulans are one of the worst things that ever came to sto. giving them complete access to t5/t6 ships is unthinkable. if you want to fly a t5 kdf ship, roll a vanilla kdf.
They would lose the singularity abilities which some wouyldn't miss for better powerlevels, and some of the traits rely on cloaking and so couild be changed to work only on Roumlan ships, they could even make it that you can't use RR BOFFs on none RR ships.
As it is RR and KDF are just being left behind ship wise and even as someone who plays a main Fed I find this to be wrong.

No, people who wanted to play as a Klingon would simply roll a Klingon. You seem quite dedicated to it, would you really re-roll as a Romulan aligned KDF if you were given the option to do so? For that slightly boosted crit chance? Especially now that you can get crit chance so high on a non rom, that it's become the norm to stack CrtD instead of Acc?

Skills and ships haven't had a decent PvP balance pass in a long time. And you've had no new PvP maps for a long time. Nothing new, really, on the PvP side of things that isn't runoff from whatever Cryptic implements in PvE. We might be in the same boat, but the Titanic has split in half, and your half went under.

On the contrary. Although it wasn't obvious from the surface, Season 9 did address the PvP balance issue, as well as introduce new equipment to help restore the balance. With the exception of the pre-F2P days, it's the most balanced season IMO. Teamhealers, vapers, drain, CC, pressure, etc were pretty well balanced. Compared to now, S9 is Eden.
"No new PvP maps" doesn't bother me. I'd rather have the Dev team focus on fixing bugs rather than releasing bug-ridden content - which, by the way, the Dev team still has yet to learn that lesson.
Again, we're affected by Cryptic just like you. There's no reason to make it worse for us for solely your personal benefit. That's selfish and ignorant.

I am against this notion.
Not because I fear Romulan would be too OP, but because of a simple thing called faction pride.
That's just me though. Would hate Romulans to fly anything other then Romulan or factionless ships in endgame. I even hate them being able to fly non-Romulan ships during levelling.
Many Warbirds are among the best ships ingame right now. Learn to use them.
I agree with this, apart from the "faction free" event ships I prefer all my characters to play ships of their own line.
besides which the devs would never go for it in any case as it was them after all that put the rule of nothing over allied tier 4 ships for romulans in the first place.
if they give roms access to allied T6 ships they would also have to give them access to T5 & T5U by default.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

I'd really like a science vessel that was good. I don't have one, without resorting to a lockbox (which I have). My point stands, that the developers must spend money to make NEW romulan ships, but wouldn't have to spend a dime (and would open up a new revenue stream) to implement my suggestion.

I agree, a Romulan sci ship would be nice. The Ha'nom is a poor sci ship, and the next closest thing is the Tulwar. (Not complaining about the Tulwar, it's a nasty ship if set up right - made people think I was flying a Scimitar! )

I do belive the second part of my last posting just about covers that.
at the end of the day it doesn't matter what other players think its what the devs think and as it was them that put this rule in I cant see them changing it.
besides it would not bring in revenue at all because c-store ships are account wide anyway so all that roms would do is get any ships the players have already purchased for that faction for free anyway.

If the Republic had access to all of the end-game ships for all three factions, there would be no reason to develop anything else than the Republic going forward. That, or there would be no reason to develop anything else but the Federation going forward, moreso than they've already been over-focused on the Feds. And the KDF would be even more ignored.
I do see a lot of ships other than the Scimitar. Along with the Scimitar, the most common Republic ships I see are probably the Ar'kif, Aelahl, Faeht, Dyson (especially with the new faction-specific skin), and D'Deridex - in no particular order. But I'd hate for the Republic to end up just using Fed or KDF ships en masse. It would just dilute the end-game something fierce. We already have all the lockbox and other ships to choose from anyways, so there are options. But for other factions' end-game ships, I'm perfectly ok with needing to roll another toon in another faction. Case in point, I love the Feds' Avenger-class, but I've happily accepted that I'll never get it because I only roll Republic.
Other than that, I have to agree that the key is needing more varied options for us. A true sci ship, 2-bay carrier, and so on.
You could make a Romulan, have access to all the same ships.. plus the Romulan ships.
If anything, I would like to see it go the other way and see Romulans only use Warbirds. Of course in order to do this, they would need to first greatly extend the variety of available ships. But the end goal should be getting them away from other factions, not deeper in.

