I have a plan in mind, but I need some input.
Name ONE thing that you think is wrong with Delta Rising.
Participation Guidelines:
- Please respond with one answer. I will discount multiple posts.
- Please try not to be too specific (ex. "Neutronic torp with HY and consoles is OP in PvP" is too specific), but not too general (ex. "Delta Rising").
- Administrative changes is also a valid answer!
- Please keep it civil, and remember to abide by the ToS.
- If it's your top thing that's wrong with DR, that's the best answer!
Do you really need to ask? Since DR arrived everyone has been going on non-stop about the problems with it.
Yes, and there's a good reason why. It benefits the community if the community participates in this question. Please participate. Or don't. Either way, answers in this thread should be about the question, thanks.
EDIT 3: I've seen people posting more than one reason, and judging by their posts, they feel these issues are equally problematic for them. I've edited the original conditions to allow multiple answers, but please try to keep it to just one.

Intel Skills have "vaped" PvP
(And to think I was SUPER happy to see a ganking HoBO team, spawn killing in Ker'rat #5 yesterday)
Never thought I'd be happy to see them. But, it was like seeing an old friend, after sloughing through a few hours of Intel disable after Intel disable.
Sadly, they left when multiple Intel ships showed up.
I guess they dont like Intel ships either
If I had to boil that down more: too much stick for the amount of carrot.
its story is good but the long grind to get to the next level overshadows the quality.
"It appears we have lost our sex appeal, captain."- Tuvok
I would start a new thread on this if i could as they do this every time now with new reps adding no rewards and its not like i've been hitting the hourly projects or anything i've only been doing it once a day so where is the rest of the usual posts of people complaining as they normally do till we finally get rewards and cryptic saying it was an oversight lol. have people really given up on this game and its nerfs so much that they can't even be bothered to complain
Ok this time i responded to early, turns out that it gives you a quick hail after you claim the upgrade and then you get your rewards.
so i think this time i have to say thank you cryptic you got it right this time and i was wrong.
Still the skill points needed to level up is just nuts
It has nothing to do with the content of DR, but DR brought it to the fore, and it really makes me not to want to experiment with different abilities or ships. (There are plenty of other things I could add, but it's number 1.)
Not having the old queues makes a tough job, that much harder...
It's kinda sad that in the last two weeks, the only thing I have logged in to do is a mirror invasion and fill my delta rep and since finishing mirror I have enough marks to just log in, fill rep, log out. Four years I've played STO and I feel like it's nearly time to just walk away. (No not because of this one issue, it all adds up)
1. Face hugging : I don't know but since the launch of Delta Rising, all NPC's have the tendency to prefer close combat. You can't engage any battle, ground or space, or NPC's are closing into you at such a distance that certain abilities become useless : example use of Romulan Plasma Torpedoes. Using those have now more risk in killing yourself instead of the enemy.
2. Overuse, abuse, misuse of immobilising abilities by NPC, ground or battle. You can't engage any battle any longer or you or your ship is trapped not in one tractor beam, hold and so one, but several at the same moment.
3. The living hull space treat is now causing the fact that your ship is pushed downwards, stopped in motion and so on.
4. Too costly in upgrading, but that is already mentioned.
5. Dead pvp/pve cues, mainly because "why should we engage a battle if we don't get rewarded accordingly when we complete succesfully, if we are able to complete it at all.
6. Too much grind, in such a way that it's a burden to level up lower leveled alt. Wonders even that this Delta Rising expansion has drawn new players to STO, if they see what for daunting task is ahead.
This means less variation, less fun for the player and ultimately less sales/income for Cryptic.
It's a very bizarre way to run a business and 'expand' a game.
...#LLAP...
Answer: everything
So, I'll move to another thing that bothers me that isn't listed here yet.
DPS Online (I know, this has been said to death.). I find this absolutely boring and it's moving me away from the game (I do love STO though. I'd hate to give it up). It seems more and more it's all about "Kill this enemy more quickly, in this set time, while its HP is also been buffed" Sorry, but that's just not interesting to me in any way. I don't want to sit there and play my tactical officers 24/7 be the most effective thing. That just gets boring and repetitive.
I guess in other words, Delta Rising has seemed to reduce the effectiveness of doing anything other than getting the most spamalicious abilities with high damage, especially since specific ships are designed in such ways to empower this. So, now the game is just spam damage or uninstall. To me, that's just game breaking. This is Star Trek, not Star Wars. Would think creativity in battle would be the goal.
It's like those shooter games .You have all these lovely guns, but when it comes down to it the gun with the most ammo and fastest rate of fire is most likely going to win the fight. More so in a small map (which most things here are generally jammed together anyways) Complete and utter spamfests.
An expansion concentating on increasing the difficulty/reward structure in the game? Also reasonable.
An expansion trying to simultaneously blend both together in semi-perfect harmony? Too ambitious.