I'm definitely against this idea.
This is a good point of view. I'd agree with something like this.
I would agree to this stupid idea if the Roms offer their ships to their allies for use, if not get lost with this you are subservient to us and should be presenting your allies with your ships as tribute for saving you from Sela.
Less cross-decking of ships and Consoles between factions is needed, not more. When I first started playing STO, the Klingons felt and played very different from the Feds. Now it seems the important difference between the two is one uses a blue UI and the other uses a Red one.
I like the fact there are still some small differences between the factions. It means I get to try something new when I change chars. I don't want to fly a Fed or Klink T6 ship as a Rommie.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
No not only no BUT HELL NO. I have 3 Rom toons and love the challenge of Rom ships. If you got your wish I will lay odds very few players would ever fly rom ships and the uniqueness of this faction would be lost. they would be just another Fed or KDF charecter.
In general, I will have to agree that Romulans should not have access to T5 and above ships from the other factions. After all, you are playing a Romulan toon. However, I will have to agree with the following comment made on the 1st page since the 1st Rom toon I created is in the science career.
I'm aware of the nature of Warbirds, but as a Science officer I really have no options. It's idiotic how I have to purchase a Lockbox ship just to get a decent science vessel.
I do fly a lockbox ship. Want to know why? Because I have no options, disregarding that horrible Fleet science ship that has all the agility of a boat anchor tied to a short-bus. I love my R'Mor, I do, but I'd like to fly something different that isn't tac or engineering heavy. And my only other options are MORE lockbox ships.
As a Romulan science captain, you basically have to wait until level 40 to be able to select a science ship (the Ha'nom) from your own faction. However, more importantly, all Romulan starships have a singularity core which subtracts 40 power from the subsystems in order to get the singularity abilities. This is a problem... at least for me. Since I am flying a science ship I need keep my Aux power level relatively high (at least 70) so that my science abilities will make a difference. However, with 40 power less to distribute that means I need to sacrifice weapon power to boost up my Aux power which means I am lowering my DPS.
I was contemplating what to do with my level 50 Rom sci toon for a while. Should I continue to play that toon, or should I delete that toon? I was considering turning the Ha'nom into a torpedo ship so that I will not have to devote any power to weapons. Then there came that 4 Day Giveaway event during late summer... As a Fed aligned Romulan toon I got the Federation Ambassador Support Ship Retrofit (due to a bug). While not a true science ship, my Rom sci toon has been that ship to this day.
While I cannot access Cmdr Science abilities, I also do not have to deal with the 40 power penalty as well. But it is not a Romulan ship either. Along the way to level 60 I have purchased the Tal Shiar Adapted Battle Cruiser since it has a Cmdr science station and it uses a warp core rather than a singularity core. I bought it when it dropped to around 87 million EC, but I have not opened it yet and depending on how much I like the science heavy Breen carrier, I may put the TSABC up for sale on the Exchange for a small profit.
About 2 months ago I reluctantly created a Romulan tactical toon to see if how that would compare to a Romulan science toon. Overall, I have found the 40 power penalty does not affect my tactical toon too much in combat and it currently at level 55.
In conclusion, I think Romulan science toon has it pretty rough since you do not get your 1st Romulan science ship until you are level 40 and you must sacrifice power from other subsystems so that you can have high Aux power. Additionally, there is no T6 science ship for the Romulan faction. A Plasmonic Leech can offset the power penalty, but I will not buy one (36 - 40 million EC) unless there is a T6 science ship.
I vote no. One of the few distinctions between the factions are the unique technologies.
I completely understand why you'd want more variety in ship types for romulans. Having a decent science ship has always been a letdown for Romulans and the KDF.
These are valid points - but I'd rather see a new ship for the romulans (and they're due).
